"... And now I know
Spanish Harlem are not just pretty words to say
I thought I knew
But now I know that rose trees never grow in New York City
Subway's no way for a good man to go down
Rich man can ride and the hobo he can drown
And I thank the Lord for the people I have found
I thank the Lord for the people I have found..."

Jon: What are you doing?
Purrlock: Catnip Mousie. It helps me THINK. Impossible to sustain a nip habit in London theses days. Bad news for brainwork.
Jon: Is that...THREE mousies?
Purrlock: It's a three mousie problem.
Training myself to draw has been an interesting exercise. I studied the workds of Nicolas de Crecy, the Rat Rod artists, Stephan Marjoram, R.Crumb, S.Clay Wilson and many others. While I certainly will never develop the kind of talent they had, this has been a good way to "kill time" during the various periods of lockdown here in France during the Covid Pandemic.
At first 4 year old Cara was cautious with the ink and worked over a small area of her large A1 white card. This ink exploration turned into a dark cave-like hole. I encouraged her to explore the movement of the Chinese calligraphy ink brush and take her lines "for a walk". I also encouraged her to stand up to take control and move with her brush. Here, she began to embrace the movement of the brush and made bold arched lines over the top of the dark hole.
In her next ink exploration (pictured), Cara decided to mix coffee into the jar of Chinese ink and experimented with vertical slanted lines. She observed the changes in tone as the ink flowed brown into black.
"A zebra!" she announced.
