It's really an unseasonably warm late Winter with temperatures up to 18 C. Quite amazing. And that weather brought out lots of insects.

Here's a Marmalade Hoverfly; if you look at its wings, for example, you will see they are entirely in mint condition. Nu sight of wear yet. Amazingly beautiful; and she's happily collecting pollen on Crocus.

Happy Smile on Saturday! Today’s theme is Eyeglasses 😎

It is amazing how the landscape changes when there is snow.

Behind her there is the apple tree still full of fruits :-)

It was quite sunny when I drove there, a bit on and off but regularly enough the sun came through.. I went there especially because with the poplars being bald yet I hoped to be able to take a good picture of the chapel and the rest of the old abbey in the distance behind them, but non of my pictures worked.. it was either too dark and grey or too fainted of an image, my camera or me just couldn 't adapt that fast and then these big puffy clouds appeared.. just totally hiding what I was there for! Going through my pictures again now -searching for something else than flowers at this season- I realized this view on itself was quite extraordinary, so..

It was December in the air it's already Christmas

It's rainy and cold on the Grand Canal. All the cafes of summer are closed. All the tourists have gone to warmer climes. But Venice remains it's timeless self.

It is midday now, we are hiking for quite some time. One thing comes to view is that any tree in this environment is lonely. It makes stand in ore and admire persistence and energy to withstand harsh environment. Well done nature.

to make me smile. Last weeks there was little sunshine here, it felt somehow like wearing sunglasses all day. So a little bit of bright light in the swamps of the Grosse Torfmoor put a smile on my face. Hille, Ostwestfalen, Germany

It is thought that this ancient tree - an oak planted during the reign of Henry Vlll - inspired the legendary character Treebeard in JRR Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings. Tolkien lived nearby and would walk these woods sparking his imagination to write his stories.

Treebeard was a giant tree that could walk and talk in Tolkien's novel. Such a tree was considered an Ent, and there were other Ents in Lord Of The Rings too.

The tree is natural and has not been adapted which makes it even more amazing.

It rare to see snow n misty day at the Northern Alps in Takayama, Japan - about 3000 metre above sea level,

A year ago today, we had first snow in our then neighbourhood. It was a bit of winter wonderland. I wonder how much land developers of suburban neighbourhoods take winter landscaping into consideration.

Title translates to "The Red Tower" located in Mellieha - Malta. This structure was built during the days of the Knights Of Malta (circa 1580) to (a) keep watch over the sea surrounding the Island , and (b) communicate with other towers located along the coast, via smoke signals in case of approaching danger. Thank you for your time to view.
