We purchased a 1400 + sq foot house in Boynton Beach on a quarter acre land with a fenced in backyard. Doggy door already installed. Now we begin the painting and decorating journey in our new home.
Hooray! The weather was finally nice enough (for long enough) that painting could begin. Here the exterior of our house has been coated with tinted primer. Prep (hole filling and crack patching and such) will be next. Let's hope the nice weather continues. It could take 2-3 weeks to paint our house in *good* weather.
All finished and the shelves are built and in place. I only had to put in two stablizing screws in the back wall to keep it square. I was able to cram a whole dresser full of extra clothes in there, plus Kat's stuff.
HOME IMPROVEMENTS: UNDER $100

Tip: Spend an hour with a pro.
Invite a realtor or interior designer over to check out your home. Many realtors will do this as a courtesy, but you will probably have to pay a consultation fee to a designer. Check with several designers in your area; a standard hourly fee is normally less than $100, and in an hour they can give you lots of ideas for needed improvements. Even small suggested improvements, such as paint colors or furniture placement, can go a long way toward improving the look and feel of your home.
Our first big project is done!
This room is directly outside our bedroom. Of the tasks performed, we:
-Replaced light fixture with ceiling fan
-Replaced blinds
-Patched all holes and painted the walls "Kalamata"
-Replaced outlets and faceplates with white ones
-Installed recessed directional halogens and put them on a dimmer switch
-4"x3/4" baseboards
We're adding two horizontal stripes around the room. One in orange ("maple leaf") and a thinner one in brown. We'll probably accent that door to the yard with the same colors.
I took my extended handle for my paint roller and used packing tape to attach a little brush to the end. That's what I used to apply glue to the wallpaper.

Behr 2A17-5 Campfire, satin. New hardware from Home Depot. 4 coats of paint later, the green is finally vanquished.
Because the garage, at least this half of the garage, will be going a makeover (how extreme is still to be seen), I thought it important to have the usual "before" photo filed away here. I only hope the "after" photo shows a new and improved garage. If not, I may resort to taking a photo of somebody else's garage.
