Café Du Monde is a Vieux Carré (French Quarter) icon. Just below Jackson Sqaure at Decatur, it is open 24 hours, serving up chicory-cut cafe au lait and beignets (powered sugar coated fried fritters) to locals and visitors alike. Someone told me that Café Du Monde only lost their awning in Katrina, but they didnt know if that was because of Jesus or the devil, because both are known to drink at Du Monde.

Gion Matsuri is a festival takes place in honor of Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto with over 30 events in July. The origin of this festival is a religious ritual to calm the plague that spread all over the country in 869. The highlight of the festival is "Yamaboko Junko" held on 17th (Saki-Matsuri) and 24th(Ato-matsuri). In this event decorated floats are pulled by people and parade around downtown Kyoto.

"Yoiyama" is a pre-night festival of "Yamaboko Junko". From 14th through 16th(Saki-Matsuri) and 21st through 23rd(Ato-Matsuri), floats are built on the streets and you can see the inside of the floats during that time. There are many roadside stands that sell snacks and sweets.

Παναγία Πελεκητή: Η «βασίλισσα» των Αγράφων

Είναι ένα από τα μοναστήρια που ξεχωρίζουν. Το τοπίο, η αρχιτεκτονική του, η ιστορία του καθιστούν την Ιερά Μονή της Παναγίας Πελεκητής προσκυνηματικό κέντρο. Βρίσκεται κτισμένη πάνω από την τεχνητή λίμνη Πλαστήρα στην Καρδίτσα και υπάγεται διοικητικά στη Μητρόπολη Φαναριοφερσάλων. Σύμφωνα με τα τελευταία ιστορικά στοιχεία, κτίστηκε πριν από περίπου πέντε αιώνες σε μια απόκρημνη, βραχώδη πλαγιά των Αγράφων, σε υψόμετρο 1.400 μέτρων, βορειοδυτικά του χωριού Καρίτσα.

Η ιστορία της Ιεράς Μονής Παναγίας Πελεκητής έχει συνδεθεί με την πορεία της περιοχής, η οποία συμμετείχε σε όλους τους αγώνες του Έθνους. Κατά την επανάσταση του 1821 η Καρίτσα καταστράφηκε από τους Τούρκους, ενώ το 1943 από τους Γερμανούς. Οι μοναχοί της μονής ήταν εκ των πρωταγωνιστών κατά την απελευθέρωση της Καρίτσας από τους Τούρκους, δημιουργώντας μια διαφορετική σχέση με τους κατοίκους.

Από την ίδρυσή της η μονή δέσποζε στα εκκλησιαστικά πράγματα της περιοχής αφού είχε αναγνωριστεί ως σταυροπηγιακή το 1606 από τον Οικουμενικό Πατριάρχη Ραφαήλ Β΄.

Πελεκητή ονομάστηκε καθώς τα κελιά της δημιουργήθηκαν μέσα στους βράχους σε τέσσερα επίπεδα, όπου οι μοναχοί ζούσαν και λειτουργούσαν το μοναστήρι, ενώ υπήρχε ακόμη και κρυφό σχολειό.

Ο Πορφύριος

Όπως αναφέρει ο Φώτης Κερασιώτης, που έχει ασχοληθεί με την ιστορία της μονής, η ίδρυσή της άρχισε πιθανότατα στα τέλη του 15ου αιώνα από τον Πνευματικό Πορφύριο και ολοκληρώθηκε το 1529 στη σημερινή της μορφή από τον νέο Οσιομάρτυρα Δαμιανό, ο οποίος ιστορείται ως «κτήτωρ» σε δύο τοιχογραφίες της. Το μοναστήρι αγιογραφήθηκε στα μέσα του 17ου αιώνα και έχει δύο ναούς, τον Ναό της Αναλήψεως του Χριστού και τον Ναό της Παναγιάς Φανερωμένης (το Καθολικό).

Το Καθολικό είναι ο κεντρικός και αρχαιότερος ναός, αφιερωμένος στην Ανάληψη του Κυρίου. Είναι μονόκλιτη βασιλική με νάρθηκα, στεγασμένη με κυλινδρική καμάρα, με ενισχυτικό τόξο στο μέσο. Σύμφωνα με σχετική επιγραφή που υπάρχει εντός του ναού, αγιογραφήθηκε το 1654 από τους αγιογράφους Ιωάννη, Νικόλαο Ιερέα και Ιάκωβο Ιερομόναχο.

Ο δεύτερος ναός είναι αφιερωμένος στην Παναγία Φανερωμένη. Είναι αθωνικού ρυθμού, με τρούλο και πλευρικούς χορούς, χωρίς εσωτερικούς κίονες. Οι τοιχογραφίες, όπως προκύπτει από σχετική επιγραφή που υπάρχει επάνω από τη θύρα εισόδου, ιστορήθηκαν το 1666. Ανιστορήθηκαν το 1674 από τον αγιογράφο Ιάκωβο και τον γιο του Δημήτριο.

Γνωστή είναι η μικρή αλλά θαυματουργή εικόνα της Παναγίας Πελεκητής, στην οποία έχει ζωγραφιστεί η Παναγία με τον Χριστό στην αγκαλιά της. Η εικόνα δυστυχώς εκλάπη και αναζητείται για να επιστραφεί στη φυσική της θέση, το μοναστήρι. Ο Ευρυτάνας ιστορικός Πάνος Βασιλείου το 1929 έγραψε τα εξής: «Εκτός της αρίστης Βυζαντινής τέχνης σε τοιχογραφίες, υπάρχει εδώ μια εικόνα (ελαιογραφία 0,04Χ0,03) της Παναγίας με τον Χριστό στην αγκαλιά της, έργο Ραφαηλικής τέχνης. Δεν εξηγείται πώς η μικροσκοπική αυτή εικονίτσα, που θεωρείται και σαν παλαιότερη, αλλά θαυματουργός, βρέθηκε εδώ πάνω. Φέρει χρονολογία 1654.

Η τεχνοτροπία της θυμίζει τον Χριστό του Πρωτάτου του Αγίου Όρους, το γνωστό έργο του Πανσέληνου. Μάλιστα ήταν η εικονίτσα τούτη στολισμένη με 20 πολύτιμες πέτρες από τις οποίες οι 16 αφαιρέθηκαν από… αγνώστους, χωρίς φυσικά τούτου να σημειωθεί σε κανένα, ως τα σήμερα, αστυνομικό δελτίο. Μένουν ακόμα, ευτυχώς, 4 ερυθρόχρωμες πετρούλες στο επαργυρωμένο περίβλημά της που έχει μέγεθος 0,21Χ0,23 μ. και που φέρει επάνω του σκαλισμένα αγγελούδια. Μια απέραντη καλοσύνη ζωγραφίζεται στο χαμογελαστό πρόσωπο της Παναγίας, της οποίας το παιδάκι παρουσιάζει κάτι το αληθινά Θείο και αξιοθαύμαστο για τη χαρούμενη εκφραστικότητά του. Η θαυμάσια αυτή εικόνα της Παναγίας της Πελεκητής θυμίζει Αναγέννηση».

Το μοναστήρι λόγω της περίτεχνης κατασκευής του και της ένδοξης ιστορίας του έχει ανακηρυχθεί «Ιστορικό Διατηρητέο Μνημείο». Δυστυχώς, όμως, από τον πλούτο των εκκλησιαστικών κειμηλίων και της σπάνιας βιβλιοθήκης του ελάχιστα, σήμερα, διασώζονται.

Το μοναστήρι πανηγυρίζει στις 15 Αυγούστου, της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, ύστερα από σημαντικές πρωτοβουλίες των τοπικών φορέων και άλλων παραγόντων, εξευρέθηκαν τα απαραίτητα χρηματικά ποσά και το μοναστήρι έχει ανακαινισθεί και αξιοποιηθεί, συγκεντρώνοντας πλήθος προσκυνητών από ολόκληρη την ελληνική επικράτεια.

Όταν οι μοναχοί μετακίνησαν τα σύνορα το 1831

Εντύπωση προκαλεί και το εξής περιστατικό: Μετά τη δημιουργία του ελληνικού Κράτους, το 1831, η Καρύτσα (είναι το χωριό κάτω από το μοναστήρι) και ο Μπελεκομύτης βρέθηκαν εκτός ελληνικών συνόρων γιατί καθορίστηκαν επί του Καρυτσιώτη ποταμού, ενώ αυτά τα δύο χωριά βρίσκονται μετά τον ποταμό. Τότε οι μοναχοί μαζί με τους κατοίκους των δύο χωριών μετακίνησαν αυθαίρετα τα σύνορα και τα τοποθέτησαν μετά το μοναστήρι, στο οροπέδιο του Καραμανώλη.

Panagia Pelekiti(rusticated): The "Queen" of Agrafa

It is one of the monasteries that stand out. The landscape, architecture, history make the Holy Monastery of Panayia Pelekiti a pilgrimage center. It is built above the artificial lake Plastira in Karditsa and is administratively subordinated to the Cathedral of Fanariers. According to the latest historical data, it was built about five centuries ago on a steep rocky slope of Agrafa, at an altitude of 1,400 meters, northwest of Karitsa village.

The history of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Pelekiti has been linked to the course of the region, which participated in all the struggles of the Nation. During the revolution of 1821 Karitsa was destroyed by the Turks, while in 1943 by the Germans. The monks of the monastery were among the protagonists in the liberation of Karitsa from the Turks, creating a different relationship with the inhabitants.

Since its founding, the monastery has dominated the ecclesiastical things of the region since it was recognized as a cruciform in 1606 by the Ecumenical Patriarch Raffael II.

The second temple is dedicated to Panagia Faneromeni. It is of the Athonian style, with dome and side dances, without internal columns. The frescoes, as indicated by a relevant inscription above the entrance door, were discovered in 1666. They were painted in 1674 by the icon-painter Iakovos and his son Dimitrios.

Known is the small but miraculous icon of Panagia Pelekiti, in which the Virgin Mary is painted with Christ in her arms. The picture is unfortunately stolen and sought to be returned to its natural place, the monastery. Evrytanas historian Panos Vassiliou wrote in 1929: "In addition to the excellent Byzantine art in frescoes, there is an icon (oil painting 0,04x0,03) of the Virgin Mary with Christ in her arms, a work of Raphael art. It is not explained how this tiny icon, which is considered as an old but miraculous icon, was found here. It dates back to 1654.

Esta clase de aparición no es en aras de cumplir un trámite o de una labor a corto plazo, sino que es para una etapa en la obra de Su plan de gestión. La aparición de Dios siempre es significativa y siempre guarda relación con Su plan de gestión. A lo que se le llama “aparición” aquí es completamente diferente a la clase de “aparición” en la que Dios guía, lidera y esclarece al hombre. Cada vez que Él se revela, Él lleva a cabo una etapa de Su gran obra. Esta obra es diferente de la de cualquier otra era. El hombre no la puede imaginar y nunca la ha experimentado. Es una obra que da inicio a una nueva era y termina con la antigua, y es una forma nueva y mejorada de obrar para la salvación de la humanidad; más aún, es una obra que lleva a la humanidad a una nueva era. Esto es lo que significa la aparición de Dios.

Extracto de “La aparición de Dios ha dado lugar a una nueva era”

Jesús dijo que Él llegaría tal como se fue, pero ¿conoces el verdadero significado de Sus palabras? ¿Pudo realmente habérselo dicho a este grupo que formáis? Sólo sabes que Él llegará tal como se fue en una nube, pero ¿sabes exactamente cómo hace Su obra Dios mismo? Si de verdad fueras capaz de ver, entonces ¿cómo deben explicarse las palabras de Jesús? Él dijo: Cuando el Hijo del hombre venga en los últimos días, Él mismo no sabrá, los ángeles no sabrán, los mensajeros en el cielo no sabrán, y las personas no sabrán. Sólo el Padre sabrá, esto es, sólo el Espíritu sabrá. Ni siquiera el propio Hijo del hombre sabe, ¿y tú eres capaz de ver y saber? Si tú fueras capaz de saberlo y verlo con tus propios ojos, ¿acaso estas palabras no se habrán dicho en vano? ¿Y qué dijo Jesús en ese momento? “Pero de aquel día y hora nadie sabe, ni siquiera los ángeles del cielo, ni el Hijo, sino solo el Padre. Porque como en los días de Noé, así será la venida del Hijo del Hombre. […] Por eso, también vosotros estad preparados, porque a la hora que no pensáis vendrá el Hijo del Hombre”. Cuando llegue ese día, el Hijo del hombre no lo sabrá. El Hijo del hombre se refiere a la carne encarnada de Dios, una persona normal y corriente. Ni siquiera el propio Hijo del hombre lo sabe; así pues, ¿cómo podrías saberlo tú?

Extracto de “La visión de la obra de Dios (3)”

Esta vez, Dios viene a hacer la obra, no en un cuerpo espiritual, sino en uno muy corriente. Además, no sólo es el cuerpo de la segunda encarnación de Dios, sino también el cuerpo a través del cual Él regresa a la carne. Es una carne muy corriente. No puedes ver nada que lo haga resaltar entre los demás, pero puedes recibir de Él las verdades que nunca antes se han oído. Esta carne insignificante es la personificación de todas las palabras de la verdad de Dios, la que emprende Su obra en los últimos días y la que expresa todo el carácter de Dios para que el hombre lo entienda. ¿No deseas enormemente ver al Dios del cielo? ¿No deseas enormemente entender al Dios del cielo? ¿No deseas enormemente ver el destino de la humanidad? Él te contará todos estos secretos que ningún hombre ha sido capaz de contarte y Él te hablará también de las verdades que no entiendes. Él es tu puerta al reino y tu guía a la nueva era. Una carne tan corriente contiene muchos misterios insondables. Sus hechos pueden ser inescrutables para ti, pero el objetivo de toda la obra que Él realiza es suficiente para que veas que Él no es una simple carne como la gente cree. Porque Él representa la voluntad de Dios, así como el cuidado mostrado por Dios hacia la humanidad en los últimos días. Aunque no puedes oír las palabras que Él habla, que parecen sacudir los cielos y la tierra, ni ver Sus ojos como llamas abrasadoras, y aunque no puedes sentir la disciplina de Su vara de hierro, sí puedes oír de Sus palabras la furia de Dios y saber que Él muestra compasión por la humanidad; puedes ver Su carácter justo y Su sabiduría, y darte cuenta, además, de la preocupación que tiene por toda la humanidad. La obra de Dios en los últimos días consiste en permitirle al hombre ver al Dios del cielo vivir entre los hombres sobre la tierra y permitirles que lo conozcan, obedezcan, reverencien y amen. Por esta razón, Él ha regresado a la carne por segunda vez.

If one passes the garden at the rear of the Juhamnu Pavilion and walks down along the slope of the hill leading into the stairway, the person can find a square pond on the opposite side and a pavilion on the north bank of the pond. This is the Aeryeonjeong, which is composed of only 1 kan. Looking out of the windows of the pavilion, one can enjoy a wonderful view. It looks like just a framed picture, owing to the decorations attached to the upper part of the pillars. Of course, the mood of the picture depends on the season. In particular, the stone structure, through which water comes into the pond, is opposite excellent in beauty and technique of design.

Los hermanos y hermanas que realmente creen en el Señor conocen la parábola de las 10 vírgenes (cinco vírgenes prudentes y cinco vírgenes insensatas) en la Biblia, entonces, ¿qué es una virgen prudente y cómo una virgen inteligente recibir al Señor?

Dios dice: “Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, y yo las conozco, y me siguen;”（Juan 10:27 ）

“Todos los que pueden obedecer las declaraciones actuales del Espíritu Santo son benditos. No importa cómo solían ser o cómo el Espíritu Santo solía obrar en ellos, los que han obtenido la última obra son los más bendecidos y los que no pueden seguir la última obra hoy son eliminados. Dios quiere a los que son capaces de aceptar la nueva luz y Él quiere a los que aceptan y conocen Su última obra. ¿Por qué se dice que debéis ser una virgen casta? Una virgen casta puede buscar la obra del Espíritu Santo y entender las cosas nuevas y, además, puede desechar las antiguas concepciones y obedecer la obra de Dios hoy”.

De “La Palabra manifestada en carne”

La Palabra de Dios nos dice que la clave para ser una virgen prudente es escuchar la voz de Dios, cuando alguien escucha el testimonio del regreso del Señor, poder dejar de lado sus propias ideas y buscar y investigar humilde, saber distinguir la voz del Señor. Al igual que Natanael registrado en la Biblia, cuando Felipe dio testimonio el Señor Jesús a Natanael, Natanael imaginativamente dijo:“‘Y díjole Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede haber algo de bueno? Dícele Felipe: Ven y ve. Jesús vió venir á sí á Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero Israelita, en el cual no hay engaño. Dícele Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús, y díjole: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera te vi. Respondió Natanael, y díjole: Rabbí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel.’”（Juan 1:46-49）

Se puede ver que aunque Natanael tuvo una idea del Señor Jesús desde el principio, creía que el Mesías no debía nacer en Nazaret, pero no mantuvo su propia concepción e imaginación, sino que también buscó con la mente humilde y escuchó al Señor Jesús. Cuando escuchó al Señor Jesús decir la cosa que él había orando debajo de la higuera, sintió que el Señor es todopoderoso y omnisciente. El Señor Jesús puede inspeccionar los corazones y los mentes de las personas, lo cual es completamente diferente de la gente común, entonces dejó de lado sus ideas, reconoció que el Señor Jesús era el Mesías venidero, aceptó al Señor Jesús y recibió la salvación del Señor. Ahora, al final de los últimos días, la profecía del regreso del Señor se ha cumplido. El Señor Jesús dijo:“Aun tengo muchas cosas que deciros, mas ahora no las podéis llevar. Pero cuando viniere aquel Espíritu de verdad, él os guiará á toda verdad; porque no hablará de sí mismo, sino que hablará todo lo que oyere, y os hará saber las cosas que han de venir.”（Juan 16:12-13）

También la profecía Apocalipsis 3:20：“He aquí, yo estoy á la puerta y llamo: si alguno oyere mi voz y abriere la puerta, entraré á él, y cenaré con él, y él conmigo.”

Y la profecía de Apocalipsis 2: 7:“El que tiene oído, oiga lo que el Espíritu dice á las iglesias. ”

De estos versículos podemos ver que el Señor hablará nuevamente en los últimos días y nos dirá todas las verdades y misterios. Cuando escuchamos alguna iglesia es testigo del regreso del Señor para hablar o alguien nos dio un testimonio del regreso del Señor, tenemos que dejar nuestras ideas y buscar con humildad, vea si estas palabras pueden suplir nuestras necesidades espirituales, resolver nuestros problemas reales, señalar el camino de practicar, mientras se determine que es la voz de Dios y la expresión de la verdad, aceptamos la verdad y obedecemos la obra de Dios, para que podamos dar la bienvenida el regreso del Señor.

Life in Mei Foo-Now and Then by Ng Yuen Wa

The sixteen panels will be divided into two main parts according to their themes, one part is about the past of Mei Foo and the other illustrates the life of the Mei Foo residents at the present moment. These two main parts can be subdivided into four groups, each group consisting of four panels:

The first group, On the Night of the Mid-Autumn Festival , depicts how the Mei Foo residents used to share their love and joy at the podium under the full moon at the Mid-Autumn Festival.;

The second group, centred on the theme of Memory of the Seashore, brings the viewers back to a time when there was a wonderful seashore at the Mei Foo Sun Chuen. With a touch of nostalgia, this group of works highlights the sublime seascape and the serene atmosphere of the Mei Foo Sun Chuen.

The Mei Foo residents depicted in the third group, Apartment in the Starry Metropolitan, enjoy the glittering night scene of this prosperous metropolitan – Hong Kong – through gazing out of their apartment windows, while they are resting in their apartments after a day of work.

In Mei Foo, a piece of land has been reclaimed from the sea and a park with different kinds of recreational facilities is built on the reclamation area. The fourth group of work, entitled A Delightful Weekend, focuses on the recreational activities of the Mei Foo residents taking place in the park.
