Springtime finally arrived in Webster, NY air temperature was around 68 degrees F and the water temperature was approximately 44 degrees F

The models got tired of waiting for me to set up the shot.

a brisk sunny October morning on the Lake. No one was climbing in the trees today, but if they were, they would have had a nice view.

A couple weeks ago I took the Holga 120PC for a walk down Point Pleasant road to the Irondequoit Bay. I turned right to follow Schnackel Road down around Ides Cove.

There were two loons in the bay but they were very evasive. I had to do a heavy crop on this one and several of my other photos. I miss my 500mm lens (300mm just doesn't make it trying to get these birds out in the inlet)

This loon was beautiful to say the least. With the sky reflecting in the water, it made for a great contrast.

Gary and I were watching various types of boats coming into the bay off Lake Ontario. When this sailboat came in, it was the perfect subject to take a photo of with those storm clouds looming in the background.

oops, we're here.

It looks like my camera wanted that foreground branch to be in focus. Not what I had in mind but oh well, I kind of like it anyway.

I had one individual let me know that they were leaving Flickr and another one who is seriously thinking of it.

I don't want to lose contact with my Flickr friends/contacts. I wish Flickr would listen to us and give us the old format back.....

I didn't get out the dafter our 26+ inches of snow but went roaming around yesterday. The sun was out and it got up into the low 40's...perfect photography day.

I struck out getting owl and Eagle photos but found more ice across the bay.

The heavy ice in one is ice that has collected on the wire between the posts.

One of my favorite places to go with my camera. However, this day there was quite a crowd of young adults playing Pokémon. It was hard to find a place to park much less avoid getting a lot of people in my photos. I did, however, miss my chance to photograph the mass of game players.... Hindsight is always 20/20.

A pair of Long Tail Ducks in flight. It was about 24 degrees and super windy today, but enjoyable at the same time.

This is the flip side from the previous photograph, here with my back to the cove and bay. Both photographs show a bit of the rim of the firepit where I set the camera.

The path between the bluff and the bay.

At the end of Schnackel Road a path turns to meander between the base of the bluff and the houses along the bay, which are otherwise accessible only by water.

The ducks were very active the day I captured this one coming in with its landing gear down.

The pier at the mouth of Irondequoit Bay. The Genesee River used to enter the Lake here until the glaciers changed the river's course. Now it is a favorite fishing spot for families. The light was so red that night as the sun dipped and lit up that crazy artwork on the light tower next to nature's great sundown art

Are the fish from Lake Ontario safe to eat?

Some fish from Lake Ontario and its connecting streams, rivers, ponds, and bays contain dangerous

chemicals in amounts considered too high by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). People

can take in these chemicals from eating the fish. The chemicals of concern in the Genesee River/Lake

Ontario watershed are PCB's, Mirex (a pesticide), and dioxin. The NYSDOH recommends that women of

childbearing age and children under the age of 15 should not eat any fish from Lake Ontario and the

waters that contain contaminated fish. Others should limit their fish consumption according to the

specific advisory for that body of water. Local waters listed in the advisory include Lake Ontario,

Irondequoit Bay, Canadice Lake, Canandaigua Lake, and Keuka Lake.

Most of the pollution in Lake Ontario, the Genesee River and streams comes from polluted runoff or

nonpoint sources, such as your yard!

· pet waste

· lawn fertilizer

· motor oil

· detergents

· improper disposal of chemicals

These are sources that come from many widespread areas and are often things we can do something

about. Many people think most of our pollution comes from industry. While it's true industry and

businesses contribute to water pollution, it's really the things we do every day that add up to

water quality problems. Luckily, just as we're all part of the problem, we are all part of the

solution too!"

Sunrise from the Seabreeze Pier while gazing out onto Lake Ontario. The cloud bank was impressive that morning!

Walked down to the Irondequoit Bay outlet a few days ago. For part of the way I walked along the bluff.
