Over a year ago when we were confined to avoid spreading a potentially deadly virus, I knew much of my photographic adventures would need to be curtailed. In similar time, something by Stephan Marjoram inspired me to fill a bit of time doing something creative. So I took up ink drawing. Just to see what I could do. I "borrowed" from many different styles as I attempt to explore the medium. And with zero photography projects in the queue I might as well fill this space with something. So here goes.

....and the painting is in the mail, so the pressure is off as the deadline is met. Now I can have fun with these daily drawings again.
Two Arab lads saw me sketching and stopped to chat. One said I was self confident to be able to sketch on a Saturday night in this spot. I told them that lots of people passed me but they were the only ones to stop and ask me about my work. He said it’s natural to stop and chat to someone drawing. They asked if I could draw them and that I should be in no hurry. They said the shoes look better drawn than their faces!
I sent them this sketch.
A4 drawing produced using only a fine liner to challenge myself in drawing skills and experiment with effects that can be produced.

Note: My creativity was completely scatter shot today, as I couldn’t settle on any one of the ideas running around in my head …. like a classroom with a substitute teacher who had lost all control.
…so finally just drew a version of the dress that I liked the most from this lovely collection. It’s just as well…the entire day has felt as though my brain has been offline no matter what I’m doing, so I’m going to mark ANY drawing as a success.

Ink drawing of calendula seed head and seeds, magnified. The seed head, with its' cluster of curled seeds, reminds me of a crown. The seed head fell apart after I handled it too much and I was amazed to see the different shapes and sizes of the individual seeds, each one with a little burr on the back of it.
