The forecast wasn't very good so just went for the stroll on the downs above Blewbury, but just to show you never know I was treated to some lovely light for about a minute.
Was blessed with clear skies and a perfect evening to shoot Neowise in Morro Bay. So happy I got the chance to see and photograph this memorable event, and I couldn't ask for a nicer setting.
An interesting note:
The Satellite WISE was launched from our very own Vandenberg AFB on 12/14/2009 for the purpose of Wide Field Infared exploration. In Sept of 2010 it ran out of the necessary cooling hydrogen for that purpose and went into hibernation. It was reactivated in Sept of 2013 to use the still viable camera to search for Near Earth Objects (NEO), thus officially being renamed to NEOWISE. It discovered the Comet which they also named NEOWISE in March of 2020.

I always walk past this group of trees on the South Downs. Had never thought of taking a photograph here, but the light that evening was splendid, with the strangest mist rolling across the hill tops.
Love the trees at Los Osos Oaks but such a challenging area to photograph. Would love to see them in fog, but that never seems to happen. I decided to try some IR there and it seemed to deal with the contrasty light a little better.
The Italian Cemetery is one of the many cemeteries in Colma, just south of San Francisco. Infrared, on a modified Sony A7II.

These three gathered in a random field, of which I have no clue the location, on the South Downs.
Always get distracted by the old trees scattered amongst the sand dunes on Newborough Beach whilst walking to the lighthouse.
Out in the countryside on an absolute scorcher of a day yesterday! Was nice in the shade and when the wind picked up, but got a bit much late afternoon, so had to give in. Found some nice trees on the walk though.
A brief escape from reality, walking through the countryside. Lasts but only a moment. Always worth it.
It's been rather hot on the south coast lately. So it was nice to take a walk in the countryside, where it was a little cooler.
A different type of wave this time. Taken during the horrific hot weather last week. Fortunately we still managed to get out and explore, although I was hugging the shade most of the time. Karl Horsman found this scene under the trees.

These two together, watching the sun go down over the rolling hills of Sussex.
Sometimes just a dusting of snow can be the most beautiful...
But don't be fooled, my friends. Some trickery is going on behind the scenes here :)
This is actually a fall color image that I converted into an IR rendering through a software filter, changing the look completely.
The 'snow' on the ground and trees is actually the green in the grass and the green on the tree leaves that haven't yet turned. Proving that the old adage of 'seeing is believing' is not always true!
I do a lot of creative experimenting with many of my images. Most of the time I don't like the results and I move on. But every once in a while I like what I see and I go on to post it. This is one of those times. Hope you like it, too.
Rochester, New York. Originally built to house a patent medicine laboratory and warehouse. Constructed of load-bearing brick walls, a cast-iron vault, timber framework, and a cast-iron façade.
First of a collection of tree images.
I've been drawn to photographing trees for a while now. Seeking out lonely and isolated subjects resting at the top of a hill, or sitting patiently alone in a field. It has become an addiction. Searching the South Downs for new trees to capture. Hoping the light gives me a helping hand along the way. Standing around for hours, waiting for the sun to bring the moment to life. Often disappointed, but never disheartened. I will return another day.
Every tree, or group of trees, with their own character or story. Perhaps spirits of the fallen. Some twisted and contorted, reaching out in pain. Others at peace after long hard years in the mortal world, now watching life pass it by.
The seasons change, breathing new life into the trees, only to take it away again months later. But each one a character, begging to tell its story, of which I am more than happy to listen.
I once complained that there were no trees to photograph in my area. How wrong I was. The truth is I just wasn't looking.
Second in a collection of tree images.
This one sitting in a field, passed by hundreds of times. Was great to finally see it up close.
One from a very hot and humid day on the hills. Love how this scene looked like the parent tree was out with the kids for the day!

This one tucked behind a chalk covered hill on the South Downs.
This pond is quite full even though the weather is quite dry, full due to warm temperatures thawing a bit of the permafrost.
