For my Image Manipulation Midterm, I had to make a series of 5 postcards. The washed out ones are the final comp to be turned in. The theme is the juxtaposition of danger via 8bit characters to Los Angeles landmarks. The FP is the logo I made for my first project.

Just a relatively quick occlusional shading tester (no backgroud stuff, no details, feathers etc) with a couple of colours. I'm unused to using gradients, so I thought I'd try them so I can screen and multiply later layers. Playing about really. It's Photoshop CS4, and my new Intuos4 :D

When it comes to image manipulation Picnik does a great job...

 

Here I've used 'boost' and then brushed the figure back to 'original'. Then I 'vignetted' on 90% size with a milk chocolate brown choice of colour. The whole (rushed) process took under five minutes and makes for a much more interesting image.
