Al nor-poniente del Estado de Tlaxcala se encuentra la comunidad de San Andrés Buenavista, perteneciente al municipio de Tlaxco.
Hace cientos de años era un asentamiento otomí anexado al imperio Tlaxcalteca; después de la lucha de independencia se construye la hacienda que lleva el mismo nombre y en 1938 se da el hecho del reparto agrario ejidal a los trabajadores de la hacienda para fundar la comunidad de José María Morelos Buenavista, conservando la dependencia cultural religiosa en la capilla de la hacienda. En el año de 1974 se toma la iniciativa de construir un templo de y para la comunidad con un proyecto moderno y rectangular. En 1984 después de algunos fenómenos sociales internos en la comunidad se inicia el proyecto de construir nuevamente el templo, con nueva forma aprovechando los cimientos del trabajo anterior: “Construir la barca de San Andrés”, apóstol de Jesús, galileo, pescador, hermano de Simón Pedro, compañeros de Santiago y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que también eran pescadores. Otros motivos de justificación del proyecto en forma de barco son:
Jesús predicó desde las barcas
La barca es símbolo de la iglesia, instrumento de salvación
La barca es símbolo de ecumenismo
La barca, como forma de templo, era significativa para la sociedad
El sincretismo (sistema filosófico que trata de conciliar doctrinas diferentes) religioso, es la tesis principal de la arquitectura y decoración del templo:
Hablar con colores y forma
Usar signos y símbolos para la catequesis como en el Siglo XVI
Retomar los glifos prehispánicos
Recargar de adorno lleno de conceptos y mensajes como en las culturas prehispánicas, que las paredes y columnas hablen a tiempo y destiempo, como dijera San Pablo
Escribir los mismos conceptos religiosos en dos lenguas y culturas que coinciden sustancialmente en los mismos valores religiosos: La cultura occidental y la Mexica-Nahua
Re-tomar lo nuestro; nuestro arte, valores, cultura llena de belleza y colorido tanto tiempo combatida, ignorada, minimizada por nuestros mismos pueblos y sin embargo conocida y valorada por pueblos ajenos
El adorno del templo y los anexos llevan a buscar las convergencias en medio de las grandes diversidades que en tiempos y formas, circunstancias y lugares se han dado en la búsqueda de Dios, como el Ser Supremo. Llamado Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo en la Trinidad que en mucho coincide como lo había descubierto después de una seria reflexión teológica nuestros antepasados al llamarlo OME TEOLTL IN TLOQUE IN AHUAQUE = Dios dual, del cerca y del junto, por el que se Es y por el que se vive, papá y mamá. Cuando nosotros lo llamamos Padre en rostro y corazón materno.
Es de aclarar que la obra no se encuentra terminada, es “Iglesia en marcha” que trabaja día a día “viento en popa”, remando desde la salida del sol hasta el ocaso; con la firme esperanza de llegar un día a feliz puerto, meta de ser terminada con la colaboración de todos. Pues “La fe florece, cuando se convierte en obras”.

I think this is pink daisy. The fly on the this flower attracted me to shoot it. Even though I went fairly close (to the extent supported by my kitlens) the fly looked like noway bothered about my presence which was quite surprising :)

Fue fundado en el siglo XVII; el claustro tiene características con tendencias góticas.
Templo y Ex-Convento de Santo Domingo, se le conoce así, porque el Convento fue habitado por la orden de Dominicos.
Se inició su construcción en 1612 desconociéndose cuando se terminó: con estilo neoclásico.
Su construcción fue dirigida por los frailes dominicos.
Ubicación: Calle Independencia y Benito Juárez.
Ferias: Festividades y eventos; Religiosas el 8 de Agosto.
ubicado en el Barrio del Perro, es uno de los templos de la ciudad que tienes que visitar.
"lztocan", como antiguamente se llamaba esta población, era otro importante señorío que Hernán Cortés tomó con sus ejércitos. Uno de los cinco monasterios dominicos habidos en tierras poblanas es el de lzúcar de Matamoros, dedicado a Santo Domingo. Su portada de estilo neoclásico está fechada en 1512, pero la torre es, evidentemente, de una fecha posterior. Adentro destaca la capilla de la Virgen de los Dolores y una pila bautismal que, según se dice, es la más grande de la República.
Es también un reconocido centro gastronómico y en el mercado hay varias fondas donde se elaboran los guisos típicos de la región, como el mole de olla, la barbacoa de cerdo y el guaxmole. lzúcar es famoso por sus artesanías, particularmente por los imaginativos "árboles de la vida".

odin has been enjoying his new easel ( ikea strikes again! at $29.99 the MÅLA is much more affordable than anything else we could find and includes a whiteboard and chalkboard. ) and if you drop by for a visit he might excitedly ask you to watch him as he works his artistic magic ( at this moment, he's rendering an abstract impression of the silver pots sitting in the paint/marker/chalk holder ).
and yes, his most favoritest hat ever - handcrafted by his mamma - is back on his head. i'll be suprised if we get him to take it off before spring.
Big congratulations to Brooke for finishing her 365 today! I feel like so many people have finished in the last couple of weeks. What happened last August that got so many people to start?!
Anyway. I've been kind of a lame contact lately and haven't really been paying Brooke the attention she deserves, so I thought I'd make it up to her with this tribute. I went through her stream and found an old favorite and some new ones (here and here). The lighting and processing on these more intimate photos really stuck out to me, so I thought I'd try to re-create that. Plus, a tribute to Brooke wouldn't be complete without some boobie love, so I made sure to have some clevage in there too. ;)

I was really hoping to break 3:30, but came up 2 minutes short. Blame it on the lack of folks to draft off, or to pull for.. though a friendly rider from Saratoga did draft off me for a few on Foothill, helping ease the monotony.
Part of me wants to start training, so I can get faster, but I wonder if I'd still enjoy riding as much. The real fun is in these weekend rides.

Hanno provato quasi per scherzo, ma poi la prima canzone scritta, cantata e suonata a sei mani li ha entusiasmati a tal punto che si sono messi a fare sul serio. Comincia così la storia di un progetto musicale che, per la prima volta, vede insieme Niccolò Fabi, Daniele Silvestri e Max Gazzè in un percorso ampio e articolato che li coinvolgerà nel corso di tutto il 2014. Un primo assaggio di questa nuova avventura musicale arriva il 25 aprile con l’uscita del singolo Life Is Sweet, che farà parte di un album di inediti la cui pubblicazione è prevista a settembre.
Per i tre artisti, quello di lavorare insieme è stato un desiderio rimasto a lungo in sospeso, ma coltivato sin dagli anni ’90, quando ciascuno era impegnato a muovere i primi passi nella musica. In più occasioni, però, le loro strade si sono già incrociate, nei rispettivi album e sui palchi dei loro concerti: è il 1996, quando Silvestri sceglie Gazzè come bassista per il suo tour, mentre nel 1998 la hit “Vento d’estate” cantata in duetto da Fabi e Gazzè domina le classifiche. Seguono anni di soddisfazioni personali e parallele e, nel 2007, Gazzè e Silvestri tornano a collaborare in alcuni brani dell’album di quest’ultimo “Il Latitante”. Il 30 agosto 2010 a Casale sul Treja, vicino Roma, Silvestri e Gazzè raggiungono Fabi insieme ad oltre 50 colleghi musicisti, per condividere un’intensa e speciale giornata di musica sul palco di Parole di Lulù. Nel 2011, poi, prende forma la prima collaborazione discografica tra Fabi e Silvestri che inserisce nel suo album “S.C.O.T.C.H.” il brano “Sornione”, scritto e interpretato da entrambi. L’ultima esperienza insieme risale all’ottobre dello scorso anno, quando Fabi, attivista e testimone del lavoro dell’organizzazione non governativa Medici con l’Africa CUAMM, coinvolge Gazzè e Silvestri in un viaggio in Sud Sudan.
Per il pubblico inizia ufficialmente con il concerto del 14 novembre al 105 Stadium di Rimini, ma per Niccolò Fabi, Daniele Silvestri e Max Gazzè la loro storia comune sui palchi inizia a metà degli anni Novanta, quando suonavano insieme al Locale di Roma, non semplicemente luogo storico della capitale, ma uno spazio aperto alla vita musicale e culturale della città e che di quella vita era il fulcro.
Quello spirito, quella curiosità, quella voglia di inventare e di inventarsi li ha sempre accompagnati e sarà la scintilla che accenderà il loro tour nei palazzetti.
Dopo il grande successo di “Life is Sweet” - il primo singolo della superband che ha debuttato direttamente al primo posto della classifica di iTunes - uscirà a settembre un album scritto, prodotto e interpretato dai tre artisti insieme.
Nel concerto di Fabi, Silvestri, Gazzè tour 2014 saranno centrali le nuove canzoni scritte a sei mani, ma a comporre quella scaletta confluiranno gli ormai ventennali repertori dei tre artisti, che si divertiranno a metter mano e voce l'uno nelle note dell'altro.
La superband sarà accompagnata da Roberto Angelini, Dedo (Massimo de Domenico), Piero Monterisi, Gianluca Misiti, Adriano Viterbini, Josè Ramon Caraballo Armas, amici vecchi e nuovi con i quali hanno condiviso i loro percorsi.
During our self-guided walking tour of Ketchikan, Alaska, Mike and I strolled through the city's historic Creek Street. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a designated historic district, Creek Street is located along the eastern shore of Ketchikan Creek adjacent to the downtown area. It features a boardwalk and buildings built over the water on wooden pilings, and it gained notoriety as Ketchikan's ''red-light district'' circa 1903-1954.
This shot faces northward along Creek Street, from a vantage point near the southern end of the street (where it meets Stedman Street), looking upstream past the many colorful wooden buildings. The green building at the right was formerly a brothel run by a Ketchikan ''sporting woman'' known as Dolly Arthur. Today, Dolly's House (24 Creek St.) is a museum that contains many of Dolly's own furnishings and artifacts.

● This house was the home of Dolly Arthur, Ketchikan's most famous ''sporting woman.'' From 1919 through the 1940s, it was also her place of business.
● Dolly, whose given name was Thelma Copeland, had already practiced her trade in Vancouver, Juneau, Petersburg and at the other end of Creek Street when she finally settled here at #24. She lived in the house until 1973, when ill health and failing eyesight required her to move into a nursing home.
● Looking back on her career shortly before her death at age eighty-eight, she said:
''I guess men thought I was fun and attractive, because I always seemed to have more friends than the other girls on Creek Street. I could never get along with other girls, you know--but I never had any trouble getting along with men.''

The Gorilla Baseplate for the EOS C300, Scarlet and Epic cameras is a simpler, lighter version of our C300 Studio Baseplate. It attaches to the camera with 3/8” 16 and ¼” 20 screws*. The Gorilla Baseplate features 15mm diameter, 60mm spaced threaded rod holes in the front of the base plate that allow users to mount a follow focus, lens support or other accessories in front of the camera. The Gorilla Baseplate is not compatible for matte box use unless you have a height adjustable matte box.The Gorilla Baseplate also features our rod port system on the side of the plate which allows you to mount an EVF or other accessories off of the side. The Gorilla Baseplate is great for building simple run’n’gun type set ups like the C300 Target Shooter, C300 Striker and Recoil. It can also be used for a simple tripod set-up. The Gorilla Baseplate does not come with rods, rods must be purchased separately.
