I'm afraid I have way too many animals to take on another and my neighbors also have a lot on their plate. So, if you live in the Gastonia/Charlotte area and need a kitty, please send a message!

"Vintage Prom Dress" for the Itty Bitty Book Club.....my first attempt at making an itty bitty page. I was a nervous wreck & this is actually my 3rd attempt at making a vintage prom dress page.LOL!! I actually took pictures of 2 vintage prom dresses that I have but could not make them look the way I wanted. Finally I was down to the wire so I took a picture of this vintage vase & kind of liked the way it came out so I just went with it!!!
This shot was a tough one to capture. This was one of the themes that we all were supposed to have an opportunity to photograph. However, the photographer who created this theme (including the dress made out of newspapers) arrived late and was the only person photographing this model.
I asked him if I could grab a quick capture as I thought this was so unique. He said "yes" but that I would have to use my own lights. Since this was towards the end of the day and the studio was packing up, I grabbed one of my lights and literally put it in place and hit the shutter.
The original had to many shadows so this is a composite between a regular b/w version and a really dark version with vignettes. I'm still working on a color version and will share that shortly. The photog capturing this look had 3 lights, all softboxes, so I know his images are going to be dope!

The sun glinting off the tiny hairs on these Dr Seuss-looking pods just reminded me that the world is composed of smaller and smaller worlds, and of the way we're proving that scientifically.
We used to think molecules were small - until we discovered atoms.. And we thought atoms were small, until we discovered that they were mostly empty space with a nucleus and protons as far apart (relatively speaking..) as the Earth is from the sun.
We just keeping looking closer and closer, smaller and smaller, until poor Horton would surely be cross-eyed trying to see..

Esta es mi aportación para el fantástico Capturando Momentos de las no menos increÃbles Rebeca lagos y Eva Guein , dos mamis haciendo click de las que admiro enormemente su trabajo...partiendo de la idea de Fix it Friday en I {heart} faces...el juego es sencillo... ellas aportan la fotografÃa y tú propones una nueva versión de la misma...os animáis???...aquà va la mÃa y un poco lo que he hecho con ella...
1. La foto en sà me parece fantástica!
2. Recorté la foto pues la mano de la izquierda quedaba cortada y además querÃa darle más protagonismo a la peonz...
3. Como venÃa una luz muy fuerte de la derecha que inundaba el espacio y sobreexponÃa algunas partes de la imagen decidà dale más fuerza para lo cual retoqué la exposición, brillo, intensidad y además le incluà un Flare en la parte derecha...
4. Para el toque vintage filtros de color azulado y sepia más retoques en el color...
5. Finalmente decidà colocarle un bonito marco vintage de la serie Vintage Borders de Ittybitty...
6. ...e voilà ...esta es mi versión

Part 2 of Briana's maternity's photo shoot this past weekend with family included. Here's her son Nolen 18 mos old peeking at her belly looking for baby brother. Super cute. I love how he's trying to stand on his teepee-toes to peek.

Baby millipedes! About 1/8 of an inch, or about 3 millimeters long. I breed several species. These are Narceus americanus/annularis, the American giant millipede. When full grown they'll be about 4 inches or 10 centimeters long.

A tiny, newly hatched, 3 mm long Narceus americanus/annularis. A baby American giant millipede. I find it fascinating that they apparently don't have legs down the whole length of their bodies, as the adults do. These little guys pushed my crappy little camera to its macro limits.
