Turkey Trip Day 01 - 01.05.2012
Driving from Istanbul involves passing Eastern Thrace (European Turkey) from its eastern extremity to its southwestern one, mostly closely following Marmara Sea coastline. Here’s a quick description of the route: First you should take D-100 or O-3/E80 (motorway/toll-road) to west, generally signed as the direction to ‘Edirne’ in or near Istanbul. Quit the motorway (if you are already on that) in Kınalı exit (follow ‘Tekirdağ’ signs) to D-100, and in the major intersection you’ll soon arrive, take straight road (D-110/E84, again follow ‘Tekirdağ’ signs). Within one and a half to two hours after you left Istanbul, you’ll reach Tekirdağ, the first major city on your route. Note that the blue signs to right (‘Malkara’/’Keşan’) immediately after you enter Tekirdağ will direct you to the ring road, which draws an arch around the city. If you plan to have a meal in this lovely coastal city, you should follow the white ‘Şehir Merkezi’ sign in order to drive through the city. You can find some decent restaurants near the harbour (there are traffic lights nearby). However, with the recent constructions, the ring road has been completely upgraded to motorway standards, so if you are short on time, follow those 'Malkara'/'Keşan' signs. After you left Tekirdağ behind, you’ll pass by Malkara and soon Keşan, in about one hour. In the major crossroad in Keşan, turn left (D-550/E87/E90, follow ‘Gelibolu’/’Çanakkale’ signs). You’ll drive through a mountain pass surrounded by some nice pine woods (slow down around here, as some of the curves are unexpectedly and unforeseenly stiff), and in about 45 minutes after you left Keşan, you’ll pass by Gelibolu town: Although a nice town in itself, this is not where you are heading off to, but rather the town which gave its name to the whole peninsula. In about half an hour after Gelibolu town, you’ll see road signs for the national park (Milli Park) towards right, before reaching Eceabat, which is a few kilometres away. Soon, you’ll arrive to the battlefields. Total dinstance is about 340 km. Expect to drive for at least 4 hours, breaks discluded.

For Zahrah Alghamdi, material and memory are inextricably intertwined. Many of her works involve large accumulations of material that seemingly layer the histories and cultures of the places from which they come. When Alghamdi, who grew up in the southwestern region of Saudi Arabia, visited Palm Springs, she was struck by the connection between the desert landscapes and architectures. For Desert X, she has created a sculpture that echoes and synthesizes the traditionally built forms from her country with the architectural organization she found in the Coachella Valley. The result takes the form of a monolithic wall comprised of stacked forms impregnated with cements, soils, and dyes specific to each region. It expresses a highly individualized language corresponding to feelings, emotions, and memories associated with place and time.
Zahrah Alghamdi (Al Bahah, Saudi Arabia, 1977) explores memory and history through traditional architecture in both medium and assemblage. Her laborious and meticulous process involves assembling particles of earth, clay, rocks, leather, and water. Her medium and process draw on the notion of “embodied memory” to translate and delineate themes of cultural identity, memory, and loss. Alghamdi represented Saudi Arabia in the 2019 Venice Biennale and participated in Desert X AlUla 2020.

My next A Level title is home, and it involves a five hour exam, focusing on a branch of the title that has been previously untouched. I'm currently working on a few ideas and gathering inspiration, this is a potential piece for the exam. However, I'd have do re-do it. I'm quite nervous, but all should go well.
I've worn glasses since I was two years old, and without them I feel lost and, honestly, a little afraid. I hate not being completely aware of myself, so I think my glasses are definitely something I associate with home.

EDIT
Since my teacher didn't like my idea, I've decided to instead focus on musical instruments and musicians.

Led by the Office of the Children’s Commissioner, Takeover Day gives young people the chance to work with adults for the day and be involved in experiencing and learning in ways that connect them with the world of work and raise their personal aspirations for the future. For us at NHS England it also offered us a way to explore with young people how we can really involve them in decision making and genuinely making their voices heard in the NHS.
Our aims for Takeover day were simple:
- Increase Young people's understanding of NHS England's role;
- Provide assurance that the opinions of young people are valued and respected; and
- Increase aspirations, skills, knowledge and inspiration
On Thursday 28 November young People really took over! Working with the Young People’s Health Partnership – one of our national voluntary sector strategic partners including Addaction, Association of Young People’s Health, Brook, CLIC Sargent, StreetGames, and Youth Access – Young People came from all over the country to participate in a days workshop to explore their views and experiences of the NHS and concluded with a powerful presentation to the Executive Team.

Soaring free as a bird along the coast of Northern California in El Granada near Half Moon Bay. Its called 'paragliding' and involves a lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a hollow fabric wing whose shape is formed by its suspension lines, the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing and the aerodynamic forces of the air flowing over the outside. The pilot gains height by taking advantage of lift. Some paragliders are equipped with small engines attached in back of the pilot.

Questioner: I think it’s about not wanting to get hurt. You are trying to stay away or detach yourself from the world, and even from your siblings, your wife, and your children, because when you get attached and there are expectations, there is bound to be hurt.
Sadhguru: That is also the fear of involvement. You think that if you are involved, you could get hurt. But actually, you will not get hurt because you are involved – you will get hurt because you are entangled. It is the entanglement that causes pain and suffering, not the involvement. Because people cannot distinguish between involvement and entanglement, because they do not know how to draw a line between the two, a simple, basic solution seems to be detachment. But detachment is not a solution in life. It is a way of avoiding life.
