I wanted to include a detail view of the flowers on my digital hybrid card.
These flowers are from the HA Freeby Flowers DigiKit. They are printed on the same piece of paper as the pink leaf pattern, but the appear to be on a separate layer!
The flowers in the DigiKit are set up to have drop shadows, so that when you place them on your digital piece, they appear three dimensional and have a drop shadow. That's quality! Thanks, Hero Arts! ♥
Theme MY COUNTRY - which must include the novels of Jane Austen. We have had two very significant holidays here, so it is also a perfect jigsaw for the theme HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS.
June 2017:
It has been a while since I've uploaded any photos of jigsaws - I've been on holiday and have also been busy listing and packing them away. (We got back from Washington DC the night before the most recent BCD Meeting so couldn't go to that either - the theme was Map puzzles so perhaps I should tackle one or two map jigsaws soon to take to the next meeting.)
This beautiful painting of rainy pavements outside Bath Abbey by Irene Marsh is a lovely contrast to the heatwave in Washington and back home in England. The view is almost identical to that obtained from the window of a Landmark Trust property we stayed in with friends three years ago (Marshall Wade's House, on the left opposite the Pump Rooms).

For more examples of Irene's watercolours visit her website. To date Wentworth have issued jigsaws of Bath Abbey and The Circus II.
Irene says, "I want my work to show life as it is today, right down to the last puddle. I love the reflections you see on traffic, paintwork and windows but most of all I love old, wet paving stones.β

Krysten's #recipe picture here includes usual #ProteinShake ingredients such as flax milk, protein powder and chia seeds, but for this breakfast #smoothie, she didn't forget to include a nutrient-dense #wholefood, leafy green #vegetable.
Pines Wheat Grass is a perfect and convenient source of the chlorophyll and vegetable fiber necessary for effective #probiotic growth in the colon. Whole food leafy greens are called #prebiotic because the fiber is still intact. Unlike juice, whole food veggies don't go quickly through the digestive tract. Their consistency serves as media for the friendly bacteria that we need for good health.
Although juices are quickly absorbed, whole foods are more thoroughly absorbed because they provide the perfect environment for important micro-organisms.
Krysten (@krystenskitchen) is an expert on food allergies. She serves as the Foodie & Food Allergy Guru for @FoodBackground. FoodBackground.com showcases companies that contribute to a better planet with genuine organic and #vegan products from companies that haven't been bought out by big non-organic corporations.
Although Pines (wheatgrass.com) has received plenty of inquires, we do not intend to sell out to a large corporation that would seek to take advantage of the organic marketplace, while continuing to use pesticide-laden GMOs for most of their other products. After 40 years, Pines is still owned by the same people and is still 100% #organic and #nongmo. Our shareholders consist of more than 100 farmers and others who invested an average of $200 each because they believed in our ideals.
All Pines' #greensuperfoods are packaged in amber glass bottles with special metal caps that allow us to remove the oxygen. The Great Patriotic War (Russian: ΠΠ΅Π»ΠΈΜΠΊΠ°Ρ ΠΡΠ΅ΜΡΠ΅ΡΡΠ²Π΅Π½Π½Π°Ρ Π²ΠΎΠΉΠ½Π°Μ, romanized: Velikaja OteΔestvennaja vojna) is a term used in Russia and some other former republics of the Soviet Union to describe the conflict fought during the period from 22 June 1941 to 9 May 1945 along the many fronts of the Eastern Front of World War II, primarily between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. For some legal purposes, this period may be extended to 11 May 1945 to include the end of the Prague offensive.
History
The term Patriotic War refers to the Russian resistance to the French invasion of Russia under Napoleon I, which became known as the Patriotic War of 1812. In Russian, the term ΠΎΡΠ΅ΡΠ΅ΡΡΠ²Π΅Π½Π½Π°Ρ Π²ΠΎΠΉΠ½Π° originally referred to a war on one's own territory (otechestvo means "the fatherland"), as opposed to a campaign abroad (Π·Π°Π³ΡΠ°Π½ΠΈΡΠ½Π°Ρ Π²ΠΎΠΉΠ½Π°), and later was reinterpreted as a war for the fatherland, i.e. a defensive war for one's homeland. Sometimes the Patriotic War of 1812 was also referred to as the Great Patriotic War (ΠΠ΅Π»ΠΈΠΊΠ°Ρ ΠΎΡΠ΅ΡΠ΅ΡΡΠ²Π΅Π½Π½Π°Ρ Π²ΠΎΠΉΠ½Π°); the phrase first appeared in 1844 and became popular on the eve of the centenary of the Patriotic War of 1812.
After 1914, the phrase was applied to World War I. It was the name of a special war-time appendix to the magazine Theater and Life (Π’Π΅Π°ΡΡ ΠΈ ΠΆΠΈΠ·Π½Ρ) in Saint Petersburg, and referred to the Eastern Front of World War I, where Russia fought against the German Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The phrases Second Patriotic War (ΠΡΠΎΡΠ°Ρ ΠΎΡΠ΅ΡΠ΅ΡΡΠ²Π΅Π½Π½Π°Ρ Π²ΠΎΠΉΠ½Π°) and Great World Patriotic War (ΠΠ΅Π»ΠΈΠΊΠ°Ρ Π²ΡΠ΅ΠΌΠΈΡΠ½Π°Ρ ΠΎΡΠ΅ΡΠ΅ΡΡΠ²Π΅Π½Π½Π°Ρ Π²ΠΎΠΉΠ½Π°) were also used during World War I in Russia.
The term Great Patriotic War re-appeared in the official newspaper of the CPSU, Pravda, on 23 June 1941, just a day after Germany invaded the Soviet Union. It was found in the title of "The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People" (Velikaya Otechestvennaya Voyna Sovetskogo Naroda), a long article by Yemelyan Yaroslavsky, a member of Pravda editors' collegium. The phrase was intended to motivate the population to defend the Soviet fatherland and to expel the invader, and a reference to the Patriotic War of 1812 was seen as a great morale booster. During the Soviet period, historians engaged in huge distortions to make history fit with Communist ideology, with Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov and Prince Pyotr Bagration transformed into peasant generals, Alexander I alternatively ignored or vilified, and the war becoming a massive "People's War" fought by the ordinary people of Russia with almost no involvement on the part of the government. The invasion by Germany was called the Great Patriotic War by the Soviet government to evoke comparisons with the victory by Tsar Alexander I over Napoleon's invading army.
The term ΠΡΠ΅ΡΠ΅ΡΡΠ²Π΅Π½Π½Π°Ρ Π²ΠΎΠΉΠ½Π° (Patriotic War or Fatherland War) was officially recognized by establishment of the Order of the Patriotic War on 20 May 1942, awarded for heroic deeds.
The term is not generally used outside the former Soviet Union, and the closest term is the Eastern Front of World War II (1941β1945). Neither term covers the initial phase of World War II in Eastern Europe, during which the USSR, then still in a non-aggression pact with Germany, invaded eastern Poland (1939), the Baltic states (1940), Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina (1940) and Finland (1939β1940). The term also does not cover the SovietβJapanese War (1945) nor the Battles of Khalkhin Gol (1939).
In Russia and some other post-Soviet countries, the term is given great significance; it is accepted as a representation of the most important part of World War II. Until 2014, Uzbekistan was the only nation in the Commonwealth of Independent States that had not recognized the term, referring to it as World War II on the state holiday - the Day of Remembrance and Honour.

Capstone, along with its partner Quadrangle Development, is currently developing a mixed use project on a site located at 9th Street NW and L Street NW. The $230 million project includes a 310-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, a 190-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel, and 230 residential units. The project is located in the Shaw Historic district and includes the redevelopment of a number of historic buildings located along 9th Street NW. Capstone recently completed the PUD process and is currently overseeing the design and financing of the project, which is projected to break ground in 2015.
Letβs say, in a few years, youβre searching for a hotel room adjacent to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and the swanky Marriott Marquis is full.
No problem. Maybe thereβs a vacancy at the Courtyard Marriott next door. Or, perhaps, the Residence Inn by Marriott, next door.
Quadrangle Development Corp., as QC 369 LLC, has submitted a planned-unit development application to construct a 570,000-square-foot, 12-story building at Ninth and L streets NW, adjacent to the new Marriott Marquis. The $230 million project, called Columbia Place, will contain a hotel (really, two hotels, both Marriotts) and multifamily residential.
The site owner is (wait for it) Marriott International Inc. The project architects are Cooper Carry and TVS Design. The developer, Quadrangle, also worked with Marriott on the 1,175-room Marquis, which opened last month.
βOverall, the proposed development will significantly improve the existing area by virtue of the exceptional architectural design of the building, which carefully considers the nearby uses and aesthetics,β per the PUD application. βThe proposed PUD will provide new housing and hotel opportunities to District residents, will put additional βeyes and earsβ on the street, and will create an improved pedestrian experience along 9th and L Streets, N.W.β
One part of the $230 million structure will contain a 124-room, extended stay Residence Inn by Marriott and a 377-room Courtyard Marriott, though the two will have separate entrances, both fronting L Street. The Residence Inn will include a restaurant and bar, 11 meeting rooms, a fitness center, internal courtyard with fire pit and βoptional yoga deck,β and a retail space accessed from Ninth Street NW.
The 200-unit residential building, comprising studios, one- and two-bedroom units, will be located on the western side of the site, rising to a height of 110 feet. The Lurgan Building at 919 L will be retained and converted into 15 units. The new structure will have a rooftop recreation space and pool deck with a grill area, fire pit, lounge seating and βchess board turf.β
Quadrangle plans to demolish two historically contributing buildings, 911 and 913 L St. NW, while incorporating portions of nine other historic but dilapidated buildings into the development.
The project will be built in two phases, the hotel first followed by the residential.
The local advisory neighborhood commission unanimously backed the conceptual design and massing plan as it went through the Historic Preservation Review Board process earlier this year.

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. Have a look for a down-arrow symbol or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike β anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Upper Antelope Canyon is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona within the LeChee Chapter of the Navajo Nation. Antelope Canyon includes two separate, slot canyon sections β one on either side of Route AZ98 a few miles East of Page. These canyons are referred to individually as Upper Antelope Canyon or The Crack; and Lower Antelope Canyon or The Corkscrew.
The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is TsΓ© bighΓ‘nΓlΓnΓ, which means "the place where water runs through rocks" and water is what created the canyons as it flowed through and eroded the Navajo Sandstone. This primarily happens during flash flooding. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic 'flowing' shapes in the rock.
Flooding in the canyon still occurs. A flood occurred on October 30, 2006 that lasted 36 hours, and caused the Tribal Park Authorities to close Lower Antelope Canyon for five months.
Common Iora
The common iora (Aegithina tiphia) is a small passerine bird found across the tropical Indian subcontinent with populations showing plumage variations, some of which are designated as subspecies. A species found in scrub and forest, it is easily detected from its loud whistles and the bright colours. During the breeding season, males display by fluffing up their feathers and spiral in the air appearing like a green, black, yellow and white ball.
Ioras have a pointed and notched beak with a culmen that is straight. The common iora is sexually dimorphic, males in the breeding season have a black cap and back adding to a black wing and tail at all seasons. Females have greenish wings and an olive tail. The undersides of both are yellow and the two white bars on the wings of the male are particularly prominent in their breeding plumage. The males in breeding plumage have a very variable distribution of the black on the upperparts and can be confused with Marshall's iora, however, the latter always has white tips to the tail. The nominate subspecies is found along the Himalayas and males of this population are very similar to females or have only a small amount of black on the crown. In northwestern India, septentrionalis is brighter yellow than others and in the northern plains of India humei males in breeding plumage have a black cap and olive on the upper mantle. In southwestern India and Sri Lanka multicolor has the breeding males with a jet black cap and mantle. The forms in the rest of southern India are intermediate between multicolor and humei with more grey-green on the rump (formerly considered as deignani but now used for the Burmese population).
Several other populations across Southeast Asia are designated as subspecies including philipi of southern China and northern Thailand/Laos, deignani of Myanmar, horizoptera of southern Myanmar and the island chain of Sumatra, cambodiana of Cambodia, aeqanimis of Palawan and northern Borneo, viridis of Borneo and scapularis of Java and Bali.
Ioras forage in trees in small groups, gleaning among the branches for insects. They sometimes join mixed species feeding flocks. The call is a mixture of churrs, chattering and whistles, and the song is a trilled wheeeee-tee. They may sometimes imitate the calls of other birds such as drongos.
During the breeding season, mainly after the monsoons, the male performs an acrobatic courtship display, darting up into the air fluffing up all his feathers, especially those on the pale green rump, then spiralling down to the original perch. Once he lands, he spreads his tail and droops his wings. Two to four greenish white eggs are laid in a small and compact cup-shaped nest made out of grass and bound with cobwebs and placed in the fork of a tree. Both male and female incubate and eggs hatch after about 14 days. Nests predators include snakes, lizards, crow-pheasant and crows. Nests may also be brood-parasitized by the banded bay cuckoo.
Ioras moult twice in a year and the plumage variation makes them somewhat complicated for plumage based separation of the populations.
A species of Haemoproteus, H. aethiginae, was described from a specimen of the common iora from Goa.
The Soysambu Conservancy includes much of Lake Elementaita and borders Lake Nakuru National Park to the west. It covers 190 square km (48,000 acres). It was created on the grounds of the Soysambu Ranch in 2007 to conserve the flora, fauna, and scenery of the Soysambu Ranch; it offers a home to over 450 bird species and 50 mammal species, including the critically endangered Rothschild (or Nubian) giraffe. The land of the ranch was appropriated by Hugh Cholmondeley, 3rd Baron Delamere, in 1906. The ranch still is owned and operated by the Delamere family.

This fisherman was happy to show me his catch at the World Dab Championships. Unfortunately, these are Rockling, so they don't count
From a quick visit to Sheffield Park (NT), to view the Autumn colours before they disappeared. Not the right light for wide views, so I went for a mainly macro approach

This is a photograph from the finish of the 7th annual Kinnegad 5KM Road Race and Fun Run 2016 which was held in the town of Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 13th July 2016 at 20:00. This race has firmly established itself on the local race calendar and yet again the race got wonderful support from local clubs and runners. The race was first run in 2010 and has used the same route for each o the seven runnings of the race. The race is flat and fast and takes runners on traffic free route which includes 3KM on the local road 'Boreen Bradach'. The boreen is a flat and sheltered by hedgerow is a well used local walking and running route. The boreen emerges onto the main street with the finish is on this famous main street of Kinnegad in front of Harry's Hotel. This streetscape will be well known to many many people who travelled between the east and west of Ireland before the arrival of the motorway system which we have today. Over 230 people took part and the results by Premier Timing Systems are available here [www.premiertimingsystems.ie/]. A very heavy shower of rain before the race cleared off and the race was ran in calm mild conditions. Overall the race was very well organised and there was Garda help with traffic control in the town for the start and finish of the race.
The location of the START (goo.gl/maps/JWpnK) and FINISH (goo.gl/maps/es2Up) of the race are shown on Google Maps. Prize giving, refreshments, parking and registration is at Kinnegad GAA club just off the old Mullingar Road about 500m from the start (goo.gl/Ia9cIR)
Our full set of photographs from tonight's race is available here www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157671016784465
The race is organised by Coralstown Kinnegad GAA Club with proceeds from the race going towards the development of the club.

USING OUR PHOTOGRAPHS - A QUICK GUIDE AND ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS
Can I use these photographs directly from Flickr on my social media account(s)?
Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. You can share directly to: email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.
BUT..... Wait there a minute....
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.
This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.
Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.
In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. You will find the link above clearly outlined in the description text which accompanies this photograph. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting takes a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.
I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?
Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland.
