The Jacob fleece was given to me by a friend so I spun it up and this is the result. For the buttons I was going to use horn toggles but then remembered that we had a box of old coins. My husband drilled the holes and now I have old European currency buttons. It really was a jacket that cost me buttons!

The Divergent 3-in-1 jacket benefits from a super soft Symmetry fleece inner and Regatta's Isotex fabric technology outer - the waterproof, breathable and windproof fabric will keep you warm, dry and comfortable.

This padded nylon ski skirt suit belonged to Samantha who gave it to her sister Kerry.

Kerry decided to get rid of her winter / ski gear, but thankfully she asked me if I wanted it for Samantha before binning it.

I just hope I can talk Samantha into wearing it again for me.

My name is Connor Queen. After my father Oliver died, I discovered he wasn’t who I thought he was; he was the saviour of Star City, a masked saviour called the Green Arrow. Now, after avenging my mother and killing her killer I will continue his mission to protect the innocent from those who would do harm.

Carrie and I meandered into the school, hand-in-hand. A light snow was falling outside, and the air had gotten much colder, it being late November.

The mammoth foyer was filled with students, bustling around, going to their lockers, or reading the bulletin board. Carrie and I marched over to it; seeing as it was the most crowded, there was definitely some big announcement.

“Oh my gosh!” Carrie squealed as we got close enough to see it. “There’s a Christmas Ball coming up on December 21st!” I merely grinned. Dances weren’t really my thing, after a, er, incident at the grade 8 grad dance.

“Connor.” I turned around and felt the grin melt off of my face. There stood Roy in his usual brown jacket, this time with a coat over it; his shaggy black hair had specks of snow in it. I gave him a cold stare.

“Connor, I need to talk to you. Please.” Carrie noticed I was looking somewhere else and followed my gaze to Roy. A look of realization and mild interest spread across her face. I’d told her about my issues with Roy.

“I’ll leave you two to talk; see you later,” she said quickly, standing on her toes to kiss my on the cheek. She walked away as Roy trudged towards me.

“We need to go somewhere,” he said. I followed him numbly through the stuffy halls and to his locker.

“What is it?” I asked him.

“Look, Connor, I’m sorry about what I said about your dad, I was out of line-”

“Damn right you were!” I snorted. “Talking about my dad like that, you had no right!” Roy looked at the ground, a blush blossoming in his natural, Navajo tan.

“However,” he pushed on, “something’s come up, in the last few days. I don’t know if you’ve been out on patrol, or seen the news…”

“I’ve been inside,” I admitted. “As you can see I’ve met someone.” He blushed further.

“Yeah, well, there’s this person going around at night, killing people, specifically sex traffickers and male prostitutes. They’re found dead in the morning, their hearts ripped out.” I blinked a few times and processed what he said. Ew.

“Do you have any ideas who it might be?” I probed. He shook his head.

“No, but I was just letting you know; we should probably be investigating this before it gets way out of hand,” he told me. I sighed wearily; the heavy weight I hadn’t been carrying was back on my shoulders. I bit my lower lip, annoyed; to be honest, I liked not being the Green Arrow and taking a break. But I knew it was useless to resist; I could already feel my mind thinking up explanations, piling together a list of my father’s enemies who might have done something like this.

“Alright. Meet at the mansion, tonight.”

I've had this life jacket for a few years now and have never gone for a swim with it on, I changed that this weekend. I drove far out into the woods to a lake with no cottages (way out in the sticks) and then walked along it's edge through some pretty rocky woods until I found a spot I felt that nobody would see me, even though I just drove 35 minutes into the middle of no where.

I found a spot that I liked, threw on a pair of shorts and spun in a new cartridge. At this point my stomach is in my throat as I tighten the strap. I gave it one last check, the cartridge is tight, the pull cord isn't tangled, and my buckle is secure. I make my way into the water step by step until I'm waist deep. I lower down into the water and push myself off. I notice my life jacket is riding up a little bit, there's still some air left in it from my last inflation. Now I am out to where my feet can't touch and my chin starts going under water, that is when I slide my hand down my life jacket to find my toggle.

I feel the small piece of plastic between my fingers; I snug the life jacket down one more time, Then I pull, the whoosh of c02 tightens the chamber up around my neck and slaps me in the face all in under a second. The vest inflated perfect, it was really tight because of the extra air that was already in the chamber. The chamber now pressed firmly against my face felt cold but soon warmed up. The sensation of the strap digging into my back and the feeling of floating was somehow comforting. I floated around for a short while bobbing up and down. After a while I let some air out and blew it up orally a few more times.

Best money I spent this whole weekend. Does anyone else get nervous or paranoid when they go swimming?

I made the exact size 12 with no pattern adjustments, I usually wear a 6-8 in rtw. This was a semi-muslin. I am 5'10 with long limbs. I will probably add an inch or so in length next time, but in Florida, I'm happy with the shorter sleeve length.

One day, a frumpy plaid skirt hooked up with a XXL black velvet blazer and magic happened.

Bomber jacket painted by Julie Nelson- Anything Artistic

Wikipedia: The flight jacket, or bomber jacket is a garment originally created for pilots, which eventually became part of popular culture and apparel. In the First World War most airplanes did not have an enclosed cockpit, which necessitated a garment that could keep pilots sufficiently warm. While serving in France and Belgium, the Royal Flying Corps pilots had already begun wearing long leather coats in 1915, and the trend caught on. The US Army established the Aviation Clothing Board in September 1917 and began distributing heavy-duty leather flight jackets; with high wraparound collars, zipper closures with wind flaps, snug cuffs and waists, and some fringed and lined with fur, but not this one.
