This bird flew very close past the boat I was in, so it was virtually frame filling. No idea how I managed to keep it all in the frame!

The tip of the 108 m tall smokestack of the Neder-Over-Heembeek incinerator emerged over the sea of clouds covering Brussels during that exceptional winter sunrise….

It was raining on the North-West side of my office and sunny on its South-East side. So I ran to the emergency staircase and there was this fantastic double rainbow, extending well over North-East to East and covering the Crossing Stadium, part of Josaphat Park and, hardly visible in the distant haze, the whole area of Brussels Airport.

My armour is like that of turtles. And I have the soul of a talking bear. Among wolves and goats of the heights so am I, I have the skin of a beaver. Green lakes and endless forests. Like that time, I want to go back. And in my memory they darken again. Those sensations are memories of former lives. And the fog confused me. I saw your shadow and I chased you. I see you swimming among the reeds. Talk to me, tell me it's true. In the distance I see you running. Wait for me, tell me it's you. Sunset mirages, was it true or did I imagine it?
I'm a swift fox again. I was punished to return. Tell me, where are you going? Last night I saw you pass by. I know you won't come back. I'm a swift fox again. I was punished to come back. Earth, tell me where are you going?... someday you'll stop... you will not rotate again...

Una expresión en tus ojos me tomó por sorpresa. ¿Dónde estaba yo? ¿Cómo iba a saberlo? ¿Cómo podemos ir en coche a ver una película? Cuando la música está aquí en mi coche, hay una banda tocando en la radio con un ritmo de guitarras que riman. Están tocando: Oh Yeah... en la radio.
.....
In Japan they say you shouldn't worry because there are never any problems. If a problem has a solution, why worry? And if it doesn't have a solution, why worry?
The problem was not solved, but to hell with the problem. The radio is connected again... it's playing: Oh Yeah on the radio

This field is where I shot a lot of flowers/bokeh last year. This year I was disappointed to find the flowers were mostly hidden with field grasses. The hummingbirds were still coming, though, so I came away with something, lol. : )

Berkeley's T-Rex in one of the science buildings--part of the collection of the small paleontology museum. He greets all visitors to the science library. I’m standing in the library looking out through a big window into the atrium.
Remember reading about the very small arms this dinosaur had? Scientists have no explanation, as of yet.

Adelpha butterflies are colloquially known as 'Sisters'. In terms of appearance they are reminiscent of the White Admirals ( Limenitis ) of Eurasia, and share with them a fondness for flitting gracefully around the lower branches of trees in the dappled sunlight of the forest.
There are 85 known species of Adelpha, all except two of which are confined to Central and South America. The butterflies are characterised by having a distinctive blackish marbled pattern overlaid on a brown ground colour; and by the presence of a broad orange or white band on the forewings. The hindwings of most species have a white median band.
Adelpha leucophthalma occurs as 3 subspecies distributed variously from Nicaragua to Ecuador.
This is a cloudforest species, found at elevations between about 800-1700m.

The Strid & Strid Wood
The spectacular Strid is where the broad River Wharfe becomes suddenly narrow and the water rushes with great force. The Strid was formed by the wearing away of softer rock by the circular motion of small stones in hollows, forming a series of potholes which in time linked together to form a deep, water filled chasm.
Please note the Strid is very dangerous and lives have been lost. Please take notice of the advice signs in this area and stay well back from the edge.
The Strid is wider than it looks and the rocks are usually very slippy.
The Strid gets its name from the Anglo Saxon 'Stryth' meaning Turmoil or Tumult; corrupted into Strid, from the possibility of striding across the channel.
The Strid is easily accessible from Sandholme car park. It is approximately a twenty minute walk through Strid Wood from the Cavendish Pavilion. This path is suitable for wheelchairs. Alternatively, the Strid can be accessed from Strid Wood car park. This route takes ten minutes, however, the path is uneven in places and terrain easy to moderate.
This ancient woodland is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and one of the largest areas of acidic oak woodland in the Yorkshire Dales. It is renowned for the flora and fauna, particularly the carpets of bluebells in Spring. Follow the colour coded nature trails through the wood and relax and enjoy the view from one of the many carefully positioned seats. There are walks to suit all ages and abilities including the green trail. This popular trail which is suitable for wheelchairs follows the west bank of the River Wharfe from the Cavendish Pavilion to the Strid.
Visitors are asked to keep their dogs on a lead whilst in the woods to avoid disturbing the animals and to prevent damage to the fragile woodland plants.
Happy Thursday Monochrome : )
