During the last week or so I have honestly tried to convey the meerest notion of what I have seen and learned. I have loads of pictures to sift through, share and resift as my impressions mature and time and distance play their little games with my memory.
I am heading home tomorrow and I wanted to leave off for now with one picture that tells you someting, that sums up all the impressons in a way. Now that was raising the bar a tad to put it mildly. How the heck should I be able so sum up after so short a time, so little distance travelled and no time for maturing my thoughts.
Still, there are experiences made, things seen, impressions and reflextions that buzz and hum. One of the first things I registrated was the immensity of this bustling town. Next the energy and then the feel of modern thinking and sheer power of enterprise. Those things add up to so much more than the sum of the sheer humanity with in the middle kingdom.
My last picture to you, whilst in the middle of it all will be this one, shot in "The Village", in Sanlitun, down by third ringroad. This picture is ment to speak about the possibilities and power and modern outlook that I read into my experiences of this place. The sun is bright in the present time and it reflects of the multitude of facettes that make out this country. The course is doubtless forward and rising. And in the center of it all, the people that build this all. Am I a confirmed sinophil, possibly. But I know this, I drank of the brew and I made my head buzz, swim and still gain a new level of inspiration. Now that is something for a traveller to ponder upon.
