Weir Lake, on the eastern slope of Table Mountain in the Eastern Sierra range of California is really a small pool along the South Fork of Bishop Creek flowing from South Lake.

At roughly 9500' of elevation, this location is often snow covered by mid-Autumn, though at this time, there was little snow, and plenty of cover. It was nice to experience some colors of fall, having grown up on the East Coast where Autumn is much more vibrant and varied in its hues.

Congrats on Explore!

I love these purple flowers, that I had to look up to find out what they were, Blue Grape Hyacinth. A few other photographers have favoured these as well and it's not hard to see why, as they are a very interesting flower. As it implies via the name how often in nature one witnesses imitation from one object to another, the variation is fascinating, especially for a nature nerd like me.

Here's to the weekend, I hope everyone has a good one and so as always, thank you! :)

I just love the low winter light - especially that first touch of light highlighting the contours and surfaces on a pristine beach - until the dog walkers get their hands on it anyway :):)

“In the flush of love's light

we dare be brave

And suddenly we see

that love costs all we are

and will ever be.

Yet it is only love

which sets us free.” ― Maya Angelou

Up close for tonight’s setting sun with a backdrop of cirrus cloud

Since we have been hit with the Corona Virus I have done very little shooting and have certainly missed it. In between packing and preparing for our move I have had a few minutes for backyard photography. The monk parrots are always fun to watch and great fun to capture a few images..

Wishing you a very lovely day and a blessed one day !!

another shot from one of my favourite places, the 'Two Water' mangrove forest in Krabi.

Quite a unique little biosphere, where at high tide saltwater from the Andaman Sea and fresh water from the mountain forests mix in a small stream. The constant exchange of nutrients combined with shelter from the mangrove trees create an ideal nursery for everything that thrives in this climate. An incredibly rich little biodiversity hotspot, besides providing a visual spectacle.

Please feel free to check my Thailand album for some other views from this same place published previously, e.g. a close up of a tree reflected and one of the magnificent palms that grow in the surrounding wetlands.

Please view at the full size of 1600. It's also more pleasure for you. (I hope so)

As well as photographing pebbles and leaves in Scotland, I spent a lot of time photographing bits of grass. All things I probably could have photographed at home. I always enjoy making this kind of image. But I’m never quite sure later if I’ve created a work of art or just a load of arty bollocks. It's a fine line! You decide.

In winter there are times when the intimate ambience of Venice appears with the daily lives of their inhabitants. That what I really liked and tried to capture on our last trip to this city in February.

J.Saramago.

In the heart of the most secret mine,

Inside the most distant fruit,

In the vibration of the most discreet note,

In the spiral and resonant conch,

In the densest layer of paint,

In the vein that probes us the most in the body,

In the word that says softer,

In the root that goes lower, the more it hides,

In the deepest silence of this pause,

Where life became eternity,

I look for your hand and decipher the cause

Of wanting and not believing, final, intimacy

This is for Macro Monday's "Crack" theme. I'm finding these challenging, but really good to stretch the imagination & photography skills.

So this is a crack in one of the bricks on our house. Rotated horizontally for easier viewing. A couple of things this made me think about:

My wife is going to kill me because the first time I post a photo of the bricks that make our house, I post a cracked one. With a weed growing out of it. 😬

Isn't it cool the way nature takes over manmade items eventually, our house being 25 years old (this is probably more a testament to what a lazy handyman I am looking after the place). I love those old temples in Cambodia where the trees have consumed the temples. They look amazing! 😮 Must dig out some old pics of that.

Rotating the pic to horizontal made me wonder what if we lived in a horizontal world, you know if there wasn't gravity & stuff, what would humans look like? Would we be horizontal instead of standing/sitting vertically as well? Would we have 2 legs& 2 arms on the same side of the body? Would we watch TV sideways? We would look at contact's photos on Flickr laying down, in which case this photo would be the right way up. Or would it. Too hard to think about for this tired brain 🤔😵‍💫

Anyway I digress sorry, have a fantastic week ahead ✌😀
