We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

The Golden Ratio informs a lot of my art and photographic composition. The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo! Not so long ago, I came up with the Golden Ratio Principle which describes why The Golden Ratio is so beautiful.
The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.

Per la prima volta in Italia con la sua band, eseguirà live durante la Finale il singolo Dangerous, il brano certificato platino e contenuto in Listen, il suo primo album di canzoni che vede la partecipazione di artisti del calibro di Emili Sande a John Legend, SIA, Nicki Minaj, The Script, Magic!, Ryan Tedder di One Republic.
I secondi ospiti internazionali sono la “New band of the day” come li definisce il Guardian: "Ogni loro canzone si annuncia con un fiorire e molto slancio, e c'è una leggera spolverata di ritmi caraibici, sapori tropicali e salotto-jazz." Loro sono i Saint Motel, che dal 2009 a oggi sono riusciti a suonare in tutti gli Stati Uniti aprendo i concerti degli Arctic Monkeys e degli Imagine Dragons. The 1944 FM-2, officially called the ‘Wildcat’, was named the “Best Fighter Below 10,000 Feet” compared to the F6F, F4U, P-47, and P-51. The FM-2 was the most built and most powerful version of the Wildcats, often referred to as the “Wilder” Wildcat. Wildcats were the main Navy and Marine Corps fighter at the start of World War II and fought in all the major battles, including Wake Island, Guadalcanal, and Midway, until the Hellcat came along in 1943. The Wildcat is best known for its contribution to the Battle of Midway during World War II. Butch O’Hare shot down five Japanese Bombers that were attacking the USS Lexington, becoming the first US Navy Ace of WWII. A Wildcat is on display in the Chicago O’Hare airport that was named after him. Eight Medal of Honor recipients were Wildcat pilots, which is more than any other fighter aircraft of WWII. After the introduction of the Hellcat, Wildcats continued to serve as a front line fighter throughout the War. Greg’s Wildcat flew at NAS Alameda and San Diego in VJ9 and VJ12 utility squadron’s most likely towing targets. It was given to a high school in Livingston, Montana in February 1946. In 1956 it was sold and used for aerial photography use. After that, it was passed around from owner to owner and was on display in the Lone Star Flight Museum for 15 years until coming home to Greg’s hangar.

This is one of my favorite scarves. It is beautiful and comfortable.
This scarf was made with two strands of soft yarn held together while stitching, which makes the scarf thick without any stiffness.
This color and style is unisex. The classic crochet stitch gives this scarf a beautiful style for men or women. It looked great on my husband who graciously gives me feedback on wearability, style and comfort of my scarves.
This is a lovely color for Autumn and Winter: A warm brick red with a reddish brown/rust hue.

Two Museums in Venice - Gallerie dell'Accademia & Collezione Peggy Guggenheim
In 2000, when I visited Rome and Florence, I made a seemingly silly day trip from Florence to Venice, specifically to visit Gallerie dell'Accademia in order to see two of my favorite paintings there - the intimate and enigmatic Tempest by Giorgione and Paolo Veronese's immense and celebratory The Feast in the House of Levi, along with others. The trip to Venice was quite rushed but the visit to the museum and admiring those paintings below were truly gratifying.
In October 2012, Venice was one of my major stop of my Austrian and Italian trip, thus afforded me more time to visit Gallerie dell'Accademia and I was looking forward to re-exam those two favorites. However, it didn't happen as planned -- a huge scaffolding largely blocked out The Feast in the House of Levi! My consolation was that I did see it twelve years before and that proved the motto of "Seize the day".
I was able to see Giorgione's Tempest, along with his La Vecchia (below), a portrait of startlingly modern sensitivity.

Notre-Dame-de-Clignancourt est une église catholique parisienne située face à la mairie du XVIIIe arrondissement. Son nom vient de Clignancourt, un village absorbé par la ville de Paris.
Les habitants du quartier de Clignancourt, devenus, au milieu du XIXe siècle de plus en plus nombreux, étaient titulaires de Saint-Pierre de Montmartre, leur église paroissiale, dont l'accès était assez pénible puisque situé au sommet de la butte Montmartre.
Aussi leur construisit-on sur la place Sainte Euphrasie (aujourd'hui place Jules Joffrin), l'église Notre-Dame-de-Clignancourt dont la première pierre bénie par le cardinal Morlot, archevêque de Paris, fut posée par le baron Haussmann le 2 mai 1859. Le maire de Montmartre était alors le baron Michel de Trétaigne (qui légua son nom à la rue de Trétaigne, non loin de la mairie) et ses adjoints, Achille Labat et Lecuyer. Cette église, construite par Lequeux, fut inaugurée le 29 octobre 1863. Sa longueur est de 99 mètres et sa largeur de 20 mètres dans la nef et 33 au transept. Sa hauteur sous clef est de 14,80 mètres. La chapelle de la Vierge forme comme un édifice à part auquel, étant donné la pente, on monte par des escaliers situés sur les côtés du chevet. Les peintures sont de Romain Cazes et les fresques d'Émile Laffon.
Dotée par l'impératrice Eugénie, épouse de Napoléon III, en mobilier et objets de culte, l'église fut pillée pendant la Commune en 1870.
En face, sur la place Jules Joffrin, la mairie du XVIII° arrondissement remplace celle qui était antérieurement située place des Abbesses. Œuvre de Varoclier, de style Renaissance, sa première pierre a été posée le même jour que celle du pont Caulaincourt, le 16 décembre 1888 ; elle a été inaugurée le 17 juillet 1892.

I utilized a 6 F-STOP ND filter on the 85mm f/1.2 L II lens at f/1.2 to allow that wide aperture and still keep the shutter speed below the sync speed of 1/200s with my speedlights.

This set of photos covers the trail between Winchester Ave and Rhawn St.
Pennypack Park was established in 1905 by ordinance of the City of Philadelphia to insure the protection of Pennypack Creek and the preservation of the surrounding land. The park consists of 1,600 acres of woodlands, meadows, wetlands and fields.
Pennypack Park is the green heart of Northeast Philadelphia; a natural world in the midst of urban development. Throughout the park's woodlands, meadows, wetlands and fields you will see many species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians which have been native to this area for thousands of years.

Wow, the post processing on this shot nearly killed me. I just couldn't get it to look the way I wanted. I'm still not happy with the way it looks even after shooting it again and processing it a couple of times but it will have to do. My brother Keith got me the retro mouse shown in the photo for a Christmas present. Thanks Keith!

1ère édition de la Rocamburlesque Cup !!!
Le dimanche 4 juin, à partir de 11h aura lieu au stade Duguay Trouin un tournoi de football pas comme les autres !!
En effet seul le beau jeu et le plaisir est à l'honneur en cette journée ! Le jeu ira bien au delà de l'enjeu pour ce tournoi.
Réservé aux amoureux du ballon rond, aux footeux (et fans de Foot) qui ont vibré devant les fantasques Ronaldinho, Zizou, Raul et consorts, pour les personnes qui ne connaissent qu'un seul Ronaldo, le véritable, pour les joueurs qui auraient souhaité avoir une carrière précise, celle de Georges Best...
Ce tournoi est finalement réservé aux amoureux du ballon et toute les choses POSITIVES qui gravites autour !!
Ce tournoi est bien sûr ouvert à tous le monde, les rugbymans, handballeurs, et autres sportifs sont la bienvenue !!
Le tournoi débutera à 11h30 sous une formule championnat permettant de jouer un maximum de matchs, la finale se jouera aux alentours de 19h30.
Suite à ce tournoi, profitant du fait que le lendemain soit férié, une soirée Burger sous une grande tonnelle avec musique clôturera cette belle journée.
Les personnes ne participantes pas aux tournois sont elles aussi conviées à cette soirée, il vous suffira de réserver vos places (10€ par personne) pour profiter de l'événement.
*Pour faciliter l'organisation, merci de réserver vos places en avance, lors de l'inscription au tournoi par exemple*
De nombreuses animations accompagneront la journée et la soirée (nous avons pensé aux personnes qui ne souhaitent pas participer au tournoi pour diverse raison #PiedsCarrés mais qui souhaiteraient tout de même se joindre à l'événement pour le plaisir des yeux...) avec des animations ventriglisse par l'association "Slip'n Slide 51", des animations palets par l'association affiliée à la FFPPB (Fédération Française de Palais sur Planche en Bois) qui nous fait l'honneur de se déplacer de Paris avec son Président, son secrétaire et sa Présidente d'honneur, afin de nous faire une petite démonstration, mais aussi en fin de journée un tournoi de Beer Pong, etc...
Est compris dans l'inscription du tournoi, le repas du midi (galette saucisse frite) par joueur.
Le tournoi aura lieu sur le terrain d'honneur (en herbe) de Duguay Trouin, nous jouerons sur demi terrain, le nombre de joueurs est de 6 + un gardien + 2 remplaçants.
Concernant les lots, notre partenaire "Le Comptoir" fournira la totalité de nos récompense.
Seront récompensé :
L'équipe remportant la ROCAMBURLESQUE CUP
L'équipe la plus Rocamburleque (Fair Play, déguisements, humour,...etc)

Le iniziative di “Amando Cattolica” sono state definite realizzazioni con finalità prettamente divulgativa a carattere culturale e di promozione turistica con il linguaggio universale delle immagini percorre un viaggio ideale rappresentando luoghi, persone, paesaggi, emozioni; che con il cuore racconta la nostra identità più profonda. Tra la moltitudine di città interessate da questo nuovo percorso fotografico,emerge un prezioso itinerario che collega le diverse città in cui Guglielmo Marconi ha vissuto la sua vita.
Un nuovo viaggio fotografico, tra cui immagini che rendono omaggio al grande inventore italiano Guglielmo Marconi, padre della radio e Premio Nobel per la fisica nel 1909. Bolognese di nascita, Marconi passò molto del suo tempo nella sua casa di Cattolica. Chissà cosa penserebbe oggi, affacciato alla finestra di Villa Marconi, delle persone in spiaggia collegate a internet con computer e cellulari wireless, persone in contatto con il mondo ventiquattro ore al giorno. Su quella stessa spiaggia dove lui ha passeggiato e guardato il mare immerso nei suoi pensieri e nei suoi esperimenti. Forse tutta questa comunicazione l’avrebbe fatto sorridere, lui che fu il padre della comunicazione con telegrafia senza fili. Di una cosa però siamo sicuri, sicuramente affacciato alla finestra della sua camera, avrebbe rivolto lo sguardo all’Adriatico e avrebbe atteso uno di quei meravigliosi tramonti di Cattolica, in cui il sole diventa una palla di fuoco che scompare lentamente all’orizzonte. Uno spettacolo di colori che soltanto Lei può regalare. Con questo nuovo libro fotografico prosegue il progetto “Amando Cattolica” e con la VI Edizione, dal titolo “Attimi, EMOZIONI NEL TEMPO INFINITO…sulle tracce di Guglielmo Marconi”, Antonio Barbieri è , ancora una volta, riuscito a catturare, nelle sue fotografie, l’anima più intima di Cattolica e dei paesaggi vicini.
L’attaccamento alla propria terra, la passione e la sensibilità artistica sono evidenziate in queste immagini che mostrano con chiarezza la trasformazione nel tempo di questo territorio, facendone riaffiorare con emozioni intese l’essenza più vera.
L’obiettivo dell’artista si allarga su scorci suggestivi di altre città italiane, cogliendone particolari che ben delineano la ricchezza artistica, culturale architettonica della nostra Italia.
Il mio particolare apprezzamento va ancora una volta rivolto a questo lavoro, alla dedizione particolare e scrupolosa con cui Antonio Barbieri ha saputo mostrate la genuinità e la semplicità di un territorio in continua evoluzione ma sempre attento a rinnovare la propria cultura dell’accoglienza.

A visit to the Charles Dickens Museum at 48-49 Doughty Street in Bloomsbury, London.
Dickens lived here with his wife Catherine and family from 1837, for three years. By 1839 he had become a superstar having written The Pickwick Papers, Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby.
The house at 48 Doughty Street was a first class family mansion, with a basement, a ground, first, second and third floor.
The Charles Dickens Museum is an author's house museum at 48 Doughty Street in King's Cross, in the London Borough of Camden. It occupies a typical Georgian terraced house which was Charles Dickens's home from 25 March 1837 (a year after his marriage) to December 1839.
In the nineteenth century, it was an exclusive residential street and had gates at either end to restrict entry and these were manned by porters. Charles Dickens and his wife Catherine Dickens (née Hogarth) lived here with the eldest three of their ten children, with the older two of Dickens's daughters, Mary Dickens and Kate Macready Dickens being born in the house.
A new addition to the household was Dickens's younger brother Frederick. Also, Catherine's 17-year-old sister Mary moved with them from Furnival's Inn to offer support to her married sister and brother. It was not unusual for a woman's unwed sister to live with and help a newly married couple. Dickens became very attached to Mary, and she died in his arms after a brief illness in 1837. She inspired characters in many of his books, and her death is fictionalized as the death of Little Nell. Dickens had a three-year lease (at £80 a year) on the property. He would remain here until 1839 when he moved to Devonshire Terrace. He upscaled to grander homes as his wealth increased and his family grew. However, Doughty Street is his only surviving London house.
The two years that Dickens lived in the house were extremely productive, for here he completed The Pickwick Papers (1836), wrote the whole of Oliver Twist (1838) and Nicholas Nickleby (1838–39) and worked on Barnaby Rudge (1840–41).
The building at 48 Doughty Street was threatened with demolition in 1923, but was saved by the Dickens Fellowship, founded in 1902, who raised the mortgage and bought the property's freehold. The house was renovated and the Dickens House Museum was opened in 1925, under the direction of an independent trust, now a registered charity. The house was listed in 1954.
Perhaps the best-known exhibit is the portrait of Dickens known as Dickens's Dream by R. W. Buss, an original illustrator of The Pickwick Papers. This unfinished portrait shows Dickens in his study at Gads Hill Place surrounded by many of the characters he had created. The painting was begun in 1870 after Dickens's death. Other notable artefacts in the museum include numerous first editions, original manuscripts, original letters by Dickens, and many personal items owned by Dickens and his family. The only known item of clothing worn by Dickens still in existence is also displayed at the museum. This is his Court Suit and sword, worn when Dickens was presented to the Prince of Wales in 1870.

Shot earlier this evening, wave after wave of whispy cloud was passing in front of the moon, so I was unable to get a clear moon shot, but the color of the sky and the cloud was beautiful anyway.... So here is today's new moon at 58% of full.
