The Lighthouse Uncharted Belgian IPA is truly the best of both worlds, which are Belgian beers and hops. From the spicy, dry characteristics we’re accustomed to in Belgian beers, to the tropical fruit notes we’ve grown to love in West Coast IPAs, the Lighthouse Uncharted Belgian IPA brings it all together in one amazing beer

A delicious, hoppy IPA with a smokey aftertaste. This would be a great beer to pair with a hunk o' barbequed cow.

On tap @ Milly's Tavern

Thoughts: Thick copper beer with offwhite matching head. Hoppy front with a slightly malted aftertaste. There was an element in the aftertaste that was.... undesireable :/

Verdict: A decent craft IPA. This particular pour was a bit foul however...

Bryggeriet pub has Nøgne Ø on tap, on this particular day it was the Nøgne Ø IPA - a refreshingly, hoppy draft beer with a sweet malty touch! Yummy!

Santa Monica, California. No doubt this tall glass of IPA is all about the old Piagetian conservation idea that a given amount of liquid will remain constant no matter the shape of the container. The taller the glass, the more arrested development types like me will think we're getting more than a typical glass of beer.

Piaget’s task included showing a child two beakers, one tall and thin, the other short and fat. The tall and thin would be empty; the short full. He would pour water from the short to the tall, asking the child if the quantity of water was the same. In accordance with Piaget’s ideas, the children replied ‘there is more’, because the appearance of the tall made it look as if it were bigger. This concluded that Piaget was correct, and the children did not have the ability to conserve. In his words, ‘children who are unable to conserve believe a perceptual change means a quantitative change.’

He furthered the conclusion to suggest that this confusion was born from a pre-operational child’s inability to understand the notion of reversibility; the ability to see the reversal of a physical transformation as well as the transformation itself. These ideas were used to create the ‘Principle of Invariance’.

On the other hand, even though I may be stuck in a stage that prevents me from seeing "reversibility," I have proven many a time in my younger years that if I drink enough beer I can most easily (and unpleasantly) reverse that beer drinking, moving the beer from a tall thin container (me) to a wide flat container (the floor) all the while knowing that the same amount of beer existed in both places.

Inversion's trio of American Hops deliver an over the top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit . Crystal and Carastan malts provide for a surprisingly soft , caramel complexity for an 80-IBU IPA

The level of cooperation among the teams increased with each day and at the end of the exercise the teams acknowledged that the "working together" aspect was indeed beneficial and important during emergency response.

Le niveau de coopération entre les équipes augmentait au fil des jours et à la fin de l’exercice, les équipes ont reconnu que l’aspect collaboratif était bénéfique et important lors des interventions d’urgence.

Thankfully after that duff Grimbergen I was able to enjoy a truly good beer. Halcyon is a sharp citric IPA brewed in Bakewell. Refreshing with a mighty body and a heady aroma. Classy beer. Is it better that the Kernal I had yesterday? It's too close to call.

A glass of BrewDog Hardcore IPA on draft at BrewDog Edinburgh.

Hardcore IPA, as the name states, is a potent 9,2% abv and 150 IBU imperial IPA, brewed with Maris Otter, Crystal malt and Caramalt, hopped with Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe, and, finally, dry-hopped with Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe. It won a Gold Medal (PDF) at the 2010 World Beer Cup in Chicago in the category Imperial India Pale Ale.

Hardcore IPA poured a clear, red tinged, golden color with a beige head. It sported a delicious aroma combining fresh hops, citrus and pine notes, with caramel and toffee from the malt. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with a velvety smooth texture. The flavor started out with sweet caramel and some ripe fruit before the aroma hops kicked in with plenty of pine and some grapefruit notes. The bitterness gradually took up, creating a long bitter finish with lingering fruit and caramel notes.

This is a world class IIPA!

French craft IPA. Very good beer.

Prohibition Lawless IPA is a lightly hopped ale inspired by the 1920’s brews that sat in underground tunnels and rail-cars destined for dry countries. Prohibition’s complex, refreshing, honest flavors are craft brewed in small batches at a small brewery in British Columbia, Canada. Only the finest ingredients including pristine Canadian water and Cascade hops are used

Scorpion Double IPA is loaded with citrus hops and a huge malt backbone . Brewed in small batches . Moderate body has a slight residual sweetness that leaves an off-dry finish

Hop Henge Experimental IPA is our annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic. It's all hop, no apologies.

The Manic IPA series gives Elysian’s crack team of brewers the chance to indulge their bitter bone, employing massive amounts of such unusual hop varieties as Nelson Sauvin, Citra and the Sorachi Ace grown exclusively by Virgil Gamache Farms. Elysian was one of the first US breweries to check out Sorachi Ace, back when the Gamaches had grown only three plants. It has made its appearance in such other Elysian favorites as Konishiki, Loser and Yuzu’s Golden Ale. It lends a resinously tropical note to any beer it touches.

This is a BIG beer. Mind Blowing ammounts of hops give this beer tons of flavour and aroma. Not for the faint of heart. The big mean cousin to the original Phillips IPA
