For comparison with my before photos. Now to get some trees!!

New walls are up, complete with texture & paint. New bamboo floors are in. They are an espresso brown even though they do not look like it.

 

Wood pillars have been stripped and restained to match the floors.

 

And the kitchen cabinets are sitting ready to be installed.

I discovered that it was much easier for me to just use my hands (sort of like clay). I wasn't going for a machine-smooth look, and using my hands I could layer the mixture to create a weathered texture.

That bookshelf is too close to the chair for it to recline. and we obviously need to find a place for bags to go.

Lettering in progress, day & night

So here's the progress I made tonight on my dad's friend. I do believe it's coming along rather nicely. Obviously, it's not finished yet. But we're moving. Rather well, I'd say, considering I've only worked at it for a couple hours.

The ceiling here in the stairway has been patched and painted! I removed the curtains and hardware from the window and repainted the woodwork.
