Lost in bokeh, Blackpool pier - super bokeh edition
In view are lights from the Blackpool central pier abstracted by bokeh, from the North pier, looking out over the wet sand, which reflects the light for our enjoyment.
This is a more abstract shot than usual, but I think the shapes and colours have grown on me, the pier and the Ferris wheel are nicely abstracted by bokeh. From the thumb you can probably tell what it is, while large it becomes more abstract, strange that isn’t it?
Shooting wide open, with available light, we can see the lights of the attractions beyond the old pier fencing.
The Final fence - RIP, below in comment...
I had rambled on about the question of some deep meaning to fences, and it being the last barrier before the weekend, but there are many barriers.
I've some ideas about doing 'final' fence shots, but while mooching around at the end of the pier in the darkness there was, what I can only imagine was a tribute, the sort of tribute or shrine like collections of flowers and toys that you find at the site of road fatalities.
In this case, and I’m only guessing here, there were withering flowers and a teddy bear that had been pinned to the dark at the end of the pier, and I think these will be for a 14 year old boy who sadly died while swimming near the central pier this summer.
I didn’t get a great composition, but I think the stark barrier between the sad, sad loss of a loved one and the all the brassy fun of the attractions beyond was deeply moving, so I thought I’d share...
Have a great and happy fence Friday! HFF!

One of the central features inside Amococo, a Luminarium by Architects of Air. The colours and tones are all produced by natural light filtered through the inflatable shell of the building. Inside, the tunnels, pillars and cavities seem alien and semi-organic.
Architects of Air bring a Luminarium to Nottingham University's Lakeside area early each June. Always worth a visit!

I have my craft paints stored in a plastic tub upside down so you can see the color of the paint without having to pick up each one individually, saw the idea on Pinterest so I can't take the credit.

Rainbow In My World Today
by - Casarah Nance www.poetrysoup.com/poems_poets/poems_by_poet.aspx?ID=47419
There is a rainbow in my world today,
With every word your write my way.
Colors of emotions flow in harmony,
as they spread across the sky in unity.
Wrap me in your red, orange and blue,
fill me with the violet passion of you.
You make the sky shine after that rain,
softly your soul pushes away the pain.
In every luxurious line that you say,
you are the rainbow in my world today.
Epically so.
This is the teaser for a stopmotion film I actually started before The Taming of the Shrew in About Five Minutes, but I haven't finished it yet and schoolwork takes priority... ;)
I made this about a month ago, after getting a good 10 seconds of 20 FPS video tonight, I felt I deserved an upload.
Verily, I shall have the work in readiness at the 'pointed time, perchance before. :D
Enjoy, and please C&C! :)
These were brass dividers that were brought inside the building two years ago after the Christchurch earthquake. They have been sitting there abandoned in a restaurant that will be either repaired and reopened at a later date or demolished like the many others of it's kind.
inside the famous "temple of the tooth" in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Occasionally I struggle in post processing about white balance. Dirung shooting and in the first attempts I was convinced that a cold light blue look would offer a great contrast to the candles' warm tones. But after some pp work I stuck to a warm overall note which is the way I usually prefer and I felt that this worked best after all. Let me know what you think.

One single long exposure. No photoedition : straight out of the camera except for contrast/crop.
I've tried a mix between Jelle Schuurmans's technique and Rom Lightpainting's technique.

I've got a nice "collection"of nuts and bolts that i menaged to accumulate over the years and are resting inside a nice container inside the shed...it's time to bring them out and show the world that even the most ordinary things can be beautiful as long as you are ready to give them the opportunity to shine...
Lello & Irmão Bookstore is considered the third most beautiful library in the world. The store has a neo-gothic façade, where you can see two figures painted by José Bielman, representing the Science and the Art. The building which was inaugurated on January 1906 has a marvelous stairway and the wooden walls are also very exquisite. The stained glass ceiling adds an amazing detail with Lello’s motto “vecus in labore”. Rumor has it that J.K. Rowling’s inspiration to write Harry Potter has begun in Porto, particularly at this library. The well-known writer lived in Porto for 10 years working as an English teacher in the early 1990s and she used to drink a cup of coffee at the second floor of Lello’s bookstore (at the far end of the picture). In order to get inside the store, you will need to purchase a ticket at an outside boot but if you end up buying books, the entrance fee will be returned. Either way, it is well worth the experience.

Visitors wander from the conservatory to the sunny outdoor Waterlily Display in Longwood Gardens, which is tucked into a protected courtyard (accessed only via the Conservatory). In the foreground of this photo is the sunken marble floor of the conservatory's centerpiece Exhibition Hall, typically flooded with a few inches of water to reflect the ever-changing seasonal displays.
