Governor O'Malley Holds Press Conference on Improving the Eastern Shore's Dover Bridge by Tom Nappi at Easton, Maryland
Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown makes remarks at improving health outcomes initiative press conference by Tom Nappi at Capitol Heights, Maryland
This is the way I illuminate the table in my mini-van. The assembly's has two lamps, but the second lamp has been removed for clarity's sake.
The press-on/press-off battery-powered lamp is attached with screws to a piece of PVC conduit, which is stuck into a curved piece of conduit, which is held in place by two conduit clamps. The arm swivels on the side of another piece of conduit. The assembly is attached to a piece of painted plywood that is attached to the seat's headrest posts. The lamp arm can be easily rotated to put light where I want it and can be removed by merely lifting it out of the brackets. Duct tape is applied to the plywood behind the brackets to create the optimum pressure/tightness for holding the arm in place.
The two pieces of conduit that are "stuck together" were a bit wobbly at the connection, so I added a small screw to firm up the connection. A note on the image shows the screw's location.
This permanent configuration replaces a prototype that lasted one trip. See photo below.

Raldorf Reigns Supreme in Bang Saen
Thailand Super Series
“If we learn from each success, and each failure, and improve ourselves through this process, then at the end, we have fulfilled our potential and performed well”
Ferdinand Porsche
After the dramatic events that unfolded of Rounds One & Two of the Thailand Super Series in Buriram, it was now time to get to the grips with tight twisty streets of Bang Saen in Chonburi.
The Bang Saen street race is like no other in Thailand, a favourite of the drivers where concentration is vital to keep you out of the unforgiving walls. This quiet little fishing village comes alive for one week as teams from across the globe join the event and are cheered on by in excess of 200,000 spectators over the course of the week.
Before any thoughts of Bang Saen began, the UNIXX – TR-Motorsport had held a test day at the Bira International Circuit on the outskirts of Pattaya. The purpose of this test was to confirm that the fuel pressure problems that arose in Buriram were now fixed and to give Thomas, The Danish Dynamo much-needed track time in the Porsche 997.
The team completed over 70 laps with no issues to report and Thomas, although very tired felt a lot more comfortable with the car and its setup. A sterling job by the B-Quik Racing Mechanics, who, after Buriram worked tirelessly to replace numerous parts associated with fuel pressure.
Free Practice
The Team arrived in Bang Saen early in the week to begin preparations and everything was looking good for the weekend ahead. Due to the extra busy schedule this year the GTM & GTM+ Cars would share Free Practice with the GTC class which resulted in a very heavily congested track. Thomas struggled to find the space for a clean lap as the faster GTM cars passed him around the circuit so he decided to complete just three race pace laps before pulling into the pits to make adjustments to the setup and prepare for session two. Even though the track resembled a busy Friday in Bangkok, Thomas still set a very credible time of 1.47.131 putting him 2nd in class.
Session two was a vast improvement on the first session, after a few tweaks to the setup Thomas ventured out early to try and find some clean air and managed to get 7 competitive laps completed, a quick dash to the pits to make some minor adjustments followed by 3 more laps left Thomas with a fastest time 1.43.804 in the GTC Class.
Qualifying
After the data from Free Practice was analysed it was apparent that Pole Position was well within the reach of the team, it would all depend on if Thomas could get a clean lap and the safety car wasn't deployed which could shorten or even end the session. Again Thomas ventured out early to try to gain an advantage and it seemed to have worked until a few slower cars on the track hampered his first few attempts, however, as the session progressed Thomas found himself in space and set a blistering lap of 1.43.355 breaking the lap record and putting the car firmly in Pole Position for Races 1 & 2.
Race 1
Thomas, well known for his good starts delivered once again making the perfect getaway up the main straight. Although Thomas seemed to have everything under control he had to keep pushing as the second place driver and Team Mate Khun Pete in the Porsche GT4 was now setting fastest laps and was beginning to gain on the #29 Porsche. Thomas responded by setting fastest laps himself and a new lap record of 1.42.766 as he hurtled around the street circuit and increased his lead. Even when the inevitable safety car appeared and bunched the field up, the chasing cars could do nothing to catch the Porsche. Thomas gave a masterclass in precision driving around the beach resort hitting every apex perfectly and following the optimum line with every lap. The victory came at a canter and with it 20 vital points in the race for the drivers' championship. Team Mate Khun Pete, followed up with a second place to help the Porsche duo also claim the Team Trophy for Race 1.
Race 2
Due to the success in Race 1, an extra 30 kgs were added to the car this was on top of the 25 that had already been added due to the results in Buriram, this totalled an extra 55 kgs making the car a lot trickier to handle and leaving absolutely no room for error. A fresh set of Yokohama tires were put on the car to help increase the grip and try to negate the effects of the extra weight. Another trademark start from Thomas left with him a small gap from the second place Toyota driven by Khun Manat. The extra weight was causing the car to slide this allowed Khun Manat to close each time and forcing Thomas to push that bit more. The safety car was deployed, again bunching up the field leaving Thomas under pressure from the Toyota, however, as the lights went green once more Thomas was able to manage the gap all the way to the chequered flag and claim another 20 points. Thomas again set the fastest lap of the race albeit nearly one second slower than his lap in Race 1 due to the extra weight.
Standings
After the stunning performance in the Beach Resort of Bang Saen Thomas and the team are now just 2 points behind Khun Manat in the race for the Driver’s Championship and are leading the Team Championship by 11 points from Team Toyota. There are now 4 races left with a maximum of 80 points to race for so everything is wide open and promises to be a very exciting climax to the Thailand Super Series 2017. UNIXX – TR-Motorsport will next be in action at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram for Rounds 5 & 6 of the Thailand Super Series August 17-20.

Cobb Classic Vs Valdosta
The #12 Winston-Salem State University Rams could not overcome costly penalties and a late fumble, as they fell to #23 Valdosta State 22-17 in Powder Springs, GA Saturday evening.
The loss drop Winston-Salem State to 1-1, while Valdosta State improves to 2-0.
The game was a rematch of the 2012 DII National Championship game, and it lived up to its billing in an exciting game.
After a scoreless first quarter, Valdosta State got on the board first on a Jake Medlock one yard run for score, and the ensuing two point conversion game the Blazers an early 8-0 lead.
After another Ram punt, the WSSU defense bowed up, with Terry Ross intercepting a Jake Medlock pass and returning it 52 yards for a touchdown to move the Rams to within one at 8-7.
But Valdosta State would answer right back with a 10 play, 70 yard drive finished off by a Cedric O'Neal three yard run to push the Blazers back out to a 15-7 lead heading into the locker room at the half.
WSSU would take the second half kick and march 60 yards in 12 plays, but could only manage a 21 yard field goal from Alejandro Suarez, as the drive stalled, cutting the Valdosta State lead to 15-10.
Once again however, the WSSU Rams could not get off the field on third down, as it led to another Blazer score. This time O'Neal reached the endzone from five yards out to push Valdosta State out to a 22-10 lead in heading into the fourth quarter.
WSSU's Phil Sims would lead the Rams on a long 14 play, 99 yard scoring drive, capped by Sims' first touchdown pass as a Ram, when he would hook up with Marcel Caver for a 15 yard scoring pass and reception to pull the Rams to within five, at 22-17.
Winston-Salem State's defense would continue to play well and forced VSU to punt on several occasions, and the Rams seemed to have the momentum as they would get the ball back with 6:52 left to play.
Rudy Johnson would lead the Rams on a 10 play drive, but on first and goal, Johnson would turn the corner and would score, but eh play would be called back for a holding penalty. On the next play, Johnson would be hit and fumbled and Valdosta would recover at the 12 yard line.
The WSSU defense would stand tall once more, to force a punt, but Valdosta's Medlock would pinned the Rams deep, as he would kick a 75 yard punt, pinning the Rams at the two yard line with 1:09 left.
Phil Sims would find Donovan Rasberry twice, and Jamal Haizlip once to get the ball to midfield with 10 seconds left to play.
But on the final play, Phil Sims' hail mary pass would be knocked down at the goal line, giving the Valdosta State Blazers the 22-17 upset win.
Winston-Salem State did out produce the Blazers in yardage (399 to 391), but the Valdosta State defense kept the pressure on Rudy Johnson and Phil Sims all afternoon, forcing the Rams into just 15 of 44 passing. WSSU was also flagged eight times for 71 yards.
Offensively for WSSU, Rudy Johnson led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 64 yards, while Maurice Lewis rushed 12 times for 42 yards. Tyree Massey rushed seven times for 34 yards.
Phil Sims finished the afternoon just nine of 29 passing for 146 yards and one touchdown, while Rudy Johnson went six of 14 for 116 yards.
Marcel Caver led the Rams in receiving with five catches for 57 yards and one touchdown, while Eric Williams finished with three catches for 80 yards. Bronson Green (40 yds), Jalen McDaniel (37 yds) and Donovan Rasberry (34 yds) had two catches each.
Terry Ross led the Rams defensively, with 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup and one interception returned 52 yards for a score. James Hickman finished with nine tackles and Duvontae Covington finished with seven, and Xavier Gregory six tackles on the afternoon.
Winston-Salem State will come back home to Bowman Gray Stadium next week for another tough out of conference matchup, this time hosting the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University at 6:00 pm.

HSQ, set on a former quarry, was designed to offer a dynamic working environment with an impressive 600,000 sq feet of modern office space plus accommodation for 5,000 workers.
Situated on an axis between the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dr Steevens' Hospital and Collins Barracks, it is at the heart of a very important cultural area. It was planned that the development would include 40,000 square feet of cultural space but I have not idea what that actually means.
To create a sustainable development, the largest biomass plant in Ireland was installed within the Brunel Building to provide heating and hot water to apartments, with capacity to serve all uses. Excellent Sedum-planted roofs are used within the scheme and office buildings incorporate triple-skin glazing and are achieving performance equivalent to BREEAM Excellent. Extensive use of prefabrication and off-site construction used helped reduce the carbon footprint and accelerate the programme.
After taking about 250 photographs I am convinced that the SEL18200 works very well combined with the A7RM2 and I am certain that this combination outperforms the NEX-7/SEL18200 combination [I really do hope that this is not wishful thinking on my part].

African trypanosomoses are parasitic diseases of animals and humans alike. The animal form, called nagana, and the human form, called sleeping sickness, affect the health, livelihoods and development prospects of millions of people. Trypanosomoses also hinder the optimal utilization of some of the most fertile lands in sub-Saharan Africa
Currently, the six countries that receive priority assistance from the project are: Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda in Eastern Africa, and Burkina Faso, Ghana and Mali in Western Africa.

Several factors improve to the development of acne, such as sebum and keratin production, acne-causing hormones, bacteria, blocked pores and inflammation. The connection between diet and acne was contentious, but the latest research demonstrates that diet may play a substantial role in acne development. Refined carbs are absorbed rapidly into the bloodstream, which rapidly raises blood glucose levels. When blood sugars increase, insulin levels also increase to help shuttle the blood sugars out from the bloodstream and into your cells. Dairy Products: The research thus far has concentrated mainly on teens and teenagers and has just shown a correlation between milk and acne, not a cause and effect relationship. It isn't yet clear how milk might contribute to the formation of acne, but there are some suggested theories. Milk is known to increase glucose levels, independent of its effect on blood glucose, which might worsen acne severity. Fast Food: Junk food items, like burger, nuggets, hotdogs, fries, sodas and milkshakes, are mainstays of a typical Western diet and might increase risk. It's uncertain why eating junk food might increase the chance of developing acne, but a few researchers propose that it can affect gene expression and change bodily hormone levels in a manner that promotes acne development. Omega-6 Fats: This can be since Western diets contain considerable quantities of soy and corn oils, that are rich in omega-6 fats, and several foods which contain omega-3 fats, like walnuts and fish. Whilst the connections between omega-6 fatty acid and acne, there have been no randomized controlled studies on this issue, and more research is needed. Protein Powder: It's a rich supply of the amino acids leucine and glutamine. These amino acids create skin cells grow and divide more rapidly, which might contribute to the formation of acne. The amino acids in Whey Protein may also stimulate the body to produce higher amounts of insulin, that has been linked to the development of acne. Sensitive Foods: Anti-inflammatory drugs, such as corticosteroids, are successful treatments for severe acne and that individuals with acne have elevated levels of inflammatory molecules in their bloodstream. Food sensitivities happen when your immunity system mistakenly refers to food is a threat and launches an immune attack against it. Chocolate: A more latest study found that acne-prone men who consumed 25 g of 99% dark chocolate had an increased number of acne lesions after only two weeks. While the latest research supports a connection between chocolate consumption and acne, it remains unclear whether chocolate really causes acne. Day 5.
After a fine night's sleep, broken only by the local Scops Owl hooting and calling from outside my room, surprising how 9 hours sleep can improve things.
I did miss another Hoopoe on the wires at the back of the hotel this morning, but we did see one on the way out later.
HOOPOE!
I had the same breakfast: yogurt and hones, followed by pasties and coffee, so was ready for the day.
Plan was to drive to Windmill hill", a ridge on the island's highest mountain, so see yet more orchids.
It would be a 90 minute drive.
We loaded the vans and set off, 40 minutes along tarmac roads before turning off and up. The road continues up for tens of miles, gradually getting worse and worse, ending up as a gravel track hugging the side of the mountain, with falls of hundreds of feet on the other.
Jon drove well, with us arriving at the first site at half ten. Just half an hour here, we were told.
90 minutes later we made to leave.
Up on the mountain the wind blows all the time, which is why there are five wind turbings. And among the clumps of vegetation, orchids thrive, including the wonderful Orchis provincialis, a creamy white spotted orchid. I snapped that good.
We moved on to the foot of the turbines, but it was pretty much more of the same, and after an hour we paused for lunch, before one last search with revealed yet another new species.
We headed back down the mountain.
Acting on a hunch we stopped at one spot beside another dirt track, where a handful of spikes were seen, we wandered for half an hour before being called back to the vans, and then driving on.
On a more open site, we stopped again.
The main plant we have seen is called the chicken wire plant. It is a hardy bugger, all spines and attitude and it scratched and scrapes your legs as you go past. It grows everywhere.
And finally, I had had enough and went back to the van to wait.

O. cornutula was first described by Paulus from Rhodes in 2001 and its name refers to its diminutive size and this is indeed a very small flower. It's a member of the large O. oestrifera group with a range overlaping with several other of the groups species, particularly within the Aegean basin.
Its tiny stature is the most significant identification feature although this characteristic is shared with the small flowered variety of O. cerastes referred to as O. cerastes v miniscula. This latter taxon is the subject of considerable argument as to its formal varietal status with many authorities regarding it as simply an occasional and naturally occurring miniaturization.
O. cornutula is a relatively spindly, lax-flowered plant but may nonetheless carry an inflorescence of up to 15 flowers and this can be regarded as a further key distinguishing feature. O. cerastes is much fewer flowered and a decidedly more robust looking plant. Sepals are typically triangular and rearward pointing but this is far from being diagnostic. It should always be borne in mind that its widespread distribution brings it within the range, not just of O. cerastes but also O. ceto, O. crassicornis and several other of the Aegean's island specialities, all of which may contribute to intermediate populations.
One of this species more consistent features is the speculum which is complex, gaudy and can often cover a large area of the median lobe.

The ancient Parish Church of St John the Baptist, Little Missenden has touched the lives of generations of families for more than 1000 years. Though founded in the year 975, it actually spans nearly 2000 years of history, bearing in its fabric the marks of Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Norman and Medieval pilgrims. Even today, the Church affords the modern-day pilgrim a warm welcome, a sacred space, a quiet retreat from the busy-ness of everyday life.

Historic Little Missenden church, The Parish Church of St John the Baptist, receives more than £300k in lottery funding for restoration project.
A historic church in Little Missenden, which has appeared on film and television, has been awarded more than £300,000 to “preserve its heritage”.
The Parish Church of St John the Baptist is being supported by the National Lottery grant’s Heritage Lottery Fund for its Christopher Project, which aims to clean, protect and conserve a series of ancient wall paintings, which have been described as an “exceptional ensemble of paintings of different periods and certainly of national importance” by the Courtauld Institute of Art.
The church will receive £305,000 for the project, which will also see the installation of new lighting, plaster repairs, the limewashing of the walls, and improved environmental controls, all designed to “maximise the presentation of the paintings and to ensure their long-term conservation”, plus the creation of an information and education area for visitors.
Earl Howe, minister of state for defence and deputy leader of the House of Lords, who is patron of the church and project, said it would give existing church visitors “opportunities for deeper engagement with the wall paintings and church heritage”.
He added that the project would also attract new audiences, such as schools, families and young people.
He said: “Little Missenden Church is one of the oldest churches in the county, indeed among the oldest in the country.
“The combination of Saxon, Norman, and later medieval architecture, as well as the presence of the 13th century wall paintings, makes this church a nationally important treasure in which we all share a responsibility, nationally and locally, to ensure its conservation and good repair, both now and for future generations.”
The church has been a focal point of the community for more than 1040 years, having been built in the year 975.

The Church of England parish church of St John the Baptist is a flint building with limestone dressings. Its nave is 10th-century Saxon, built about AD 975. Its plain chancel arch is also Saxon and its imposts are re-used Roman bricks. The aisles, with their Norman arcades, were added in the 12th century: the south first, and the north slightly later. The Aylesbury-style font is also 12th century.
The chancel is now Early English, having been rebuilt in the 13th century. The north chapel was added early in the 14th century. The west tower and timber-framed south porch are 15th-century.
The exterior of the south aisle was rebuilt in brick in the 18th century. On the north side of the church is a modern vestry designed in 18th-century style by Quinlan Terry. The church is a Grade I listed building.
Inside the nave are several Mediæval wall paintings. Most are 13th-century, including a large Saint Christopher in the customary position opposite the south door. Also 13th-century are the paintings of the Martyrdom of St Catherine, Passion of Christ, Crucifixion of Christ, and Archangel Gabriel. There are also 14th-century paintings of the Nativity of Christ and Christ in Majesty, and a 15th-century painting of the Seven deadly sins.
The wall paintings were whitewashed in the 16th century in the English Reformation. In 1931 they were rediscovered and Prof. EW Tristram was called in to uncover and restore them. One painting eluded Tristram: A Doom painting in the customary position over the chancel arch at the east end of the nave. In 2017 traces of a 14th-century Doom were finally discovered, over the chancel arch, hidden behind old plaster.
The west tower has a ring of six bells. John Rufford of Toddington, Bedfordshire cast the third bell in about 1380. The successor of John Danyell of London cast the fourth bell in about 1470. Joseph Carter of Reading, Berkshire cast the fifth bell in 1603. Ellis II and Henry III Knight of Reading cast the tenor bell in 1663. John Warner & Sons of Cripplegate, London cast the second bell in 1881. That made a ring of five[3] until 1948, when Mears and Stainbank of the Whitechapel Bell Foundry cast the present treble bell.

A Federal Role in Credit Transfer and Metro Region Policy

The Obama administration has set an aggressive goal for the United States to retake global leadership in postsecondary degree attainment by 2020. The president's goals will require the highly decentralized system of 4,600 colleges and universities to increase productivity dramatically. Productivity, as measured by the number of degrees produced, can be improved by ensuring that students who transfer, an increasingly common phenomenon, retain as much college credit as possible as well as better aligning postsecondary policy with key cross-state metropolitan areas that drive regional and national economic growth.
The concentration of population and economic resources in metropolitan regions makes them engines of America's competitiveness, but many metros cross state boundaries, creating inefficiencies in terms of increased tuition costs, difficulty of transfer and even duplication of fixed costs as states compete for higher education supremacy. Policies that help ease the college-going of metro residents can also help reduce the costs and increase effectiveness of postsecondary education.
