sweater recreation project in progress

(blog post)

the stripes have an interesting repeat. I have no idea if this is going to work for the pattern or as a cowl or wimple, but the Mountain Colors Weavers Wool Quarters the pattern is designed for was totally unavailable when I started this - even in Missoula, Montana, close to where Mtn Colors is located. Crazy! So since I had this super-soft soywool from a sale, I thought I'd try it. The Mtn Colors wool my sister used for hers was finer, and much less bulky. But OTOH, hers is such a variegated blend of dark tones, the pattern barely shows. We didn't see any colorways of MC-WWQ that would work - all are pretty much dark heavy mixtures of a zillion shades. So it's "mox nix": 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

whoo hoo.. a new pile of wood to create on!

Basswood, about 4" tall.

Love the colors. Not so big on the way they worked up in the entrelac, what with the strange diagonal striping.

Pattern: March Mystery Sock (Ravelry's Sock Knitter's Anonymous Sockdown)

Yarn: LL Shepherd Sock: Daffodil

Needles: Size 1 knitpicks DPNs.

Lettering in progress, day & night

So wandering about the city my friend Adam and I came across this guy Sight1 doing a fresh piece near Spadina. We stopped and asked if it would be alright to take some shots while he worked, said it was cool as long as it was non-profit. So here is one of those shots.

I am still looking for this guy to give him copies of our shots, he was a cool guy for allowing us to take shots and ask him questions. His site isn't working anymore so if anyone knows him, pass me his contact please.
