hi everyone! something to share. I’m celebrating a milestone, so to speak.
this is my 500th post on flickr. can’t believe it, never thought I would reach this number. I want to thank you for your visits, comments and ongoing support. very encouraging. always appreciated.
I could not have done it without you.
This is a manipulated version of a shot that was taken minutes after this shot was taken. I was rushing to catch the sunrise, but could not resist taking a shot of these silhouetted cows (which couldnt be discerned later on on my monitor) near the tree. Looked great with the predawn blue. As karma would have it, it was cold, I was in a hurry and it was handheld resulting in a blurry picture. This is an attempt to "restore" the picture, and in the process learn some image manipulation :)

This is a photo/image manipulation using Photoshop elements/CS3, Corel paint shop pro X2 and Photofiltre.
I used a lot of stockimages and brushes to create this.
Credits go to the photographers/artists who made the pictures/brushes i used.

Swansea Marina this morning. On seeing this beautiful sunrise, it was an easy decision to be slightly late for work so I could photograph it.
To spoil the romance of this shot just a bit: the orange sky was caused by the sunlight catching emissions from the chemical plants in Port Talbot, just across the bay!
I could not resist one more OOB. I am getting the hang of it. This is more work than selective coloring, but as much fun. This one contains two OOB's.
Photograph "painted over" in Corel Painter IX.5
Going through a steep learning curve here, folks. Bear with me.
From a scanned photo taken in 1987.
While it was a beautiful scene, the photo was not of the quality I like to post on Flickr.
Finishing touches done in Paint Shop Pro X.
See it LARGE.
Still young... still with dreams.
Still hoping and dreaming about another world, a world full of magic.
Can I ever enter this fantasyworld...
Who knows.

The idea for this manipulation came to life with photographer Adam Shane. We wanted to put a girl in a scenery who's dreaming about a fantasyworld out of her reach. The dream is so vivid, that she could almost enter the magical place.
Amost... because she is dreaming, daydreaming...
With a bunch of beautiful photo's from Adam and the idea in my head I started working on this. Nothing you see is original anymore. I used more than 8 photo's, two of them more than once.
A part of the bridge is painted, even so a part of the wall and plants.
Did a lot of retouching (girl) and I'd like to mention that there were no brushes or textures involved.
This probably doesn't look really complicated, but it actually was kinda difficult to make. ;-) Anyways... I hope you find it original and beautiful. :)
Oh, and please visit Adam Shane's Website and Flickr.com profile:

Thanks Adam, it's a pleasure working with you! ;-)

154/365. I suffered a particularly bad dose of creative block today. So bad in fact that my head literally exploded.

As you look through the wavy glass of the 108 year old kitchen window, you see a forsythia plant outside and also the exterior of the home. That exterior wall comes in at an *L* shape to the kitchen. The window in that wall was my bedroom window. So you are looking from inside, past the kitchen sink and window sill to the yard. You are also looking from inside the house to the outside wall and window of the bedroom.
When I took the picture in about 1992 and was trying to learn how to do Polaroid Manipulations, the house was roughly 82 years old.
This house is now 108 years old as of April 2018. Many of the windows still have the wavy glass from long ago. The home was eligible (still is) to be on the National Historic Register. I was the only one who felt that was a honor and that we should embrace that. I was outvoted. I hope the new owners will consider it. Each year, more and more of the old homes in Linn County (other places too, but that was where my home was) are deteriorating much faster than that one was. It was be a great representative of an early Linn County farm house. Oregon had only been a state for about 50 years and the American Civil War had only been over about 45 years when the house was built.
"W" is for Window as in Kitchen Window

Image was shot with a vintage Polaroid SX-70 camera using Impossible Project PX70 V4B Test film. Waited about 4 hours and then did an emulsion lift onto watercolor paper
Nearly the only thing still green in the garden, this clover still had morning dew on it, even after some very light snow flurries.. all the beads clustered on the leeward side, and reflecting winter skies. I converted the file in Photoshop from RGB color to LAB color, and used a curves layer to force the greens and blues further apart and intensify them, for this effect. (Image>Mode>Lab Color)

One from a series of grabshots taken of Fall'n leaves on the reflective teal finish of my Nissan. There is some editing of the images first in Adobe Lightroom, then in Adobe Photoshop CS3.
The light was playing up that day and so did the New Holland Honeyeaters in Cranbourne Botanical Gardens. This one has just flown down from a Grevillea bush and watched its companion when I had this idea of a high-key picture inspired by the white pathway in the background. There isn't much of image manipulation in this picture - just slightly increased brightness.
Are you an aspiring photographer? Do you like to photograph life around you? If the answer is yes, documentary photography might be of interest to you.
In a world where image manipulation and fake news are on a rise, documentary photography holds strong as one of the few genres of photography that record reality. In the early days, documentary photography was used for long term reportage of significant happenings around the world. Such as conflicts, historic events, and also as a tool for social change. Over time, the genre has grown to encompass a large variety of stories, both journalistic and personal in nature. A documentary project can be about a place, a person, a social issue, or any kind of story that a photographer feels is important to tell. Winter, cold, snow outside my window, some things to silhouette against the snow! : ) Still exploring feeling negative, but think pretty sure that's gonna change shortly! : )
