Weather conditions improved in the late afternoon. This is a northwestward view from a hill that used to be the site for Chichijima's weather station.
The island in the left is Nishijima (西島, western island), while those in the right are Hyoutanjima (瓢箪島 gourd island), Anijima (兄島 older brother island), and Hitomarujima (人丸島).
According the climate data provided by Japan Meteorological Agency, average temperature of the coldest month in Chichijima is 18.5 degree Celsius, which means Chichijima has a tropical climate.
Annual precipitation of Chichijima is 1,296 mm, and the precipitation of the driest month is 51.6 mm, which means Chichijima has the tropical monsoon climate (Am) as compared to the humid subtropical climate (Cfa) in the Izu islands and the main island part of Tokyo.
Chichijima's climate is relatively dry judging from the Japanese standard; annual precipitation of downtown Tokyo is 1,530 mm.

Victoria Street in Edinburgh Old Town is one of the most photographed locations in the city. Its gentle curve and colourful shopfronts making it favourite spot for tourist photos, postcards and TV adverts.
Victoria Street was built between 1829-34 as part of a series of improvements to the Old Town, with the aim of improving access around the city. On the north side of the street a terrace was built, with a series of arches underneath which were later filled with shops. Today the street is a charming corner of the Old Town, but recent speculation suggests that a relic of its darker past may still exist. This was the location of Major Weir’s house, a man notorious as ‘the Wizard of the West Bow’, who was executed for witchcraft in 1670. It was thought that his house was completely demolished when Victoria Street was built, but it now seems that some parts may still exist, hidden in the Quaker Meeting House on the upper terrace. An intriguing thought for those visiting to shop, dine or looking for the unexpected.

This 1960 Aston Martin DB4GT, driven by Urs and Arlette Muller, was sporting a set of black wire wheels at the Goodwood Revival instead of its usual Borrani silver set I've seen it with previously, adding a sense of menace to the car that was previously missing. It also looks like the suspension has been worked on as well, with the car sitting slightly lower than normal (although this may be the combination of wheels/offset/angle of shot that give this illusion).
I've struggled to find any information about this DB4GT, so don't know its provenance, although I think its likely to be a continuation/replica given that there were only 75 genuine DB4GT's produced, 6 of which were in the lightweight spec where aluminium was used along with some extensive drilling of solid parts and stripping of luxury items such as the radio, clock, window washer bottle and bumpers.
A number of standard DB4GT's were brought closer to the lightweight spec after they were produced, but its not clear how extensive this was in terms of fitting of aluminium panels or the drilling of the chassis members.
The DB4GT itself is shorter in the wheelbase by 5 inches compared to the regulat DB4, and features closed headlights abd the larger bonnet vent. In keeping with Aston Martins luxury ethos, the DB4GT's were still fitted with leather upholstery and wilton carpets, something I'm sure was soon replaced or removed by owners keen to further improve performance.

After their overnight run from Medley, FL, FEC train 336 switches onto the Cemex City Point lead at CP City Point in Cocoa, FL.
CP City Point was rebuilt from its original configuration a few months prior to this photo. Originally, it was just the single main and the City Point lead with some standard vaders. Now, as you can see, there's a whole new main being built and two tracks that turn west off of the main to head toward Orlando for Brightline.
Perhaps one of Germanys most famous statues stands on guard at the convergence of the mighty Mosel and Rhein rivers the Deutsches Eck (German Corner).
The Statue is a typical Prussian martial style equestrian statue of William I, the first German Emperor it was created in 1897 in gratitude after his death for being the Father of the modern Empire and the unification of Germany.
During WWII it was mistakenly destroyed by artillery when they mistook it for enemy troops and it remained just a plinth until 2 September 1993 when sculptor Raymond Kittl finished producing an improved replica created from bronze plates this time around instead of copper.

It was rain rain rain everywhere in SG today. Was idling at home, a little disturbed and was bascially flickin away the whole morn, and just when the rain stopped ard noon, i quickly grabbed my gear, drove down to the gardens and thought perhaps i could probably have 2 hrs (the least) of macro shooitng, it started raining again!! Have to scurry for cover although my gear was well protected from my Matin Camo rain cover. It was a disappointing macro outing today which lasted only 25 mins!! Managed some decent shots to share with al on a wet wet sundayl! Happy Viewing!!! =(

The shot was taken at Hartlepool while on a week-long Eastern Region Railrover ticket, and features class 37 unit 37160 hauling a rake of COVHOPS, possibly carrying lime destined for the nearby Steetley Works from Thrislington or Coxhoe Quarry.
Above the loco can be seen the floodlights of the Victoria Ground, home of Hartlepool United FC and, to the left of that, is the dog track - now demolished and replaced by a Morrisons food store. The signal box is just visible through the girders of the barn-like structure on the right.
In the brake van the Guard has his coat hung up, and he's no doubt thinking about the imminent arrival and any tasks he needs to perform before signing off.
The station and surroundings were looking pretty uncared for by this time, hardly unusual for the period. Even so, I suspect there would still be a queue to go back and take a few more snaps, should the opportunity ever come up!

The American White Ibis I posted yesterday was the end of my shot series of an Ibis altercation and the start of a series of birds in flight.
This Sandhill Crane shot is one of my first decent birds in flight shots. I've practiced and improved my BIF photography over the years and have a few good ones, some of which I'll post over the next few days.
This crane was photographed at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico.
For improved visibility on level crossings, NS are fitting the class SNG EMUs with a yellow front. For now, the blue and yellow fronts can be seen together - in this case literally, as the leading unit has the blue front (mostly obscured by the overhead line portal and, of course, the other EMU) and the trailing one is yellow. The pair are on their way on a local service from Amsterdam Centraal to Amersfoort Vathorst. Soest, 05-09-2021.

Already tired from our second attempt to find the Spinifex Pigeon, Nita decided she needed a rest and went to sit near the parking area where there are several facilities.
I was somewhat disappointed, but not entirely; after all, the trip had allowed us to find the Pink Cockatoo.
I started wandering alone towards the west of the camping area when I began to notice and photograph some activity, first a Thornbill, then a group of what I initially thought were Variegated Fairywrens, which I had photographed on a previous visit.
Suddenly, I noticed that the males didn’t have the characteristic reddish back. I analyzed the photos more carefully and... a great and magnificent surprise, they were the Splendid Fairywrens!
I began photographing every opportunity they gave me while shouting, “Nita, Nita,” but Nita couldn’t hear me.
Dilemma: should I go call her and risk losing the chance to improve my photos (she will say I made the wrong choice), or should I stay and possibly never see them again?
At first, I chose the first option and, after a few more photos, decided on the second.
When I finally found her and we returned to the spot, as I feared, they were gone, but at least I had some photos.
With Nita feeling quite disappointed but resigned, we were heading back when, near the creek, we noticed some activity. There they were, now just a pair, but that was enough.
We began following them and trying to capture every possible moment, and in one of those moments, I got this shot. Along the way, both Nita and I captured several poses, although they were almost always either a bit distant or surrounded by too much vegetation. Nevertheless, since we had several opportunities, we were very satisfied.
And the best was yet to come.

Continuing this week's 'Spitfire' theme - here is a profile view of a Spitfire Mk 1. A key feature is the barely perceptible, tapering, twist to the wing. The leading edge points upwards by 2 degrees where it joins the body, reducing to half a degree at the tip. This subtle twist greatly improved the handling for pilots, but made the structure far more difficult to manufacture. The wing was the design of Canadian-born aerodynamicist Beverley Shenstone, an unsung hero of the Spitfire story.
This aircraft carries the Eagle Squadron badge. Three RAF squadrons were formed with volunteer airmen from the USA in 1940 before American entry into WW2. About 240 men served, of whom around 100 perished. In Sept 1942, the US airmen transferred to the US 8th Army Air Force. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Squadrons
The grass flow in Klusha Creek looks like it is flowing to the left, but the brown water of the Nordenskiold curves around the bend in the middle from left to right. From here on the water is a little murky.
Braeburn to Carmacks Expedition via Waterways
Section Four: Klusha Creek & Nordenskiold River. Twin Lakes to Flower Mountain Take-out.
I couldn't find any information of previous attempts to paddle this river system and I doubt many have, as the water level is quite low. This means dragging the boat behind for long stretches, climbing over numerous log jams and beaver dams, and diving under overhanging brush and sweepers. There were some really bad obstructions between Twin Lakes and the confluence of Kirkland Creek. The Nordenskiold enters almost unnoticable from the left bringing brown silty water to the clear Klusha. After Kirkland Creek the river [Nordenskiold] turns to a nice woodland river with almost non obstructions and the water quality improves.
After some nights spent to learn and practice new imaging techniques, I propose a version of my first attempt to Andromeda Galaxy, less harsh, more realistic and detailed and (I hope) nicer to see.

I'd appreciate comments about the piece itself, it'll be a great benefit to me to improve my work. thanks alot :)!
With improving finances as a result of the influx of money from the C&O in 1962, the B&O started receiving new GP30's. And they created a new 'Sunburst' logo for the locomotive nose to celebrate. The GP30's were the only power to be delivered new in the scheme but it was applied to some other units for a short time. The GP35's that came later in 1963 were in a simplified blue Capitol Dome scheme.
I can remember being an even younger railfan than when I took this in April 1965 on one of my first trips to the B&O being very disappointed when one of the old cab units showed up on a train instead of one of the shiny new GP30's that we were hoping to see. Fortunately I didn't let that disappointment stop me from shooting this westbound crossing the EL at JO Tower in Akron in April 1965. I suspect most of us went through learning to focus on the older stuff and less on the new shiny things. The tower was back by the signal bridge barely visible in this shot.
Hopefully Flickr gets this one posted correctly. My last posting didn't seem to go through to everyone quite right.
One of my favorite film shots I took on my short trip lately.
This shot was taken with a Canon F-1 with a FD 50mm 1:1.4 (chrome nose) on a FUJI Fujicolor 200 135/36 film.
I'm very impressed how those pictures came out. Unfortunately only those I didn't use the waist level view finder of this camera. There I still have to improve my skills haha
