I love to get together with family and friends for family sing alongs. Playing the guitar is probably more personal therapy for me than anything else. But they say all you need to make it big is “three chords and a bus.” I’ve got the three chords down, but no bus….so we won’t be hitting the road any time soon. But we have a blast and always enjoy each other’s company when I’m at home.

I met Jim at a historical park where he volunteers as a tour guide. Jim is so helpful and very knowledgeable about the history of Simi. Thank you, Jim for taking the time to show us the history of Simi.
This was the second person I met yesterday also named Jim. He was about the same age as Jim in my previous image. Both friendly, polite approachable people yet how different their circumstances.
Jim has been homeless now for about eleven weeks. Originally from Edinburgh he came to the south about 14 years ago. He has a daughter who also lives in London called Abigail. Jim is pictured here with his dog called Crow. They sometimes will sleep in a hostel if they allow dogs if not Jim will sleep wherever he can find a warm location. Jim told me that the cost to stay in a hostel overnight is £12
Jim once appeared in the English film "Sexy Beast" which I seem to remember was about a bank robber, where he was a film extra appearing as a cycle courier.
I am in the process of looking for a sponsor so that I can exhibit these images of the homeless somewhere in London to raise awareness of the issues. To see the other images in this series go to www.flickr.com/photos/mark-edwards/sets/72157625055972331/
I was rapidly losing light when I took this shot so had to up my ISO. Also my camera metering was struggling as was my auto-focus so I took quite a few shots on manual focus and heavily used my EV exposure override.
Camera Canon EOS 5D
Exposure 0.025 sec (1/40)
Aperture f/4.0
Focal Length 24 mm
ISO Speed 800

It's nice when you can try drinks with $1 nips... another example right here. This is Jim Beam Black, a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aged 8 years.
I am finding in my whiskey tasting experiment that I like scotch more than bourbon. Bourbon tends to be stronger in flavor to me: more spice and more burn in the throat.
In sampling the Jim Beam Black, I get the spiciness and the sweetness, probably the corn flavoring. The alcohol goes down smooth, with subtle warmth in my throat, but nothing overwhelming.
Not bad. I think I like the flavor of Bulleit more, but I do think that bourbon is not my liquor preference. Probably better used in mixed drinks for me.
