URBAN ART MURALISM - ARTIST EXCHANGE in AMSTERDAM
A group of 36 Urban Artists coming from six European countries – Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Italy, France and Austria – took part in the European Art Exchange Project “SH(OUT)!!!” from 18.03.11 to 27.03.11 in Amsterdam.
The main activities included several mural paintings in the city of Amsterdam, an exhibition in the Dokhuis Gallery as well as a common art workshop with local young people.
Nowadays Urban Art has worldwide acceptance as a young art form. Urban Artists form and transform public spaces and present their work, free of charge, throughout the cities. The event gives respect and pays tribute to art from the streets and makes this art form more accessible to a broader audience through various live painting activities in the city, two innovative group exhibitions and workshops.

La Iglesia de San Felipe Neri de Cádiz, perteneciente a un primitivo oratorio de filipenses hacia el año 1671, comienza su actual transformación sobre el año 1688 a manos del maestro de obras Blas Díaz, quedando acabada para su inauguración en 1719 siendo consagrada el 17 de septiembre del mismo año. No obstante, elementos importantes como su primera cúpula debieron quedar arruinadas tras los efectos del Terremoto de Lisboa de 1755, por lo que hubo de acometerse su reconstrucción, ahora mediante el también maestro de obras Pedro Luis Gutiérrez de San Martín, quien la deja acabada en 1764, tal como hoy se ve.
Establecimiento de los Padres Filipenses en Cádiz
En el año 1671 llegaron a Cádiz dos Padres Filipenses a quienes el Obispo de la Diócesis, Fray Alonso Vázquez de Toledo, con fecha 20 de agosto, concedió licencia para dicha fundación, a lo que el Cabildo Eclesiástico dio su consentimiento complaciente. Pero en contra de lo que pueda creerse, la formación de esta comunidad, que se dedicaba únicamente al confesionario y a la predicación, no fue tarea fácil y estuvo jalonada de vicisitudes para los religiosos que emprendieron esta tarea. Finalmente, los Padres Filipenses construyeron en el mismo lugar en que ahora se encuentra, su pequeña y primitiva iglesia.
Transcurridos algunos años fueron derribadas las casas adquiridas por el Obispo para dar comienzo los Filipenses a las obras para la construcción del templo y residencia que habían de habitar los religiosos de dicha orden, cuyas edificaciones son las mismas que actualmente subsisten, con algunas ligeras modificaciones en su interior, para adaptarlas a las necesidades a que se dedicaron posteriormente.
En la realización de las obras intervinieron los arquitectos Vicente Acero y Gaspar Cayón; los escultores y decoradores Luis Antonio de los Arcos, Juan Fagundo, Jerónimo Barbás y el pintor italiano Brinardelli. Los Filipenses estaban además muy bien relacionados con las personas más pudientes de la ciudad, entre cuyos más decididos protectores se encontraban el Marqués de Casa-Recaño, el Conde de Cinco Torres y otros aristócratas que dispusieron parte de sus fortunas con destino a la fábrica del templo. Como prueba de esa ayuda económica y de la influencia que los Padres de esta Orden habían llegado a adquirir, hasta el Cabildo Municipal celebrado el día 1 de Abril de 1717, acordó que se acudiera a Su Majestad pidiendo la facultad para socorrer con quinientos pesos a la Congregación de San Felipe Neri para la fábrica de su iglesia, lo que autorizó la Corona por Real Despacho de 1 de octubre del mismo año.
La consagración del templo tuvo lugar el día 17 de septiembre de 1719, celebrándose con tal motivo diversas fiestas religiosas que revistieron gran solemnidad, así como otras profanas, entre las que hemos de destacar una vistosa función de fuegos artificiales costeada por el Ayuntamiento, que entre el regocijo del público se quemó en la Plaza del Remolar (actual Plaza de San Felipe Neri). Algún tiempo después, en 1775, se le hicieron al templo diversas reformas que alteraron notablemente la buena ornamentación del mismo en su primera época, ya que con ellas desaparecieron las pinturas murales y el dorado de las pilastras, de las que años después continuaron advirtiéndose algunos vestigios.
También se realizaron en esta iglesia algunas obras durante el siglo XIX, de las que una de las más importantes fue el haber aumentado su número de capillas laterales de cinco a seis, formándose la del centro del lado de la Epístola, para la construcción de la cual se aprovechó una puerta que daba a la Plaza del Remolar.
Descripción de la iglesia
El aspecto exterior del templo es de una extremada sencillez, ya que ni siquiera dispone de la clásica portada de las iglesias gaditanas. Sobre su puerta campea el escudo de la Orden que lo fundara. La austeridad de la fachada está dominada por la inmensa bóveda cubierta de tejas clásicas, presentando en la esquina una torre cuadrara muy baja y sin remate alguno.

I carved the Lord's Prayer in this oak faced pallet which I found washed up on a beach in Ibiza, Spain. It took me a week, a line a day roughly, using just a stanley knife to carve the lettering. It was a joy to do it. I started it on the beach and then moved up into a forest overlooking a beautiful bay. A very tranquil week's work!

As of the census[3] of 2000, there are 273,546 people, 91,382 households, and 61,956 families residing in Newark; recent census projections show that the population has already increased to around 280,000. "On April 2, Lak was found dead from gunshot wounds in his home at 1246 Eighth St. According to court documents, Lak was shot three times in the head and there were signs that a struggle occurred. Police received a report of shots fired, which included a description of a vehicle leaving the residence immediately following the gunfire. Officers saw the silver-green Pontiac Bonneville and tried to follow it. The car eventually crashed into a tree at the corner of Dewey and Henry avenues." (This is 6 blocks due east of my house. After work, I went off for a quick bike ride down North (usual route), and came across this scene. I grew up 2 blocks east, at 1247 Oak.)

Facebook group "1,000,000 People Against the NYC MTA Fare Hike" organized a rally against the second proposed fare hike within months. Speakers from Transportation Alternatives, NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign, Working Families Party, Keep New York Moving Coalition, COMMUTE as well as public figures and teachers spoke to a large crowd in Union Square Park today.
They are asking New Yorkers to reach out to government about what will be a historically unprecedented 25% rate hike, which possibly could be avoided if the State Senate comes back from vacation to address.

La cathédrale Saint-Trophime (Trophimus) est une église romane de la ville d'Arles.
L’église Saint-Trophime, ancienne cathédrale et primatiale, est située place de la République à Arles ; c’est une des plus intéressantes réalisations de l’art roman. Elle présente une nef et des bas-côtés voûtés datant du milieu du xiie siècle. Un magnifique portail sculpté est réalisé vers 1180-1190 et rivalise avec celui de Saint-Gilles. L’ancien clocher est remplacé au début du xiiie siècle par la tour carrée actuelle dont le dernier étage a été refait au xviie siècle. Le chœur et le déambulatoire datent du xve siècle.
Annexé à cette église se trouve le fameux cloître de Saint-Trophime, le plus célèbre de Provence ; l’accès se fait par la cour du bâtiment situé à côté de l'église. Il date de la seconde moitié du xiie siècle pour deux galeries et du xive siècle pour les deux autres.
Le cloître Saint-Trophime de l’ancienne cathédrale d’Arles date du xiie siècle et xive siècle. L’emplacement de ce cloître est inhabituel car il n’est accolé ni à la nef ni au transept. Il communique avec le chœur au moyen d’un escalier de vingt-cinq marches. Ce cloître présente une forme approximativement rectangulaire de 28 m de long sur 25 m de large. Des dimensions comparables ne se retrouvent dans la région Provence que dans les cloîtres du Thoronet, de Sénanque ou de Montmajour.
L’édification du cloître débute peu après 1150 avec la construction de la galerie nord qui sera suivie de peu par celle de la galerie orientale. Il faudra attendre la fin du xive siècle pour voir l’achèvement du cloître avec les constructions de la galerie ouest puis de la galerie sud qui sera terminée sous l’épiscopat de Jean de Rochechouart (1390-1398). Il résulte de ces différentes périodes de construction, deux styles différents pour les galeries : le roman pour les galeries nord et est, et le gothique pour les galeries ouest et sud.
Le cloître traduit une recherche de la perfection plastique avec un remarquable équilibre des volumes et une grande qualité de la décoration sculptée.

Return to Hatton Station.
My train was due at 14:44, so I had around an hour here.
Hatton railway station takes the name of the village of Hatton in Warwickshire, England, although it is about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the village. The nearest settlement is Little Shrewley. The station is managed by Chiltern Railways.
Hatton is the junction station at which the lines from Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon and Birmingham diverge. The station is unstaffed; ticketing is restricted to a 'Permit-to-Travel' machine located at the single entrance to the station on the London-bound (southbound) platform. There is a small shelter on the southbound platform 1 and also one on the island platform (platform 2 for Birmingham-bound services and platform 3 for stations to Stratford upon Avon which bear to the west immediately north of the station. A footbridge links platform 1 with island platform 2/3).
Each platform at the station is equipped with a real-time electronic information departure screen.

I earlier caught this one from Solihull to Hatton. It was heading to Leamington Spa. I had to wait another 40 minutes before I could get it back to Solihull.
