I am guilty of often buying beer based on the fun name, or cool cap design, or cute bottle (hey, I am a girl!). But mostly I buy it because I like trying new kinds. This one is red rice ale from Japan. Very bubbly and tastes like summer. Also the color is a beautiful shade of red. And yes, the bottle is cute and the cap has the most adorable little owl on it. What can I say...I am a girl. My only defense is that after I try any beer, I judge it based on taste, not on cuteness factor.
15 minutes before landing and 2 minutes before sun disappeared completely. I always wonder how sunset in the air compares to what we see this very moment on the ground, but so far failed to be in both locations at once. Two more versions below the fold, all are taken with an iPhone.
Yesterday was all about taxes...not hanging out on the deck. I don't mind taxes, but seriously hate all the paperwork. Should be grateful it is only once a year and not every month.
Taken and edited with an iPhone. On black here.
I just got back to Delhi from Gorakhpur...my city # 10. Only two more left to go. Well...not really *to go*, but to fly and then drive and then fly again, but you know what I mean...And tomorrow I have a more or less free day. Big YAY!
On completely non-related matter: I always travel with my US cell phone, but use it mostly for texting because calling is so outrageously expensive for all parties involved. So our office here in Delhi gave me a local cell, which makes it easier for them to call me, and for me all incoming calls become free. Which is how it works in all countries I have been to in both Africa and Asia, but never in US where they charge you on both ends of the conversation and about 100000 times more if you use your phone abroad. However, in India this nice feature comes with strings attached: you are constantly bombarded with text messages containing all sorts of adds...I am getting something like 20 messages a day. I am also getting these weird quiz questions which pop up on the screen, linger for a while and then float back into the cyberspace. At least they are not being saved in the mailbox because they keep coming, and coming, and coming. These are the questions I got within the last 15 minutes (and I am failing miserably):
How many incarnations of Lord Ganesha are listed in the Ganesha Purana? ~ I bet it is more than one, but I don't think this is the answer they are looking for.
What is the strict, waterless fast observed during Ganpati called? ~ Ugh...not a slightest clue.
"Babuwa Jingi Ha" is a song from which film? ~ "Babuwa Jingi Ha" is a song?
Spot the odd one out: 1000, 4000, 2. ~ OMG, I think I know the answer! Take that, evil someone on the other end of my Indian phone!
Commercial Shoot I did recently for Park Place Motors of Portraits of Owners with their Cars. Amazing machines and People. We had a lot of fun. Behind the Scenes video coming soon!
HUGE THANKS TO SEAN WILLIS FOR HELPING ON THE SHOOT! AWESOME GUY!

The shot was taken with a manfrotto window clamp (Bogen manfrotto 243 compliments of another photographer www.flickr.com/photos/craigctnelson/) while driving about 30 mph. The camera was set at 2 second exposure and f/13.0. I used a remote to fire the camera so you couldn't see my hand movements in the rear view mirror.

I think it is more about fence's shadow than fence itself here. Taken with an iPhone in Washington, DC (back in March, which is ages ago by now!)

No fences today, but a lazy iPhone shot from the warmer times. How many pictures of the car side mirror do you have? They just ask for picture to be taken. At least mine do.
iPhone multiple exposure with Pixlr and GoArt apps. Original image from vintage fashion show. Thank you for your appreciation, Gail
This is my fourth time in a week and a half that I had to jump in the car or on the train at 5:30-6:00 in the morning, travel for 6 or 7 hours and do a 4 hour long workshop in the afternoon. It looks like on this trip I may learn not only what my melting point is, but what is my breaking point as well. :-)
Two more under the fold. I know all these phone pictures have very little aesthetic value (more like travel notes), but they sure are fun to take.
The tree that big should provide shade for more than one continent.
This is actually a parking lot for the strip of stores not far from my house. I took a shot with an iPhone, processed with the "Tiny Planets" app, and then added polaroid filter for a slightly washed out look. HSS, everyone!

Although technically this is not really a bench. And this is not me on this "not a bench". But I am pretty sure it is Monday. I double checked.
Allahabad, India. One more is under the fold.
Ugandan shillings, Egyptian pounds, Brazilian reals, Russian rubles, Zambian kwacha, Zimbabwean dollars, Tanzanian shillings and Jamaican dollars.
I have a big stash of bills and coins from 22 different countries - leftovers from all my trips. Some I get to use when I go back, but mostly I keep them just because they look cool. And most of them - sorry to say - are better looking than US dollars. Some of the bills here are history by now. Zimbabwean dollars were completely abandoned in 2009. When I was in Harare in 2006, the highest bill was $10 million, by 2008 $10 million wouldn't buy you a sandwich and $100 trillion bills were introduced. Now Zimbabwe relies only on foreign currency - US dollars and euro both are valid. The Russian bill is also not current - this kind is not in print anymore, but I think still accepted. Oh, and HSS, everyone!
While I was in Apex looking for things to shoot with the lensbaby, I discovered the most amazing beer store...It was opened only recently and has unbelievable beer selection, from fancy Belgian kind to local NC draft beer (and NC has a few really nice breweries), which you can buy by a half-gallon in a very old-fashioned glass bottle with the handle. Then you can bring the bottle back and have it refilled. So yeah, I think I found my new favorite destination.
I took this with an iPhone though, not lensbaby, because I wanted to catch the reflection of the girl on the bike and there is no way I could focus that fast with the lensbaby. But iPhone never fails.

iPhone birthday cake made for my boyfriend's son. We bought him a real iPhone for Christmas so now he has the cake to match!
This is what the cap says, but I had to get this mug in the picture too. Here is the story. I got it three years ago at the restaurant in Kazakhstan. They served me beer in a huge heavy mug which had "Siberian Crown" written on it - a beer I never heard of, but which was much tastier than the beer available in Siberia when I lived there. So I decided it would be fun to have this mug and asked the waiter if I could buy it. He said "no", but when we were leaving he run after us and gave me the mug wrapped in a dirty newspaper, refusing to take any money. I was really exited until I realized I have to carry it around for the rest of the trip which included three more countries in Central Asia, crossing numerous borders and taking several flights. The only way I could carry it safely was in my backpack, so I had to endure every custom officer and security guy taking the mug out and looking at me with horror. Yes, I travel with my own beer mug. I never leave home without it. Some people travel with pillow, but I travel with beer mug. I don't think you can arrest me for it. Did I mention how huge the mug was and that it weighted a ton? But it made to US safely and I still use it. But not when I travel.
You can see more of the mug under the fold. Cheers and HTT!
The Pioneer Museum located on Cloyne Ontario is home to some many old pieces of our history. It's free to visit but they rely on donations. For those looking more for a Staycation you just might to explore some of the little out of the way museums that are her in Ontario.
This is the same liquor store window as here. I don't remember what I did to get this distortion, but it makes you feel as if you are a little drunk already. Or a lot.
I had to go to a travel clinic to update my vaccinations last week (like typhoid...and meningitis, yikes!). And although I scheduled my appointment in advance, I still had to wait for 40 minutes. Enough time to take a picture of everything and everyone in the room and then try every single app on them. Which I did.
You can see another "bored" picture under the fold. Oh, and HBW! Although my bokeh here is totally fake.
