I don't know too many people who ENJOY having their pictures taken, and I am certainly NOT of that ilk. But from time to time, I know I must come out from behind the lens and show my face. I went to Saco Heath this morning to take photos of this beautiful bog landscape. Unfortunately, the light was too bright already, which didn't make for very impressive photos, but I had a wonderful walk, not only hearing and seeing lots of great birds but being STALKED in the woods by what I believe was a Marten! At the time I thought it was a demented, mutant chipmunk, being long and skinny with a small tail and reddish fur and an angry expression, as it glared down from a tree at me. But my daughter suggested that it must have been either a weasel or a marten and when we looked it up in Wikipedia, there was my Mutated Chipmunk staring back at me with the title of American Marten over its picture!

CAMP HUMPHREYS — There was no trash-talking on Saturday, Sept. 17 as the United Service Organizations hosted a community clean-up at AK Plaza.
“We started it last month and the reason we are doing this is to establish good relations with the Korean community and to show a good image for the U.S. Army,” stated USO Center Manager Tami Hager, who heard good reports while she and others were out volunteering their time for this monthly project.
Not only did USO volunteers lend a helping hand but there was also support from Better Opportunities for Single (and unaccompanied) Soldiers volunteers.
“I feel good!” stated volunteer Sgt. 1st Class Terry Freeman, who belongs to the 194th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. “It was a good turn out and a lot of participation to help clean up.”
“It’s good community service and I love to give back to the community” said Staff Sgt. Alex Quanon, which belongs to the 95th Blood Support Detachment. “I love a clean environment and there is no better way to contribute to that than doing this.”
The community clean-up started at 9:30 a.m. and takes about two hours. They meet at the front gate and after all the hard work, the USO showed appreciation to the volunteers by providing refreshments afterward.
“Honestly…,” stated Pfc. Suzette LaFrance, 95th BSD, “it was fun to pick up the trash and socialize.” She then went on to say, “I’m definitely looking forward to getting something to eat after all this excitement!”
“I feel like it’s a good opportunity to help contribute to a better environment in Korea,” stated Spc. Daniel Pellegrini, 95th BSD. He also continued “I would like to encourage my fellow soldiers to contribute a few hours towards USO and other volunteering opportunities.”

You've asked four artists (Monika Sosnowska, Franz West, Song Dong, and Oscar Tuazon) to create "parapavilions," which will host other artists' works. How did this idea come about?
In Venice, the big curated shows tend to be compilations of works displayed one after the other — particularly in the long space of the Arsenale. I was trying to find a way for artworks to be more closely intertwined, and this seems to be an interesting solution. With the "parapavilions," the questions of identity and nationality are getting a bit mixed up. Oscar Tuazon is creating a pavilion that will showcase the work of Asier Mendizabal. They are communicating a lot about it, but since Oscar is still changing the space it might be that, at some point, Asier will say, "I cannot work in the space like this." The parapavilions are about the negotiation between two artists, and that's very different from just me saying this goes here and that goes there.

Here, a grandmother is working with 2 of her granddaughters to milk a herd of sheep in a yayla close to the Iranian border. Each one of the trio has a specific role to play, repeated every day (the girl standing with the stick is pushing one animal at a time to the girl sitting who is maintaining the sheep strongly to prevent her from moving).
"Yaylas" are high pastures where villagers with large herd of cows or sheep migrate for some months in the summers.

This year’s TorC Film Fiesta was held from October 22-24, 2021 in Truth or Consequences New Mexico and screened winning feature and short films from the Santa Fe Film Festival and some local films in addition to “Walking with Herb’ a truly New Mexican film from the author of the book to the filmmaker.
The festival also had Anthony Michael Hall, who is a star in the new “Halloween Kills” movie along with a rich history of film and TV work. Three of the films that AMH made with John Hughes, “Weird Science,” “16 Candles,” and “The Breakfast Club” were screened on the opening night of the festival with AMH available for photos, signed merch and a Q&A held after the final film was shown to a grateful audience of fans.

Filmmakers were also honored with a filmmaker brunch, a panel by esteemed entertainment lawyer, Harris Tulchan, at Ingo’s Cafe, after parties at the Point Blanc Winery and Glam Camp which also had a fire dancer perform in addition to everyone letting loose and singing Karaoke songs throughout the night.
There was a filmmakers brunch at the Center Gallery and a filmmakers lounge with specialty cocktails during the festival.
In addition to honoring filmmakers, it was a joy to hear that they were excited to see their films on the big screen.

My Ride had a cold miss on cold mornings. It only missed for about 30 seconds then would run just fine. I figure it was needing a tune-up since it has over 135k miles and I'm sure it has never had one. Cost me around $50 in parts; a new distributor cap, ignition rotor, 6 spark plugs and spark plug wires. I bought them from NAPA. Took me a couple of hours. The hardest thing about it was the console cover. Pain to remove and install because of the carpeting.

This year’s TorC Film Fiesta was held from October 22-24, 2021 in Truth or Consequences New Mexico and screened winning feature and short films from the Santa Fe Film Festival and some local films in addition to “Walking with Herb’ a truly New Mexican film from the author of the book to the filmmaker.
The festival also had Anthony Michael Hall, who is a star in the new “Halloween Kills” movie along with a rich history of film and TV work. Three of the films that AMH made with John Hughes, “Weird Science,” “16 Candles,” and “The Breakfast Club” were screened on the opening night of the festival with AMH available for photos, signed merch and a Q&A held after the final film was shown to a grateful audience of fans.

Filmmakers were also honored with a filmmaker brunch, a panel by esteemed entertainment lawyer, Harris Tulchan, at Ingo’s Cafe, after parties at the Point Blanc Winery and Glam Camp which also had a fire dancer perform in addition to everyone letting loose and singing Karaoke songs throughout the night.
There was a filmmakers brunch at the Center Gallery and a filmmakers lounge with specialty cocktails during the festival.
In addition to honoring filmmakers, it was a joy to hear that they were excited to see their films on the big screen.

The Overview Effect, which was held on 1 December 2013, the 40th anniversary of The Blue Marble, the first full portrait of Earth taken from space. The event was led by Frank White of the Harvard Kennedy School and author of the book by the same name. Frank also leads The Overview Institute, which co-organized the event. Featured were astronauts Jeff Hoffman of the MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Ron Garan of NASA — and filmmakers Douglas Trumbull (who shaped our visions of space with groundbreaking special effects in 2001: a Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Silent Running, Tree of Life and much more) and Guy Reid, whose documentary "Overview" was premiered at the event. Celaya fue establecida en uno de los cruces de caminos de la rica región minera de Guanajuato, por lo que, tras instalarse un fortín de protección frente a los chichimecas, se fue consolidando como centro comercial de la producción agrícola y ganadera de la zona.
Por los mismos motivos, las órdenes religiosas —franciscanos carmelitas y agustinos— fueron construyendo, al estilo de don Vasco de Quiroga, capillas hospital en la población. Aunque el virrey Enríquez de Almanza otorgó a los franciscanos los derechos de evangelización del territorio, los agustinos compitieron con ellos y más tarde con los juaninos, los mercedarios y los jesuitas.
En 1609 se colocó la primera piedra de lo que sería el templo y el convento de San Agustín, uno de los más sobresalientes de la villa por su elegante diseño renacentista que mezclaba elementos platerescos con detalles mudéjares y nervaduras góticas. Sus afamados altares barrocos originales sufrieron el fuego del neoclásico y fueron sustituidos por los actuales neogóticos. Posee un esbelto campanario atribuido a una remodelación del arquitecto Tres Guerras, natural de Celaya.
En 1863, durante la guerra de Reforma, la propiedad fue expropiada y convertida en cárcel hasta 1962, en que se reabrió como escuela de artes plásticas. Posteriormente, tras una cuidadosa restauración, viene siendo la sede de la Casa de la Cultura desde 1976.

Das Amateur-Duell zwischen Admira und Rapid endet torlos. Eine gerechte Punkteteilung in einer Partie mit wenig Höhepunkten. Auf beiden Seiten ließen die Angriffsleistungen zu wünschen übrig, so dass die Abwehrreihen wenig Mühe hatten, das Spiel zu dominieren. Die wenigen Chancen, die es auf beiden Seiten gab, machten die Goalies Manzoni und Knoflach, die beide eine sehr gute Partie spielten, samt und sonders zunichte und so war das 0:0 am Ende das logische Resultat. In der zweiten Halbzeit, in der die Rapid Amateure vor allem in der letzten Viertelstunde die etwas aktivere Mannschaft waren, hatte jedes Team jeweils eine Großchance, am Ende schien man aber auf beiden Seiten mit der Punkteteilung durchaus zufrieden zu sein...

Open Sailing aims to design and invent future lifestyles to overcome any possible natural and manmade disasters stimulating people’s ingenuity and sense of solidarity. Might it be global warming or energy conflicts, we are living in a time where we are sniffing the ‘Apocalypse’, finally realising our human part of responsibility as the earth is crumbling. 2012 is a year when a collection of apocalyptic events are rumored to happen. We are taking 2012 as an ideal dystopic symbol we design for. 2012 is tomorrow, we must design quickly using these constraints and invent bootstrapping DIY technologies.
Open Sailing method is to convert apocalyptic threats into design constraints. From our compiled set of threat maps, we found that oceans are the safest locations. Ocean survival architecture became our new starting point, but we need to go further than surviving : how can we live together in this new fluid configuration and remain a hyper-connected intelligent social being? We are trying to make a truly “open architecture” : pre-broken, under-defined, reconfigurable, moveable, pluggable, organic, fluid. Can we reach a harmonious dynamic state of interdependence with each other and the earth? Is this the next step of civilization progress? Will we dissociate our concept of progress with infrastructure and metropolis?
