An image at sunrise captured last year the sun breaking through with the isolated windmill in the distance.

Another from a location visited last year of sunset and still waters of the evening with Snowdonia in the distance, a tranquil evening of solitude during this time...

Firecrest polariser used here!!!

Herringfleet Mill captured on a misty morning on the Broads.

Taking advantage of the foliage in front with the marshy ground to the windmill. The sky lighting up beautifully as the misty was dissipating.

Contest Entry for Enchantment's Sword and Sorcery

Not my intended location I was actually on my way to a different location when passing and noticing mist around Corfe and parked up and did the climb.

This image captured 40 mins before sunrise and here had to expose for the sky. Within around 10 minutes of being here the wind picked up and the mist was gone. I actually managed to get to my intended location afterwards...

No filters here just a single exposure around 2 stops under as the sky was quite bright compared to the foreground, no bracketing of images...

Herringfleet windmill at sunrise a little later than one I uploaded a few months back, still having that isolated feel and this image captured a little later into the sunrise. Mist was still hanging around on this cold misty September morning with some vibrant colours through the mist and reflection.

Corfe Castle on a particularly foggy morning and with a failure rate of around 99% and trying to fit in weekends with fog don't always go hand in hand. At the start there were quite a few photographers on the hill and about time I left apart from one other was alone.

In the 4 hours I was there the first couple the castle was not to be seen and on occasions fleeting moments and even then barely visible until the later of the morning hence the title used.

Managing to get some interesting images from varying vantage points with this being the first of the ones I kept.

A February morning of trees in the morning mist at a local nature reserve.

The attraction to me here was this line of trees in mist with the sun at this point rising behind me and the colour of the heather and grassland.

Although got a little colour cast from the dominant purple colour probably form the heather utilised this during processing which only required a little crop and not much else.

Forest photography is a challenge and on this particular morning some mist interacting with the sun getting some rays of light helped.

Noticing this beam of light lighting the fern tree and getting myself in a position to get this little fern hi-lighted as the sun rays streamed through the top of the canopy of trees.

A follow up image taken around half an hour later than my previous Corfe image where I had wandered further up the hill.

One of those days where it seemed to be in and out of fog and mostly fog, it was either thick fog or you saw glimpses of the castle then it disappeared again as it did this day. Upper right is where the sun position is and almost burning it's way through the fog.

I made this shot for a friend of my work. Her daughter has a little princess she brought to my work. We did quick shots in a free office. She was siiting on a desk...

I used a simple Yongnuo strobe on the hotshoe in manual mode.

Then I made post-processing because the background was really bad.

In photoshop I did the following steps :

- I cut the body from the original background.

- I made frequency separation to improve the face.

- I use also Topaz Grunge light effect to improve the effect on the dress.

- I did some dodge (no burn) on the face.

- I finally add a background made with Topaz Texture from a white layer.

- Among all small other modification, I notably add a small blur on the foreground.

- And I forgot to mention I add a shadow on the background to make a kind of 3D effect.

The Black Barn in Dorset during springtime. The light working well here bringing out the lines and shadows in the landscape. Passing through on several occasions and this particular afternoon the sun going in and out of the clouds working nicely and some great interest in the clouds also.

No filters used just point and shoot using the full length of the 400mm lens and using the farmers gate as to steady myself.

Very early morning start back in June for this misty morning sunrise, capturing the moment through a line of trees in Dorset. Leaving in the road sign you can see ahead as with the hint of light it points back into the crop field with the trees acting like sentinels keeping watch.

A very peaceful morning with just a couple of photographers around at this time.

Finding June this year was very good for misty sunrises here with some great mornings of mist at this location.

Image captured in Wareham morning after Harvesting.

The bails in mist giving a moody feel.

Adobe Portfolio | Instagram

Captured image within Dorset on a misty morning this one nearly 20 minutes before my last upload and this time of year sun rising straight ahead lighting up the mist and trees, also making full use of the tram lines in the crop field.

One of those great mornings for coastal sunrises.

My intended location was in the morning forest seeing if there was any misty light and it was seeing the sky unfold with colour while driving that I was in 2 minds of whether to carry on or change tact and go for a coastal, and as many of us know when we change our minds we sometimes end up with nothing.

On this occasion it worked out well and just getting the the pier just in time and being here before had a good idea of where I needed to be albeit fighting the sinking sand.

No filters used purely under exposing to get the best out of the sky and although a dozen or so images captured varying the exposures opted for this single moment in time.

Knowlton church visit back in May at sunrise.

Misty morning and turning my attention to this side of the church which I don't often do and it is because the sunrise rising in this direction with mist that made it a more interesting composition.

Here shooting straight into the sun capturing the stunning sun and floating mist giving a dark exposure which is my favourite type of image to capture...

For those who may not know it is supposed to be one of Dorset's most haunted places...

Remnants of the first Swanage Pier with the fog adding a bit of mystery and just making out the row of houses in the distance.

Long exposure using the firecrest 16stop nd filter.

I tried a search for early Butterflies and was disappointed. Had some trouble with my Intuos Pro and needed to reinstall it, so I dug out a shot of an Orange Tip, from last year, to work on. Butterflies are a summer passion and this set is among the best I've taken [I'd like to try image stacking to improve depth of field]. I spent an hour or so with this boy, on a cloudy and breezy afternoon. The sun came out and he was gone!

This mornings sunrise at Avon Beach looking across to the Isle of Wight.

This one worked out nicely with the yacht inline with the needles and the layering of the clouds.

Long Exposure of just over two minutes at Boscombe Pier.

10 Stop Firecrest Ultra filter used.

On this morning I would say because of the fog the ocean was more still and being early enough for the lights on the pier yet to switch off this worked well getting the orange reflection in the foreground.

Apart from getting the right exposure for the lamps had one of my better mornings of long exposure photography and for a change presenting one in colour from this side of the pier and a Black and white version from the otherside after the lights had turned off...

Sunset captured at Hatchet Pond

and managing to get some lit clouds and the wind settling down enough to get a reflection.

A long exposure image captured last July.

Having done a few long exposures on the Banjo pier and heading back turned round with the sunrise exploding in colour, at this point I was in the middle of the road and had the idea of capturing this clock tower which looks very oriental in looks.

Swanage early morning in July the main road is quiet so stood in front of the road ballards and this image captured is just over 5 minutes with a 16 stop firecrest filter.

The time on the clock tower indicating time of capture.

Early start before work to Critchel in Dorset to get this image and a surprise it was a misty morning.

This is a sloping crop field that is part of Critchel trees way ahead that you pass and notice and think there could be a nice composition with the lone tree that can be had here however to get to this part of the field to take this image you have to start way back as not to damage the crops and getting pretty soaked in the process from the morning due.

The idea of a black and white conversion worked out so much better for the images captured here!!!...

West Burton falls captured on a recent visit to the dales. Although not ideal lighting a bit harsh at times this one turned out pretty well.

Having to take of shoes and socks to wade in barefoot and I can tell you the water was pretty cold.

Polariser and getting a single exposure at f16 to work well here and liked the foreground interest of these falls leading you through to the main falls ahead.

My first visit to Yorkshire for a few years and my first visit to these falls and hope to return when there is more likely more water and when the light is less harsh, the village itself is stunning.

Sunrise with a Purple Thistle bush being lit by the morning sun in a field of Red Poppies.

My eye was drawn to the way the sun was highlighting this purple thistle bush being surrounded by red poppies.

Dawn at Durdle Door.

Captured Christmas Morning moments before sun-up the clouds painting red and the horizon graduated orange.

Leaving in the photographers choosing to shoot from a higher vantage point.

Returning to do one of my favourite photography subjects

some Long exposures using a 16 stop firecrest nd filter.

Pin Mill is one of those places I have wanted to visit for a while and had the opportunity to spend a bit of time there.

As it was early afternoon and a mix of sunlight and moody clouds enabling some excellent moody images the only issue was getting the timing right on exposure with this one just over 3 minutes.

Looking down from the lone tree with Dolbadarn castle in the distance.

Another view from the lone tree with the castle and misty light and still waters.

A visit I have wanted to do for a while to see Bintree Mill.

Getting there not realising during lockdown there were lots of private signs put up so you need to be local to be able to wonder down the pathway and onto the grass area and it was fortunate we chatted to a couple of local ladies who we have to thank for introducing us to the current owner and we asked for his permission it looked like he was having a meeting with the local council so was probably concentrating on that meeting and said yes.

Thought that capturing a classic landscape image was worth a go...

Capturing a range of exposures as the dynamic range was high at times due to the bright sunlight and shadow areas, in the end opted for a single exposure and a matter of waiting for the sun so semi hide behind a cloud. Apart from a couple of tweaks this is not far off the original raw image captured.

Horton in Dorset is a place I will make a beeline for on the way to a location as it can get quite foggy leading up to the sunrise and the disappear here the lit sky and fog attracting the eye and managing to capture a series of images of the fog and Horton tower itself which I will upload at a later time. This image around 20 minutes before sunrise.

At the time of year the sun rises directly ahead of these trees you see here which stood out with the contrast between the frosty grass and sky.

Taken back in September during a day of torrential rain this image captured while I was driving round the lakes just outside Grasmere parked up on one of the parking verges and where the mist in the mountains during the rain was hovering and noticing the house looking so small amongst the trees and hillside. The patches in the landscape just starting to change colour.

Port of Felixstowe captured from a recent visit, this one taken from Languard beach just after the setting sun.

As Languard point did not work out what went wrong went wrong so heading back took a few of the images of TITAN container ship unloading. Not my usual type of photography now and again worth trying something new.

No filters used manual settings and timing !!!

Another of my Southwold sunrise images from this year and the explosion of colour moments before the sun came up.

A quarter of a second was enough to get some detail in the waves.

Adobe Portfolio | Instagram

Ventured over to Fairy Falls on this particular morning not completely wind free however as you are quite low below the trees the effects of wind are reduced. Sun was in and out of the clouds and getting the timing right for some dappled light and nicely lit rocks and reflection of foliage in the flowing water.

Using a polariser only and adapting camera settings in manual to the flow of water just right and a compromise of a few moving trees. And of course peace and quiet.

Sparkle sparkle!

Composite image, painting, texturing... It was fun, that one! Check before&after pics and details here!

Captured last November towards the end of Autumn.

Walking into the mist ahead the sun rising on the left still to get to the other side of the trees to the right.

With not being able to travel far I we soon get to see areas we have never been to with this image from the same location as my one from previous with the green field and overhanging trees.

Captured Autumn 2019 and not being able to return due to current climate and hoping to return later this year.

Another of this Sunrise at Herringfleet windmill from the marshy grasslands. A misty morning with the sunrise lighting up the sky and distant low lying mist.

Captured on a Particulary Misty morning at sunrise with this tree capturing the sunlight and lit mist.

You always feel alone and at peace when the air is full of mist...

Colmers hill at dawn, After a few initial images the sun decided to reveal itself from behind some stormy clouds the mist got up giving me some moody images.

This with the sun streaming through the trees on the hill and sunlight catching the mound just in front of the lens.

This a single image, I did take bracketed images and decided against using them instead opting to do some selective processing with a single image.

Bail was laying alongside the sunflowers, a challenging day of light and this one at the right moment of Blue sky and clouds.

In composition why go for the usual when you can go for the unusual.

Adobe Portfolio | Instagram

Herringfleet windmill at sunrise this one a cold misty September morning with some colour through the mist and reflection.

Not being here before not sure if the windmill was under repair as only one set of sails at this time.

Captures at Colmers Hill in May.

Quite an early start as sunrise is around 6.00am at this time of year plus well over an hours drive to include. This composition caught my eye with the fences and undulating landscape looking towards the silhouetted trees on Colmers Hill and lowland mist.

This is a single image exposed for the bright sun and recovering shadows in LR.
