The Irises are finally starting to bloom at the UCR Botanics Garden. Peak bloom should be in a week or two. A favorite spot of mine to practice my macro and bokeh photography. I love these Cascade Springs Irises with their white and baby blue colors.
Anytime of year there's always something to shoot at the UCR Botanic Gardens in Riverside, CA.
I used a Kenko Extension tube so that I could get in tight on this German bearded iris that I picked from the garden yesterday.
Strobist info: Main light was an SB600 hand held with a grid to direct the light onto the beard, and I used an SB600 in a softbox camera left, an SB700 in a softbox camera right for balanced fill light. The strobes were set to manual, and adjusted until I got the look I wanted. Triggered by the pop up flash on my D90 in commander mode.

This looks best when viewed large on a black background, and you can see it that way by pressing "L".
Transplanted the irises from a side garden in the eat. They hadn't been blooming in the shade. This is full sun and they've been doing so well - lots of blooms. Just beautiful!
These photos are older than the ones with lilies and roses. Forgot to put them up before. Most of the irises are gone already.

My Irises are in full bloom.I managed to get a few shots before the wind and rain knocked a lot of them down yesterday.
