"The light of our new sun scattered through the hallways, ever changing like a kaleidoscope with the rotation of our generation ship. Command had issued all settlers to ready up as we approached the planet they named Atlas: the world-carrier.

My family was among those who had signed up to colonize the new world and extract what good it had to offer. The maneuver was a one off. We only had one shot to get all the necessities down to the planet while the generation ship would use its gravitational pull to sling onwards in space.

A vanguard party had been dispatched years before we entered Atlas' orbit to prepare the landing site for our arrival and given green light for the settlers nine months before the day we were to set foot onto the soil of our new home. There were approximately thirty thousand people to mount landing craft on the day and as we felt the dropship detach from the mothership, every single soul on board knew that our generations-long voyage had found its end."

Proud and relieved to finally introduce you to ATLAS, a collaboration hosted in The Workshop, that went up and down many mountains until I decided to do all parts myself.

It was a learning experience, certainly for me, and while not as originally envisioned, it was successfully completed in the end and I want to thank the tagged folks for their input and their presence that kept me going to the finish line.

This scene, and all to follow in this series, was captured entirely in camera. Screen background with complementary light on the left; background build on a bent 48x48 baseplate to give the sense of the curve of the inside cylinder of the generation ship; front layer built flat; bitlights spread across the brickbuilt elements.

This imposing, twisted chimney stands 8 metres at the north of the Rhymney Valley, for all travelling on A465 to see. It was designed by New York based artist Brian Tolle blue_link_icon.png and is his first installation in the UK.

The sculpture was unveiled in 2010 and aims to create a futuristic vision rather than a being a literal depiction of the areas past. It is sited near the former Union Ironworks and on land that was once a railway line, and was created with input from the residents of Bute Town.

The sculpture is 16 metres long and is a realistic brick design which was carved in polystyrene, then coated in 6mm of Armour-Lyte for durability and strength, before being hand painted by Theatre Company Steel Monkey blue_link_icon.png and being lifted into position by crane

So this was shot yesterday during some rain. It was such a warm nice day though. I went with a secret friend to shoot this. Someday I'm going to be able to link her haha. We had so much fun on this shoot and I can't wait to have more. But for now we're just secret buddies <3.

I'm sorry about all the edits in comments...I know it is ridiculous haha but I couldn't decide. It took me all night to finally come up with what one I wanted to use and it was not without much input haha. So please tell me which ones are your favorites.

This little American Pika can be forgiven for not understanding the coming devastating effects of climate change. It has a brain that is about the size of a lima bean which is engaged primarily in day to day survival. Many pikas never see a human being, so they can be forgiven for not understanding that we are directly responsible for the global warming that may very well cause the demise of some of their populations in parts of North America.

No such forgiveness should be granted to a U.S. President who, in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence, simply chooses to not believe that humans are responsible for climate change.

The National Climate Assessment draws on input from 13 federal agencies, including NASA and the Defense Department, with contributions from 300 scientists. The latest volume spans more than 1,600 pages, and a key recurring theme is that climate change will be devastating...

POTUS, response: "I don't believe it".

Another version of this beautiful staircase, this time in portrait format. It looks a bit more dynamic this way and the composition is better – thank you so much for your input, Karsten.

Eine weitere Variante im Hochformat von dieser wunderschönen Treppe. So kommt sie etwas dynamischer und die Komposition ist besser - herzlichen Dank für Deinen Input, Karsten.

Full Moon rising over the cross at Mt Helix in San Diego.

I have to thank Wenjie Qiao and his app Planit for Photographers. The app is spot on. It can be a little intimidating at first, but watch the videos and it will start to make more sense. One thing that Wenjie was saying that makes the app much more accurate is to input the height of the landmarks you are shooting (such as the cross).

We had a different initial set up for this shot but the clouds where obscuring the moon to much, so we figured out the next best location and headed over there and got a much better composition I think.

The cheap, plastic Diana is probably the worst camera I have ever used—I need to shoot with it out more often! I love the erratic exposure, terrible color rendering, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, and massive lens flare. All add up to unpredictable film fun.

Sgt. Todd Kleisner said the department ordered nine new Chevrolet Impalas with black paint, a blue stripe and sleek logos for a modern look. The vehicle is reflective and easier to see at night.

The old cars were white with green and gold graphics.

“We’ve been driving white cars for about 16 years,” Kleisner said. “The graphics on those cars are that old as well, so it was time for an update.”

Chief Dave Moore asked officers if they wanted to change the squads. He formed a committee with officers from each shift to work on a new design.

Officers looked at squad cars in other jurisdictions, Kleisner said. They also looked at designs in law enforcement magazines and on the Internet.

Officers on the committee asked others on their shift what they wanted in colors and design, he said.

Sign-A-Rama then created three different options for the new squads, Kleisner said. Officers voted for their favorites.

“We took officer input,” he said. “It wasn’t just the committee’s ideas. It was basically everybody.”

The new cars also have a redesigned interior, Kleisner said. They have more room and are more comfortable.

The department gets new squad cars for about half its fleet every year, Kleisner said. The fleet includes 17 patrol cars, two K-9 patrol cars and five cars for school resource officers.

“Everybody really seems to like them a lot,” Kleisner said.

"We’ve even been getting some positive comments from the general public.”
