The Seattle Flickr Meetup Group had a garage shoot. Some of the models that night were belly dancers. This is Joanne and she was such a positive uplifting person, we talked at length about how special dance is to her and how it makes for a better life.

Lots of flashes all over the place getting moved and adjusted, this was my last shot and many flashes had run out of juice so I really don't know the setup!
The Louwman Museum in The Hague is one of the best and largest car and motoring museums in the world. It is famous for its large collection of early veteran and vintage cars but also has a magnificent collection of elegant interwar automobiles, racing cars, interesting automobilia, and fine art. The oldest car in the museum is from 1887 but all eras, genres, marques, and countries are covered to around 1960 (with a few newer racing cars). The Louwman Museum is on the outskirts of Den Haag, South Holland, in the Netherlands.

A few weeks ago I went along with Cathy, abstract_effects and
jonathenharty to Baron Hill near Beaumaris for a wee bit of urbex.
I was lying down on the floor (getting very muddy) for this one, I just wanted to get some of the floor in the shot and as my wide-angle lens is busted i had no choice but to get dirty.
I think this little guy just got back from World Of Warcraft where he got hit with the Mohawk Grenade.
You don't just luck into things... You build step by step, whether it's friendships or opportunities.

Drei Punkte gegen Mattersburg!
Trenkwalder Admira hat am Samstagabend, 13. August 2011, in der vierten Runde der tipp3-Bundes powered by T-Mobile einen 2:1-Heimsieg gegen SV Mattersburg gefeiert. Issiaka Ouedraogo (19.) und Daniel Drescher (83.) erzielten die Tore für Admira, die nach sieben Punkten aus den drei Heimspielen in Serie weiter Tabellenvierter ist.
Alexander Pöllhuber (62.) hatte für den zwischenzeitlichen Ausgleich der weiter sieglosen Burgenländer gesorgt, die in den vergangenen beiden Runden sowohl bei Meister Sturm Graz (2:2) als auch bei Vizemeister Salzburg (0:0) gepunktet hatten, nun aber auf den letzten Platz abrutschten.
Die Gäste mussten praktisch das gesamte Match mit nur neun Feldspielern auskommen, da Ilco Naumoski bereits in der neunten Minute ausgeschlossen worden war. Der Mazedonier hatte nach einem verlorenen Zweikampf vor den Augen von Referee Harald Lechner ein völlig unnötiges Foul ohne Ball an Stefan Schwab begangen, das vom Unparteiischen als Tätlichkeit gewertet worden war. Es war der bereits siebente Ausschluss von Naumoski in der Bundesliga.
Die Admira begann engagiert und gab in Minute elf durch Daniel Toth den ersten Warnschuss ab (knapp daneben). Eine Doppelchance von Patrik Jezek machte Thomas Borenitsch im Verbund mit seiner Abwehr zunichte (15.). Doch in der 19. Minute durften die Admira Fans jubeln: Über Jezek und Stefan Palla kam der Ball zu Schwab, dessen Schuss aus spitzem Winkel von Borenitsch schlecht - nämlich genau auf Ouedraogo - abgewehrt wurde. Der Stürmer aus Burkina Faso ließ sich nicht zweimal bitten und verwertete den Sitzer zu seinem ersten Bundesliga-Treffer.
Durch den Rückstand war Mattersburg trotz Unterzahl zu mehr Offensive gezwungen und hatte auch eine große Ausgleichsmöglichkeit: Nach einem Corner stieg Patrick Bürger hoch, doch sein wuchtiger Kopfball wurde von Admira-Schlussmann Hans-Peter Berger mit einer Glanzparade über die Latte gelenkt. Auf der Gegenseite zischte ein Ouedraogo-Schuss knapp am Tor vorbei (33.).
Nach dem Wechsel brachte aber ein Patzer von Berger die Mattersburger zurück ins Spiel. Nach einer Flanke von Wilfried Domoraud rutschte dem Goalie der Ball durch die Hände, dieses Geschenk nahm Pöllhuber dankend an und erzielte den Ausgleich (62.).
Als dann auch noch wenig später Admira-Abwehrchef Christopher Dibon nach einem Foul des durchbrechenden Mattersburg-Stürmers Bürger mit Rot des Feldes verwiesen wurde (67.), schienen die Burgenländer endgültig im Aufwind. Doch Drescher sorgte mit einem Gewaltschuss aus knapp 30 Metern, der via Lattenunterkante im Netz landete, noch für den Sieg der Südstädter .
Stimmen zum Spiel
Dietmar Kühbauer: „Es war ein schlussendlich etwas glücklicher Sieg, aber auch ein verdienter durch den Tausendguldenschuss vom ‚Dreschi‘. Der Ausschluss von Dibon war eine Fehlentscheidung, weil seinem Foul ein Foul von Bürger, der seinen Körper immer extrem einsetzt, vorangegangen war. Fußball war das heute keiner von Mattersburg. Der frühe Ausschluss und das frühe Tor haben meiner Mannschaft nicht gutgetan, denn da hat sie schon geglaubt, dass sie das Match im Sack hat.“
Hans-Peter Berger: „Wir waren ganz klar die bessere Mannschaft. Die Mattersburger haben ihren eigenen Spielstil, der es einem nicht einfach macht. Das Verrückteste an dieser Partie war, dass Drescher diesen Weitschuss aus 30 Metern reingehaut hat. Ich muss mich bei ihm bedanken, denn das Gegentor geht ganz klar auf meine Kappe, das war ein klassischer Fangfehler.“
Franz Lederer (Mattersburg-Trainer): „Diese Niederlage ist letztendlich bitter. Die Mannschaft war schnell in Unterzahl, ist früh in Rückstand geraten, hat sich aber zurückgekämpft und den Ausgleich geschafft. Und dann ist der Fangschuss aus dem Nichts gekommen. Meine Mannschaft hat es meistens nicht verstanden, in diesem Match ruhigzubleiben, hat zu hektisch agiert, vor allem nach dem 1:1. Nach vier Runden hängt uns die Heimniederlage gegen Wiener Neustadt natürlich nach, aber jetzt haben wir zwei Heimspiele, in denen wir versuchen müssen, möglichst viele Punkte zu holen.“

P. adelaidae workers engaging in what appears to be a territorial dispute. Usually when workers from different colonies of the same species intrude on each other's territory, they will antennate or engage in ritualised fighting of some kind to resolve the dispute. But when push comes to shove they will attack one another, which is what seems to have happened here. A dominance battle ensues, with the victor retaining rights to forage in the area.
Above, one worker has a strong grip on the other's antennae and showed no signs of releasing it while I watched on and photographed them. Below, another pair of workers were engaged in a struggle nearby. The smaller worker kept trying to escape but the larger worker had a pretty good grasp on its postpetiole.

Los Escobazos de Jarandilla de la Vera

Cuentan los jarandillanos que antiguamente los pastores de la zona cuando regresaban al pueblo intercambiaban "escobazos" unos con otros por medio de escobones para celebrar su vuelta a casa y su encuentro con la familia y otros pastores. Algunos apuntan que los cabreros bajaban de la sierra para celebrar la fiesta de la Inmaculada. Salían de madrugada y al tener dificultades para ver se proveían de escobones. Para ello utilizaban un arbusto muy común en La Vera, la escobera, que arde con facilidad, elaborando enormes antorchas que se denominaron escoberas. Otros achacan esta tradición a una costumbre antigua que tenían los agricultores para celebrar la finalización de las tareas del otoño.
En cualquier caso, hoy día, se ha convertido en una fiesta espectacular. El viajero no tiene por menos que portar ropas muy viejas, así como algún gorro o capucha y guantes para protegerse del fuego. La fiesta comienza a las siete de la tarde. Los jarandillanos van por las calles repartiéndose "escobazos" unos a otros y bebiendo vino, hasta las nueve, hora de la procesión. En ese momento se vitorea a la virgen y se la ilumina con lo que queda de los escobones. Es el momento culminante de la fiesta.

Kurama is a rural town in the northern mountains of Kyoto City, less than one hour from the city center. Kurama is best known for its temple Kurama-dera and its hot spring, one of the most easily accessible hot springs from Kyoto.
Outdoor and indoor baths can be enjoyed at Kurama Onsen, a ryokan located at the upper end of the town of Kurama. It can be reached in a 10 minute walk from the train station along the town's only road or along a nature trail following the river.
