It's been such a long time since we've had a genuine pea soup fog around here and on Sunday we were blanketed all day. I was finally persuaded to get my camera out of the bag after almost a year and it was the thick fog that did it.

I know many people like cemeteries for different reasons. I like them because they demonstrate an important and inevitable aspect of the life cycle. It's also because reading the inscriptions makes me wonder about what made up the life of the one who has shuffled off this mortal coil.

Graveyards are generally peaceful places and deliberately designed to be so. The fog seemed to emphasize that peace as well as a kind of timelessness, so there, in the quiet, I couldn't help but think while the people buried there may have finished with this life they are certainly busy in their next one--another part of the cycle.

Thus, the great hope: life goes on.

Tell me true

My heart is new

My love has gone away...

The severe angle of this tree, and the evidence of complete surgery of all of its limbs, was not enough to destroy its ability to survive. Fresh branches have sprouted...I hope it makes it.

Ironically, this tree survives at a "ghost town" , Glen Haven, Michigan.

For some, this time of year might be pleasantly warm, even hot. Yet for others, this is probably the coldest time of the year.

When is the Midpoint of Winter? Many people think the midpoint of winter is always Groundhog Day, but it varies. If you check the latest edition of the Farmers' Almanac, you'll see that it's Thursday, February 3, 2022—the exact halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.

This bit of info was taken from the Farmer' Almanac!

I haven't had much time to visit SIMs these past months, one of them being Nelipot, always so beautiful. I'm so glad I had the chance to see it before the snow melted away ; )

I, I gave it my all, I tried

But nothing could stop this fire

So hard to leave it all behind

And I know

The good with the bad, we fall

What is the point of it all? (mmh)

So there goes my heart, I fell apart

Trying to love

Wanna be free, so God, tell me, please

Is it in the stars? Oh

Feel it in my bones, oh, I've got to know

Tell me what it is, it is (what it is, what it is, what it is)

It is, it is (what it is, what it is, what it is)

On my mind always, at least three times a day

Tell me what it is, it is (what it is, what it is, what it is)

It is, it is (what it is, what it is, what it is)

Is it that sense of wonder? (wonder)

It hit like lightning (lightning)

Feel that inner thunder (thunder)

It's so inviting, yeah (ooh-ooh)

Feel it in my bones, oh, I've got to know

Tell me what it is, it is (what it is, what it is, what it is)

It is, it is (what it is, what it is, what it is)

Dive deep in the dark with no light

And I'm looking for a sign

Should I have left it all behind?

And I know life really takes its toll

But what is the point of it all? (yeah)

So there goes my heart, I fell apart

Trying to love

Wanna be free (wanna be free), so God, tell me please (God, tell me please)

Is it in the stars? (gotta know, oh-oh)

Don't know how, a feeling so strange, yeah

The way time never stays the same

So is life with failure and age? (ooh-ooh)

Wondering, why do we throw so much shame? (why? Yeah)

You and I are one in the same (one in the same)

Dust from a heart to a flame (uh, right)

Is it love that proves in our faith? (is it love?)

Or how we move, spiraling? (Is it? Is it? Is it now?)

Oh, I feel it in my bones, oh, I've got to know

Tell me what it is, it is (what it is, what it is, what it is)

It is, it is (What it is, what it is, what it is)

What It Is-Listen

Can finally take off all this shit, until next year.

After a spell of cold, snowy weather, quietly Mother Nature is waking up her plants and getting them ready for spring. I am so hungry for the color green!

Happy Shocktober.

FYI, there's a flickr group called Shocktober, open only for the month of Halloween (October), and for images that could somehow relate to the darkness and mystery of the season, serious or comical.

If you want to post in it, you must join and then submit an image to be added by the administrator.

Take a look if interested.

Yes, I love Carly Simon. Ricketts Glenn, Pa. I had to wade in this stream, and those rocks were slippery. But, it was refreshing. Look no further than a short trip if you live near NYC.

It will rain_Bruno Mars

'Cause there'll be no sunlight

If I lose you, baby

There'll be no clear skies

If I lose you, baby

Just like the clouds

My eyes will do the same, if you walk away

Everyday it will rain

It defiantly baby season

Never let your feelings get you down

Open up your eyes and look around

It's just an illusion, illusion, illusion

It always amazes me that this many birds can take flight without them all crashing into each other. But the move in sequence and then as one in the air.

Seen on the Cornwall Coast path near Charlestown. Makes me think of that Oasis song...

HBM!

It's been a while since I posted a lighthouse photo, and I do have a few more that I feel are worth sharing. This is the Cape Neddick Light, also known as Nubble Light or just the Nubble. Built in 1879, it is located on Nubble island which is just 90 meters off Cape Neddick Point, in Southern Maine. The lighthouse is only 12 meters high but because it sits on top of a steep rocky island, the light is actually 27 meters above sea level. The Nubble is a famous American icon and as such, a picture of it among with pictures from other prominent man made structures (like the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China) was carried by the Voyager Spacecraft, should it fall into the hands of intelligent extraterrestrials. Only the lighthouse keeper has access to the island and as you can imagine the small park at the tip of the cape right across from the lighthouse is almost always crowded with people enjoying the view of this beautiful structure and the rugged shoreline.

It would be possible to get this shot where I live HOWEVER that is not what happened.

The hawk is my shot that I took while out on a winter hike and although I do have trees like these around here, these particular trees are courtesy Unsplashed. I blended the two together for a little winter wonderland.

Taken for the Macro Mondays theme "Two".

It's a small bug, roughly 1/4 inch long.

It was a beautiful day at Stinson Beach National Recreation Area. We met lots of friendly folk enjoying one of the last vestiges of Summer. We spotted a wide variety of birds running in and out of the water as the waves undulated in and out. This Heermann’s Gull was calling out to his buddies in the shallow water.

It became evident with post processing. It is about where the light hits most. The now, right in front of you.

A little macro fun while it’s sprinkling outside, temperatures this week will be 100 degrees…..I’m ready. HMM.

It was early April but the temperature was in the mid 20s so it was perfect for walking along The Tiber.
