Interesting molt neck pattern that appeared gray, but not the Pacific Loon that was seen earlier in the day.

Here's a link to the Pacific Loon that appeared at Caesar Creek State Park in November 2010, comparing it to a nearby Common Loon.

Gaviidae: Gavia immer: Great Northern Diver

The largest of the UK's divers, it has a bigger, heavier head and bill than its commoner relatives. It is largely a winter visitor to our shores although some non-breeding birds stay off northern coasts in the summer.
