Ah, "M". A favourite model for a few years pre-covid. She was good friends with Chloe, another of my favourite models. M came to one of Chloe's sessions with me and was so taken by the process that she started modelling too. But now she's moved on to other things in life.
I'm pleased to announce that a selection of my bobcat images will soon be featured at the G2 Gallery in Venice, California. The show is titled "Urban Carnivores" and runs from August 7th through September 16th. There will be a reception on August 11th. Donations will support Laurel Klein Serieys' research on the effects of urban development on bobcats in Southern California. If you're in the area I encourage you to drop by, as many of the images are new and previously unpublished.

These two were grooming each other for quite a while but this was a 'special moment.'
I stumbled on Leyla's account on Model Mayhem way back in 2015 or 16. She seemed interested in doing a shoot but then at the last minute decided she did not want to do the nude style I had been proposing. I wanted to go ahead with the session anyway as I thought she would still enjoy it and I'd get a chance to work with two people instead of one for a change. I'm glad we went ahead as I really like a lot of the images we made.

"Egret Intimate Interaction" by Patti Deters. A Great White Egret (Ardea alba) parent gently nurtures her very alert chick in a nest made of twigs and branches. The intimate scene lasted just long enough for me to capture the tender moment. It was almost as if they were silently communicating - perhaps "discussing" some important survival lessons. There were other chicks in the nest as you can see by the white fluffy feathers, but this particular baby was the most eager to nestle with mama. These wading birds are found throughout the USA, and this particular spring nest was seen in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Thank you for viewing this picture. This couple was dancing to the Jazz music and they were very beautiful to watch. I'll have to learn how to dance like them one day.
Polaroid week, day II
A couple of years ago I have discovered this beautiful, small, intimate cinema hidden in my neighborhood. The first movie I've seen there was (I think) Nick Cave's documentary "One more time with feeling" and we were maybe 8 souls in the screening hall all together. That was such a more appropriate and fitting way to watch a movie of that kind, rather than being surrounded by hundreds of people in a huge, commercial movie theater.
So, this second photograph is of the waiting room of the City Kino Wedding, which is one of my favourite places to go to in Berlin. The waiting area also serves as a small yet so very cozy bar, where the wine is delicious and the staff always so very friendly! The entire space has a strong 70's style vibe to it and its coziness always gets you in a special "pre-movie" mood.
There are so many reasons to why I love coming here, beginning with the fact that it's within walking distance from my place (which I love especially on the way back home, because it gives a nice chance to think about or discuss the movie I just saw). Then there's the program that never fails to include plenty of indie films (including Swedish ones for which I am very grateful, considering my passion for the Scandinavian languages and culture). And then there's the general atmosphere that makes me feel like I somehow belong to this beautiful, little, underground place.
P.S.: Just to give you an example of how much I like this place: when Spike Lee's movie "BlacKkKlansman" came out in autumn last year, I was DYING to see it! But the movie started playing in this cinema about a month later than in other cinemas in Berlin. So I gathered all the patience and devotion I had in me and waited a month longer, so that I could go and see it in my favourite cinema and by that show my support for it! <3 ✊
