Happy Waterfall Wednesday!!!

This is a very small part of a much larger river scene....the water lever was right to get down in here and shoot this....nothing terribly exciting but I did think the triple cascade was kinda cool.

With time on my hands, I am learning to study nature in my garden.

The specimens were not disturbed, in fact, I doubt if they even noticed me.

Sometimes it's hard to find an image when the landscape is so overwhelming beautiful. Brutally cold and grey, I decided to find a small tree to focus on.

I get great peace when I'm alone with my camera. No pressure on myself to hurry up, or find the perfect shot. With the risk of sounding silly, I go into a very calm place. I can breathe more easily.

Thanks for all your comments and faves, much appreciated as

always.

My new approach...a new series of images

The gorgeous heather clad New Forest heaths on this particular morning were smothered in…..well…………. photographers, so I retreated to a favourite fragment of woodland in search of more intimate details. This fern over the brook through the woodland caught my eye in some brief dappled light.

I've edited this photo a gazillion times... and here's another version of The Tempest!

I think I've taken a few decent shots in my life... and then there's this from over 3 years ago... still trying to find the one that will match it lol :)

The second of this little grouping of images which are more intimate studies of the dune curves.

White Sands National Park, New Mexico, USA.

Back in October, I took a trip to White Sands National Park in New Mexico, USA with my Flickr friend (and real friend!) Frank Loose. You can say all kinds of horrible things about social media - and you'd be right - but it can (and Flickr, in particular, can) be an amazing way to connect you with people with shared interests. Frank and I connected over ten years ago on Flickr and have become fast friends since then. We've been talking for years about doing a photo trip together and we finally did it in October this year when we travelled to New Mexico to photograph White Sands. If you'd like to read about our trip, you're welcome to check out my blog post about it.

White Sands National Park covers about a third of a huge dunefield between the San Andres and Sacramento Mountains in southern New Mexico. White Sands is a bit of a misnomer, as the dunes are actually made of gypsum, not sand, and though they are white in bright sunshine they can take on some amazing colours – from beige to pink to blue – depending on the light conditions. Frank and I photographed the dunes over four days of morning and evening visits and really came to love this magical place. I hope you enjoy this series of images (and do check out Frank’s beautiful work as well!).

If you'd like to see the whole series, in the order they are meant to be seen, take a look at my White Sands Album. If you prefer, you can just look at the colour images or just at the more experimental black and white images.

Ah, "M". A favourite model for a few years pre-covid. She was good friends with Chloe, another of my favourite models. M came to one of Chloe's sessions with me and was so taken by the process that she started modelling too. But now she's moved on to other things in life.

Busy at work right now, will comment in a short time, when taking a break )
