South Beach socialites all head to Glass at the Forge when the evening agenda calls for a night of upscale lounging. Glass is steeped in Hollywood history, starting off previously as a cigar lounge with private humidors for the likes of Oliver Stone and Bono. The venue was transformed when owner Shareef Malnik teamed up with Miami designer Allison Spear to create an upscale lounge space that packs in a star-studded crowd.

Winter Lights Festival in Seneca State Park.

From Wikipedia:

"Seneca Creek State Park encompasses approximately 6,300 acres (25 km²) in Montgomery County, Maryland, USA.

The developed portion of the park centers on 90-acre Clopper Lake. This is the Clopper Lake Day Use Area (CLDUA); it is the most well known portion of the park. Located in Gaithersburg, MD, The lake was created by a dam built in 1975 on Long Draught Creek, a tributary of Seneca Creek. The lake was created for recreational use and for flood control. The lake averages a depth of 18 feet, but also has shallow enclaves. Stocked with largemouth bass, tiger muskie, channel catfish, sunfish, bluegill and pumpkinseed sunfish, Clopper Lake is a popular Gaithersburg fishing area. Boating is also available on the lake. As a part of the park, the lake can be accessed by a series of trails, including the Lake Shore Trail which loops around the entire lake. The trails are used for hiking and mountain biking."

On September 8, 1797, the fourth mission founded by Father Lasuén in a period of four months was named San Fernando Rey de España. Although the mission was supposed to relieve the long march between San Gabriel and San Buenaventura, the aged padre set it somewhat to the south because of the barren terrain and poor drainage of the middle area.

Even the location at San Fernando presented problems. The land best suited for the mission was already occupied by a Spanish settler, Francisco Reyes, mayor of the pueblo of Los Angeles. Authorities differ regarding Reyes' willingness to give up the territory, some maintaining that he had received the grant from the King and was forcibly evicted from the rancho, while others claim that Reyes had simply "squatted" on the land and that his retirement was a graceful and obliging one. The records do show, however, that Reyes remained long enough to perform the duties of a patron at the dedication services, and that he was the godfather of the first child to be baptized at the mission.

Two months after the dedication, the church was completed and had a neophyte congregation of more than 40. The padres and their Indian converts continued to prosper and by 1806, San Fernando was producing hides, tallow, soap, cloth and other mission products in considerable quantities. As they were relatively near the pueblo of Los Angeles, they had a ready market. At the height of its prosperity, San Fernando owned 13,000 cattle, 8,000 sheep and its 2,300 horses was the third largest herd in the possession of the missions. These material achievements were not exceptional, however, among the California missions.

It was the accident of location that eventually brought the settlement a unique distinction. THIS IS ZAMBIA by PilAto

Nov 7, 2019 6:00–6:15PM

Theresa Lang Community and Student Center - Room I202, 2nd Floor

Arnhold Hall

55 West 13th Street, NYC

Coming to us from Zambia, the Hip Hop recording artist PilAto has been called Zambia’s Voice of Inequality. His contribution to WHO OWNS THE WORLD? is a remake of Childish Gambino’s THIS IS AMERICA. PilAto’s provocative piece, THIS IS ZAMBIA, is his take on the power captured by multinational corporations and the painful apathy of politicians who fail to build a better tomorrow with all of us, be that in Zambia or the United States. PilAto whispers and roars: Is this Zambia?

KURUKSHETRA PHOTO MADE BY KAILASH MANSAROVAR FOUNDATION, SWAMI BIKASH GIRI , www.sumeruparvat.com , www.naturalitem.com

Kurukshetra Hindi: कुरुक्षेत्र; Punjabi: ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤਰ) is a land of historical and religious importance. Kurukshetra is located inHaryana state of India. It is also known as Dharmakshetra ("Holy Place"). According to the Puranas, Kurukshetra is a region named after King Kuru, the ancestor of Kauravas and Pandavas, as depicted in epic Mahabharata. The importance of the place is attributed to the fact that the Kurukshetra War of the Mahabharata was fought on this land and the Bhagavad Gita was preached on this land during the war when Lord Krishna found Arjuna in a terrible dilemma.[1]

Prior to the establishment of a refugee camp named Kurukshetra in 1947, Thanesar was the name of the tehsil headquarters and the town. Thanesaror Sthaneswar is a historical town located adjacent to what is now the newly created Kurukshetra city. Thanesar derives its name from the word "Sthaneshwar", which means "Place of God". The Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple, whose presiding deity is Lord Shiva, is believed to be the oldest temple in the vicinity. Local hearsay identifies the legendary "Kurukshetra" with a place near Thanesar. A few kilometers from Kurukshetra is the village known as Amin, where there are remnants of a fort which is believed to beAbhimanyu's fort.

In most ancient Hindu texts, Kurukshetra is not a city but a region "kshetra" meaning "region" in Sanskrit and the boundaries of Kurukshetra correspond roughly to the central and western parts of state of Haryana and southern Punjab. Thus according to the Taittiriya Aranyaka 5.1.1., the Kurukshetra region is south of Turghna (Srughna/Sugh in Sirhind, Punjab), north ofKhandava (Delhi and Mewat region), east of Maru (desert) and west of Parin.[2]

Early July 2013 the Haryana Department of Archaeology and Museums announced that the earlier excavated remains of a Buddhist Stupa in Kurukshetra were ready to be displayed for the public.

It is written in Puranas that Kurukshetra is named after King Kuru of the BharataDynasty, ancestor of Pandavas and Kauravas.

The Vamana Purana tells how King Kuru came to settle on this land. He chose this land at the banks of Sarasvati River(since dried up before 1900BCE[3]) for embedding spirituality with 8 virtues: austerity (tapas), truth (satya), forgiveness (kshama), kindness (daya), purity (suchee[disambiguation needed]), charity (daan),yagya and brahmacharya. Lord Vishnu was impressed with the act of King Kuru and blessed him. God gave him two boons, one that this land forever will be known as a Holy Land after his name as Kurukshetra (the land of Kuru) and the other that anyone dying on this land will be going to heaven. The land of Kurukshetra was situated between two rivers – the Sarasvati and the Drishadvati.

This land has been known as Uttravedi, Brahmavedi, Dharamkshetra and Kurukshetra at different periods. When King Kuru came on this land it was called Uttarvedi. Over the period this land has been ruled by many empires. The Bharata Dynasty came and settled on this land.

Later the Battle of Mahabharata(3102 BCE) was fought on this land, during which LordKrishna preached Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna.

It reached the zenith of its progress during the reign of King Harsha, during which Chinese scholar Hieun Tsang visited this land at Thanesar. By the archaeological grounds it has been proved that Ashoka the Great made Kurukshetra a centre of learning for people from all over the world.

Los Escobazos de Jarandilla de la Vera

VÍDEO youtu.be/iDPEhQ-pEvg
