The other images have been retouched with the old fashioned mouse, but this shot is the first one to have been edited with my new Wacom Intuos5 (small). I have to say that it is fun to work on the small details when you have a pen and a tablet. I was thinking about getting the medium sized tablet, but the salesman convinced me that this size was good enough. He was right. For those out there that mean that you have to have an A4 sized tab, think again. Smaller tab equals smaller surface to reach over (equals faster workflow). Maybe a medium sized tab in the future, but for now; this tablet rocks!
Taken at Vestvannet in Sarpsborg Norway.

I can imagine this bird in my window looking at me with crazy mind.. like saying: Be careful , I´m looking at you!
Since a while, I was determined to make this kind of portrait.
I finaly succeed after a lot of search and I enjoy the outcome.
Feel free to comment.

Decided to leave in the footprints as they were part of the what was there at the time and not distracting.
No Filters were used on this occasion however, it was rather windy!!!
Bluebell season is upon us with this one taken on a misty morning. And still in Persevering and learning woodland photography when I can.
The misty morning adds such a crucial element, simplifying the often-busy backdrop of a forest. It softens the harsh lines of the trees, creating a sense of depth and drawing the eye towards the delicate blue blooms. The light filtering through the mist seems to illuminate the bluebells from within, enhancing their rich hue and creating a tranquil atmosphere.
How fleeting these moments can be, a brief window in the year when nature unveils this stunning display.
Just a Polariser used here...
My 3 sons are fan of Star Wars. They have so many Lego aircrafts that I decided to make a shot about it.
I took my son with the Canon 24-70 f/4 L IS and the Millenium Lego aircraft with the Sigma 85 f/1.4. I put the aircraft on my living room table.
Strobist info : I took my son sitting on a chair with the same light direction as for the aircraft through a white umbrella (about 1.5 meters on the left side of my son at 24mm and 1/2).
PS process : I tried this time to organize my layers. 1 : put my son in the background (using clipping mask to erase the white fridging area) / 2 : Dodge and burn on my son and specific areas (I must improve my skills...) / 3 : I used Topaz adjust software to add a small HDR effect on the whole picture but I added a layer mask on it / 4 : I played with tones / 5 : I used Topaz Texture software to add texture, light leak two times and again a mask to preserve a little my son's head and arms.

A meandering Poppy field in Wiltshire on a sunny afternoon. Not a field you can see from the roadside, so you do need to walk to get here.
The sun playing hide and seek with the clouds giving some epic shadows, plus a day with some great fluffy clouds.
Dynamic range at times was challenging and very easy to burn out the reds, also used a Polariser set around half way round.
Now and again venture into the woods and as we near Bluebell season this one of Bluebells amongst an impressive looking tree with mist in the background.
I've finally gone and treated myself this Christmas and upgraded my Wacom Intuos of 5 years to a HUION Inspiroy Dial and OMG... Why did I not upgrade earlier, the difference is NIGHT and DAY!
I've avoided editting this photo for so long , because of the way the hair had bent, but the new tablet made it feel like a walk in the park!

Yesterday I've received news that I took 1st place in the prestigious International Photography Awards 2011 (IPA2011) in the architecture category with my Frozen Music series images. I came in 2nd in the same competition last year with my Bridges series. So there's some improvement:) Check here for the winners IPA 2011 winners
I've been very busy with commercial work in Germany and traveling a lot, which is why I haven't been online much lately. My apologies.

A still morning of Kilchurn castle captured last year in Scotland, the water was still and with some epic clouds at sunrise and sunlit mountains.
The water was so clear here as can be seen with the rock in the foreground and dappled light on the mountains. Also a waterfall in the distance to the right of the castle can be seen.
Pressing the 'L' key will give you a better view of the image.
Kase Polariser used.
Storm at Newhaven captured a few weeks back capturing the wave at it's peak.
Conversion to monochrome suited the image, handheld as the wind was Ferocious to use a tripod and the image captured on the beach full force of the wind.
An image captured at Swanage beach moments before the sun came up with a boat on the horizon.
An epic sky, a morning where the pre sunrise was more spectacular than when the sun came up...
Captured earlier this year while on a visit to Scotland and certainly one I wanted to capture for sometime...
This was late into Blue Hour and a 3 stop Kase filter was used.
Certainly strange things happen around the bridge at night including a Parrot that was stuck in a tree...
I was very happy with the dramatic angle of this amazing hotel when I photographed it back in March 2015. But when I viewed the image on my monitor, I was disappointed. The light on that day when I took the shot was very muted due to the sandstorm in Dubai earlier that day. There were no shadows anywhere, contrast was flat across the image and although the hotel is over 100 meters tall, it seemed flattened with the ground. It seemed like a lost case and I decided to leave it unprocessed.
There was a documentary about sharks on Nat Geo the other day. One of the scenes featured a classic shot of the menacing shark's fin cutting through the surface of the ocean. Somehow, the synapses in my brain connected this visual with the aerial photo of Jumeirah Beach Hotel I took 8 months ago. Eureka! I went back to my computer to give this photograph another look. I knew what to do...
I cut a precise mask along the edges of the hotel and separated it from the rest of the shot. This gave me the ability to control the light in the scene with utmost precision. I adjusted the contrast, colour saturation, highlights and shadows exactly where I wanted them. Few hours later, I up with this result. I finally had the shot I needed from the start. Inspiration indeed comes from the strangest places.
Shot with Canon 5DMk3 and Canon TS-E 24mm f3/5L II lens.

A small break from the California shots for some architectural work.
This is a building I've shot a few times before but this time I will create a small series on this subject. Photo taken in Utrecht, the Netherlands with Kees Smans. Check his interpretation of this building.

Simply put: Silver Efex Pro 2 gives you so much more control. I only needed half the time I usually need for creating this type of images.

Captured on a visit to the Isle of Skye recently during sunset time and the setting sun lighting up the cliffs.
Opting here to smooth the sea with a 10 stop Kase filter. Certainly got some great conditions for sunset with the golden light.
Remnants of an old Victorian pier which works well with long exposure photography and fog.
Kase 10 stop filter giving a reasonable amount of time to expose for the drifting fog with the houses and bell tower just revealing themselves, and of course leaving in the seagulls.

A still and moody morning in early November, with the sun breaking through the clouds and lighting up the mountains ahead. This is the view of the castle, which is currently under repair and surrounded by a fence. I decided to leave the fence in the picture.
Using a polariser and a wide-angle lens to capture this image, after making several visits in October and November. I finally got lucky with the weather on the first morning of my last trip.
January 2025 brought some serious weather to Newhaven, and I was out there to witness it! This was one of those days where "getting a little wet" was an understatement – more like being fully immersed in nature's fury! The wind had a mind of its own, doing its absolute best to liberate my camera from my grasp.
I was determined to capture the raw power, and this shot, taken at the precise moment of impact, is the result. Even amidst the wave, the sight of the gulls seemingly enjoying the wild ride added such a wonderful, almost serene, element to the scene.
Wiping down the camera of salt and anything else afterwards.
Certainly an experience!
Sunrise looking across the Quiraing an unforgettable experience.
As the sun peeked through, its warm hues spilled across the Quiraing, illuminating the ancient rock formations. We began in the pre-dawn hours, the landscape still cloaked in darkness. Between passing rain showers and how good it looked when the sun shone through. As you can see the remnants of a Black cloud above.
Long exposure 2 hours after sunset.
Kase 6 stop nd filter to achieve this image and long enough to loose people and smooth out the scene, and enjoying the light given off by the surrounding buildings adding atmospheric.
We spent five days in London this year and made the most of the opportunity to do some long exposure photography.
This was a composition I kept returning to each day, waiting patiently for the right light and conditions. On the final evening—four days after the version I previously shared on Flickr—it came together much better. The timing was more perfect, just as the sun began to set and the sky shifted into beautiful, colours, despite no clouds.
Captured using a Kase 10-stop ND filter.
I worked too much on this shot in post processing. I wanted to make a cartoon style (serious one, close to reality). I don't know if it worked but I post it anyway. Feel free to comment.

Boscombe Pier captured during the relatively short Blue hour period.
Not needing any filters during this time as 20 Second exposure was dark enough not to need them.
No chance of a sunrise but captured some interesting images beforehand and the blues sums up January...
A different point of view.
Drone image of Neist Point from a view looking back towards land and how epic the undulating landscape looks.
A beautiful evening of warm sunlight and calm sea.
Captured a few images of sunset in between capturing this with the drone, hardly a breeze and could not believe how busy the place got at sunset.
A memorable first visit.
I am more of s sunrise than sunset person, this particular evening things fell into place, to me this image captures the serene elegance of Cromer Pier. A long exposure effect, smoothing out the water and the clouds. The pink hues of the sky contrast with the white tones of the pier, creating a soothing harmony.
For me witnessing a rare moment of beauty, as the pink tones at this moment were intense and only visible for a few minutes before fading. This is one of the my favourite moments, as I love the soft and warm colours of this type of sunset.
The sunset illuminated the pier and the water with a golden glow. This image captured the essence of the coastal image in a single shot. Decided to leave in the ghostly images of people meandering on the pier.
Aurora captured in Iceland.
Had a fantastic 10 days in Iceland with this being my first time was pleased with a couple of Aurora nights, only one night at Vestrahorn, this captured from Stokksnes.
This place had a bitter cold wind and was as black as anything, this image was exposed for the mountain and foreground, a little longer than the usual exposures usually you would expose much less time.
Used my new Sony 15-35mm 2.8 lens and probably spent more time enjoying the show rather than photographing it...
Hopefully no one is too fed up with all the Aurora images.
I've been away from Flickr for too long. Time for some new work. Will try to catch up with all of you. If you haven't heard the news of my new website yet (see my profile for the URL): I have done interviews with some great photographers like Cole Thompson and Marc Koegel, really worth reading:)

The Old Man of Storr, is like a a monolithic rock formation, jutting upward like a sentinel. Sitting against a misty backdrop. Well worth the haul up the hill in pitch black to get there for sunrise.
Fortunately for me I do like mist and added bonus with sunrise at the same time, the mist was coming and going soon after getting to the top, however, the sun did not stop by for long and got pretty gloomy soon afterwards.
Certainly a bit of luck for my first visit.
Managing to get out after some weeks of not being able to get around as I had a torn Calf muscle.
What a fabulous sunrise, although only lasted around 10 minutes and a bit of luck with the paddle boarder with just enough shutter speed as I was not aware he was coming through.
My Instagram feed does have the 20 second live version showing this orange sunrise.

My first love was drawing, but that passion has been collecting dust in the corner for quite some time after taking on Myspace layout development as my specialty. I love designing for the web, but there's something so therapeutic about doodling on my tablet til 2 in the morning without the pressure of impressing a paying client.
With Myspace slowly becoming obsolete (and speeding up the dying process with the installation of the CSS incompatible 3.0 profile), I'll soon be out of a consistent job. I -- along with many of my fellow designers -- are in a frenzy to figure out where to go from here if custom overlay layouts will be no longer. I'll still be doing web design, but I want to sink my teeth back into illustration (apparel design, typography, posters, album art, etc). I'm hoping this piece will be the first of many more!
ps. Yes, the reference image is a photo of me.
Another attemp on hand coloring with the wacom. I kind of like it, and it gives things an old feel to it.

I've seen a few interesting looking sunrises in Dubai in my days, but this one was very much unique. I was particularly intrigued by the strange low clouds and the fog which seems to have divided the sky into the night and day like an invisible membrane. What an incredible feast for the eyes!
This is a handheld panorama, assembled from 2 individual, single exposures, captured from the rooftop of the Shangri-La Hotel on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.
The light was so amazing and the contrast was well controlled, so I didn't feel it was needed to work on the Dynamic Image Blending or any other advanced post-processing technique, other than colour grading.
I used the ever-reliable Canon 5D MK III and Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L Tilt-Shift Lens lens. Processed with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Nik Software on a custom built, Windows 10 powered PC.
As usual, I worked on the Wacom Intuos Pro pressure sensitive tablet.
Still waters of Mudeford harbour with this image I had to wade out to position myself to try and get some sort of symmetry.

I never ever do these tagged memes, but since Nathan asked, I guess I can't refuse.
Stuff about me:
1. My first job was at a photo store, and yes, we had an epic "Wall of Shame".
2. My worst job as a model was a bikini calendar shoot in a duck pond in the middle of November... in CANADA. Yeah, I had to kneel in duck crap. It was sexy.
2. When I was 8, I got detention from computer class for refusing to use a PC. I stand by my decision.
3. I was, and still am a rubbish speller. I blame my early french immersion education and my later dependence on Spell Check.
4. I own 11 seasons of ER. I love listening to the medical banter while I retouch photos. I always wanted to be a doctor. In fact, I nearly went into medicine, but I hate hospitals and sick people, so it was kind of a wash.
5. I can pretty much fix anything with duct tape.
6. I am a night owl. It physically hurts me to get up before noon.
7. I can only fall asleep if a movie is playing. It's horrible "sleep hygiene", as my doc would say, but dang it, I just can't stop.
8. I hate romantic comedies. The only thing that could possibly save a romantic comedy in my eyes is if both lead characters were eaten by zombies in the end.
9. I don't care where I am or what I'm doing, 4pm is tea time.
10. Currently on my desk is a Wacom Intuos4, a 4GB Wicket Mimobot, a 4GB Eye-fi SD card, a Griffin PowerDock (currently charging my iPhone and my iPod Classic), and a small chipmunk named Snacktooth.
