This year I have stayed really close to home and decided to focus a lot of my shooting on the smaller details of the autumn season.

Little Ringed Plovers, Charadrius dubius.

Flamborough, East Yorkshire, England.

Another big crop.

Archive shot

A spring day in Yosemite in 2022 went incredibly fast, but one day is better than none. I had hoped to go to higher elevations, but in early April, all those roads were still closed.

I have an aversion to iconic shots - so would never show the obvious compositions. I stumbled on a number of smaller scenes - this was one that caught my eye.

There always seems something special about the light in Yosemite - and the Sierra in general.

This lovely spot is situated near the Amsterdam red light district. By exposing for the highlights, I was able to preserve the sense of intimacy.

Enjoy!

In this intimate snapshot, we're drawn into the miniature world of Calibrachoa, often affectionately known as million bells. Two dainty blossoms take center stage, their petals a soft fusion of pink and yellow, creating a gentle contrast against the lush green foliage surrounding them.

The flowers are reaching out over a textured gray surface of a patio. This juxtaposition of the delicate organic forms against the hard, man-made background emphasizes the flowers' fragile beauty.

Calibrachoa's resilience is quietly celebrated here, as these blooms continue to offer their cheerful presence even as summer fades. The slightly out-of-focus greenery framing the scene adds depth and a sense of abundance, hinting at the plant's prolific nature.

This image captures a moment of quiet beauty in everyday surroundings, reminding us to pause and appreciate the small wonders that often go unnoticed in our busy lives. It's a visual haiku, speaking to the enduring charm of nature's small miracles.

I've been working on this one for awhile. I wanted to get it perfect just like seeing it through my own eyes all over again.

Finding this spot was incredible. It had begun to rain, the evening had moved in and the light was almost gone. I'm standing above this lake from the road in utter astonishment. It was SO silent. So still I could hear the quickening of my own breath. The lake looked like an oil painting of a mirror. Of a surface that called to be danced on while the last of the Autumn trees watched silently on. Like the elderly who watch the young people dance. A wistful almost sad like presence. Standing in the cold rain I was the intruder. I only hope to have done the moment justice...

The church stands intimately on a right-hand bend of the road. It is an extremely simple building of solid twelfth- and thirteenth-century construction. The chancel was rebuilt during the latter period. There is a small south porch which shields a doorway on which are carved many so-called Crusaders' Crosses. Like many churches in east Kent. Stodmarsh was restored in the 1880s. One of the two bells is among one of the oldest Church bells in England and supporting the bell turret is a fabulous X-shaped brace that cannot be found in other church in Kent.

The church is well maintained by the village on a voluntary basis and was recently redecorated.

Shame about the wires but they are part of Kent's landscape!!!

MY THANKS TO ALL WHO VISIT AND COMMENT IT IS APPRECIATED

Sossusvlei is famous for its adjacent Deadvlei. Thousands of images are to be seen of this place. At my umpteen visit to Sossusvlei I imposed a restriction on myself. Not to go to Deadvlei! I got out of the car and went the opposite direction with an exercise in mind: abstract and intimate images in the sand dunes of Sossusvlei. This was the last image shot on that morning.

I'm going back to an image from my Iceland trip. Here's an intimate view of the beautiful Brúarfoss. Brúafoss is by far the best waterfall I've laid eyes on. The turquoise blue waters was hypnotizing. The location is just outright beautiful. I had to get an intimate image of these falls. I miss Iceland.

Stay tuned, I have a ton of new images coming in the future! Images from Zion, south central Utah, the Eastern Sierras, and LOTS of new images from Death Valley. Hope all you guys are good out there, peace and love to all, and continue to inspire each other.

I still have a few flower images remaining from my self given project to improve my flower photography. The one requirement I had for this project was to push myself past the static way that I had photographed flower before. As I shot more flowers I found myself using the bokeh areas in creative ways that add mystery and beauty to the images. It was a lot of fun creating with my macro lens in a way I had never done before.

Another non-standard view of a classic.

Here's an intimate little forest landscape scene that I captured more than a year ago.

I used a long exposure of four seconds to blur the foamy water while keeping the rock and fern pin-sharp.
