A íris é um órgão interno que faz parte do globo ocular protegido pela córnea do olho. Sua função é controlar os níveis de luz, assim como faz o diafragma de uma câmera fotográfica.

Mom had these beautiful purply-white irises out in a little flower bed by the pasture... that is, until our new puppy Onyx destroyed them. Way to go, buddy. Thank goodness I got a photo before he got to them!

Another flower I find difficult to photograph because of its location: This garden plot lives right at the end of the driveway, with variously the drive, the road, or the sidewalk in the background for most possible framings. And I've not even mentioned the newspaper box which lives in the center of the flowers, or the telephone pole you can nearly see in this background.
I'm not complaining, really, as it took me years to get Iris to grow at this location. But it's a shame to have such lovely flowers and not be able to photograph them. (And yes, I need to weed this plot. But that's another day's story.)
Obviously I found a useful angle this morning....
