VICTIM OF LOVE

Born Bad
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Pete Bellotte 1979
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You've been crying
And there ain't no use denying
It was me
Who put you through this misery
And I'd like to say I'm sorry
But I can't, no I can't
Nothing's gonna change me
Baby, that's the way I am
I was born bad
Always been the same, yes I was born bad
Never gonna change 'cause I was born bad
Only me to blame 'cause I was born bad
Yes I was born bad
Always been my habit, I was born bad
Just can't seem to help it, I was born bad
Always gonna happen, I was born bad
'Cause I was born bad
I mistreat you
And you know I always cheat you
But that's me
And that's the it's always been
And I'd like to say I'm sorry
But I can't, no I can't
Nothing's gonna change me
Baby, that's the way I am

Do You Want To Know A Secret?
Music & lyrics by The Beatles, Lennon-McCartney
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll never know how much I really love you.
You'll never know how much I really care.
Listen,
Do you want to know a secret,
Do you promise not to tell, whoa oh, oh.
Closer,
Let me whisper in your ear,
Say the words you long to hear,
I'm in love with you.
Listen,
Do you want to know a secret,
Do you promise not to tell, whoa oh, oh.
Closer,
Let me whisper in your ear,
Say the words you long to hear,
I'm in love with you.
I've known the secret for a week or two,
Nobody knows, just we two.
Listen,
Do you want to know a secret,
Do you promise not to tell, whoa oh, oh.
Closer,
Let me whisper in your ear,
Say the words you long to hear,
I'm in love with you.
#195 of 365 Daily Drawings
Inspiration: Lots of squirrels in the yard today
Result: Bubblesqueak
Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Platinum Carbon Fountain Pen in a Stillman & Birn Epsilon series sketchbook ( 21.6 cm 27.9 cm / 8 1/2” x 11”)
Location: Home
Note:...the rodent militia has been busy dashing about garden & deck, stuffing their faces with seeds & entertaining my cats....so I was inspired to draw a squirrel. I hesitated when committing to filling in the figure with shapes instead of fur...those first few circles being the hardest...but once you start you just gotta go for broke now that you've laid some ink. Good self challenge.
#76 of 365 Daily Drawings
Inspiration: Joulupukki / Yule Goat
Result: naughty goat
Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Micron 005 & 02 pens, in a Moleskine plain journal
Location: At home
Note: The word for Santa Claus in Finnish is Joulupukki/Yule Goat and a straw goat is a traditional symbol of this festive season. This is a nod and a wink to family in Finland :)
....and I wanted to draw a cute goat. Maaaaaa.
Daily Drawing #365 of 365
Inspiration: last day of my drawing project
Result: Okay...what should I do next?
Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Platinum Carbon fountain pen in a Stillman & Birn, Epsilon sketchbook
Location: home
Notes: A little over a year ago I took all my creative insecurities, locked them in a closet and sat down at my desk to draw. Instead of making excuses of why I could not, I was going to develop a new habit. One that saw me put pen and/or brush and pencil to paper every day, and I would do this for an entire year to produce 365 daily drawings.
I am untrained in both technique and use of the materials.
The end products would vary in quality when I made mistakes, was rushed, bored or tired, I'd learned to live with and learn from it, after all, there is no editing with ink, watercolour and pencil crayon.
It has been a tremendously positive experience as friends, family and strangers have encouraged me to reach my goal and I thank you all for that.
I have grown more confident in many areas and hopefully my skills with these tools will continue to improve as I start new projects as this one ends.
...and this one must. Forcing myself to conceive and create a single drawing every day is holding me back from more involved work which I am eager to explore. Project 365 has achieved its most important goal; for the first time in 48 years ,when someone asks me if I am an artist... I respond, yes.

SWEET CAROLINE
Music & lyrics by Neil Diamond 1969
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where it began
I can't begin to knowin'
But then I know it's growin' strong
Was in the spring
And spring became a summer
Who'd have believed you'd come along
Hands, touchin' hands
Reachin' out
Touchin' me
Touchin' you
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would
But now I
Look at the night
And it don't seem so lonely
We fill it up with only two
And when I hurt
Hurtin' runs off my shoulders
How can I hurt when holdin' you
Warm, touchin' warm
Reachin' out
Touchin' me
Touchin' you
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would
Oh,Lord, no
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
Sweet Caroline
I believed they never could
Sweet Caroline
Another colour in the November 2015 Inkdrop from Goulet Pens. This one breaks in a really interesting fashion. Reminds me those space energy entities of the old Star Trek episodes. :)

Note: Last page of the book so scanning across the spine was problematic and not one I was willing to fuss over today as the scanner and I were not seeing eye to eye and I have other things to do dash off to. <.<

"Are we really happy with
This lonely game we play
Looking for the right words to say
Searching but not finding
Understanding anyway
We're lost in this masquerade..."

Training myself to draw has been an interesting exercise. I studied the workds of Nicolas de Crecy, the Rat Rod artists, Stephan Marjoram, R.Crumb, O.Wilson and many others. While I certainly will never develop the kind of talent they had, this has been a good way to "kill time" during the various periods of lockdown here in France during the Covid Pandemic.
Alternative Facts no.2 ~ the NRA pushing The Hearing Protection Act: in which they want to make silencers easily and widely available to protect the ears of shooters. Apparently regular ear protection gets in the way of the fun. Police organizations are not a fan of silencers....nor would anyone caught in a random mass shooting...hard to duck or run when you think it's just a car backfiring in the distance. On the other hand, the use of headphones on a regular basis, at a level higher than 60db does the same damage as repeated shooting of a gun without protective gear. Statistically in the US, 1 in 5 teens can’t hear rustles or whispers. Personally it just strikes me as a money grab...and a dangerous one at that.
Adding to my Long Beach homes collection I have searched high and low for the perfect bungalow and I think I've made the right choice just about done with the foreground still plenty of hours to go till completion
