This bird flew very close past the boat I was in, so it was virtually frame filling. No idea how I managed to keep it all in the frame!

Achlyodes pallida is distributed from Mexico to Bolivia.
Butterflies in the genus Achlyodes are known as Batwings or Bat Skippers. There are only 2 species: busirus and pallida.

The farmhouse Poggio Amorelli owned by the couple Adriana and Marco Mazzarrini is located in one of the most beautiful area in Chianti, near to the village of Castellina in Chianti and one of part of the wineyards are also in Maremma, near the village of Magliana in Tuscany.
It embraces 40 hectars land; 15 hectars of wineyard specialized in the production of Chianti Classico DOCG, Gallo Nero and of Morellino di Scansano DOCG.
The Wine production started in 1987, but only in 1995, with the restoration of the wine cellar and with the change in equipments for the wine production, the products started in receiving awards for its quality.
The wines are sold both on the national market as also in foreign countries, majority in Germany and USA. The aim of the Mazzarrini family is to grow in quality and not in quantity, to maintain the characteristics and the management of the family owned company, the only peculiarity to be different in a global market that push towards uniformity of traditions and tastes.
At 9 am, the sky had partly cleared up and the sun had melted most of the fresh snow covering the red mountains bordering Laguna Lejia's northwestern shores.
The highest red mountains are Cerro Lámpara (in the center, 5198 m) and Cerro Corona (behind it to the left, 5291 m).
Laguna Lejía (Bleach Lagoon) is a salt lake in the Atacama desert.
It is located in the Chilean Altiplano of the Antofagasta Region,
100 km (62 mi) south-east of San Pedro de Atacama,
at an altitude of 4325 m (14,200 ft).
It is shallow and has no outlet, currently covering an area of
nearly 2 km² (0.77 sq mi) with an average depth of 1.2 m (4 ft).

As much as I adore the liquid element, I reside at a place where it is is considered a rather scarce commodity and can hardly be located ... Thank God, at a distance of half an hour drive there lies the beautiful river of Nestos, whose flow is surrounded by amazing Green Nature and bridges, lots of bridges !!!
I love using my tripod and my ND (Neutral Density) filters over my lenses ... Their combined use enhances considerably the appropriate shutter speed for a balanced exposure, thus blurring water's flow and creating beautiful sharp images .... Environmental colors remain unaltered ...
I definitely suggest them for extensive use over around blue hours landscape photography ...

Dans un paysage riant et vallonné, Bergheim, charmante cité, située au cœur du vignoble alsacien, est une des rares bourgades alsaciennes à avoir conservé la quasi-totalité de son enceinte médiévale. Ce village reste encore relativement préservé des touristes. Le centre ville comporte de nombreuses et très belles maisons de vignerons.....

A misty, foggy morning at the Carrick Flats.
A calm morning and water like glass produced some great reflections with the last remnants of autumn colours.
The Carrick Flats is an area on the River Roe that has two weirs that were used to fuel water down a lade to power a Hydro Electric scheme, in the Roe Valley Country Park, Limavady. A new hydro electric scheme has recently been reinstated using the former lade and a new generator has been installed in the old Generator House at the visitor centre. It has not been used yet, but assume it will be in use in 2017. Some more historical facts can be seen in the link below.

Captured from Chapel Porth Beach, Cornwall. Chapel Porth Beach is a small sandy and pebble cove at the bottom of a narrow valley on the North Cornwall coast. At low tide the beach extends to an excellent wide beach which is popular with surfers. Note that the sand at Chapel Porth is completely covered at high tide. The genus Actinote comprises of thinly scaled species whose wings often have a translucent and shiny appearance.
There are 36 known Actinote species. There are 8 subspecies of anteas found variously from Mexico to Bolivia and Brazil.

What got me out in the first place on this day was catching this EMD Tier IV leader rolling over Santa Fe Junction on the Virtual Railcam feed. Thanks to some helpful mid-day updates from the rest of the Kansas Sub intel gang, along with an assist by the MOW who were effectively single-tracking the line, the train didn't leave Topeka until after my work hours.
With work being particularly stressful for me on Wednesday, it was great to be able to get out to photograph some trains, providing a few hours of mindlessness; something completely divorced from work. It sure was nice for the Railfan Gods to present me with not just one, but TWO good looking leaders on back-to-back afternoon westbounds. Thanks, world.
Regarding the train itself, the 3076 is leading a cut of Schneider 53' double stack containers on the IG1LC, indicative of the shipping company's recent traffic shift to the UP from the BNSF. Das Disch-Haus gilt als wichtigstes Zeugnis der Neuen Sachlichkeit in der Domstadt Köln und als eines der Hauptwerke des Architekten Bruno Paul. Die Einweihung erfolgte am 1. Februar 1930. Das Bauwerk steht unter Denkmalschutz.
Noch heute wirkt das von Erich Mendelsohns Kaufhausarchitektur beeinflusste Dischhaus modern, doch zur Entstehungszeit muss der Effekt aufsehenerregend, vielleicht schockierend gewesen sein. Zum einen aufgrund seiner Lage, stand es doch gegenüber der romanischen, im 15. Jahrhundert erweiterten Kirche St. Kolumba, einer der ältesten Pfarrkirchen Kölns. Zum anderen war es an der Stelle eines Gebäudes entstanden, das in mehrfacher Hinsicht eine vergangene Epoche verkörperte. Auf dem annähernd dreieckigen, verwinkelten Grundriss hatte zuvor ein Prachtbau der Kaiserzeit gestanden, der mit seinem historistischen Formenvokabular schon architektonisch den exakten Gegenpol zum Neubau verkörperte: das „Hôtel Disch, Cologne“, gegründet 1848.
Im Jahr 1928 beschloss der Aufsichtsrat der Hotel-Disch-AG, das inzwischen unrentabel gewordene Hotel abzureißen und an seiner Stelle ein gewinnversprechenderes Büro- und Geschäftshaus mit einer Nutzfläche von 10.000 Quadratmetern errichten zu lassen.
Die AG lud zu einem Wettbewerb ein, an dem sich zahlreiche renommierte Kölner Architekten beteiligten. Der Zuschlag ging an Bruno Paul und seinen Kompagnon Franz Weber.

Berkeley's T-Rex in one of the science buildings--part of the collection of the small paleontology museum. He greets all visitors to the science library. I’m standing in the library looking out through a big window into the atrium.
Remember reading about the very small arms this dinosaur had? Scientists have no explanation, as of yet.
