The adult Canada Goose was calling to her young further out in the water. As this one approached, it appeared to be conversing with the adult.
Sign in a small park at the south end of Irondequoit Bay called LaSalles Landing describes indigenous people and their use of this land and some of the early European explorers in the area.

I was very surprised to see this little guy swimming in the bay this afternoon. Gary and I had gone to Mendon Ponds Park in hopes of seeing a Snowy Owl that had been spotted there. After a couple of hours of no success, we decided to go to Irondequoit Bay on Lake Ontario. This little guy went swimming close by while I was standing on one of the look out platforms. I had no idea I'd see one of them here in Upstate NY.
If my identification of this bird is wrong, please correct me.
After decades of not getting out fishing, Gary finally "dipped a line" this past weekend. Went to three different spots without any luck for him but he enjoyed the relaxation just the same. I am sharing some photos of what I enjoyed at one of the spots he tried.....

The bay is thawing out and the birds are moving. I found this swan and other birds at the opposite end of the bay. The light was just right for this swan to have a nice reflection.
I did NOT hit a deer or pee my pants while driving through the Adirondacks tonight, so the day was pretty much an unqualified success. Came frighteningly close to both, but didn't do either. Total victory.
Spent a lot of time stopping and taking pictures around the great lakes (plus a lesser lake), which was fun, and managed to make it to Vermont before bedtime.

The swans were in a little closer to shore yesterday. Several were swimming among ducks. One kept chasing the others but this one seemed to swim peacefully.
There were 7 goslings between their parents swimming between the reeds. They paused for just a minute and it appeared that these two were chatting - possibly about where they were going.... ;-)
