Wanna rip something off of something else? Buy one of these.

Note new position of the window. I took the pic when it was night so you can't see, but having the window in this position lets in a ton of natural light, unlike the old vertical window.

Also note the bench at the right of tub, where the wall formerly was built out.

We still need to get a nice fabric shower curtain to go on the outside of the plasticky one.

Closet door in the foyer. The left side of the frame had been 1/2" higher than the right. Fortunately the hinges are on the right - I disassembled the left side of the frame, trimmed the bottom, and reassembled, making the top level. The door is a little ajar so it's hard to tell how good the fit is, but it's GOOD.

This was supposed to show the fact that plaster is crap and falls apart to easily. Apparently the camera thought our printer and protein skimmer were far more important.

Purple can make bright colors sizzle, especially in very sunny areas," Saoud says. "For a hot, tropical effect, try purples with orange or red" such as salvia "Purple Majesty" mingled with Pat Austin or Gingersnap rose, or purple verbena bonariensis towering over orange cannas or flax.

We wore

We wore bags on our feet to keep the carpet fresh.

The finished rack, loaded with whatever leftover lumber I had.

new vanity, new medicine cabinet.

Water marks on the top, thats what natural stone does.

What happens when you cross a houseful of artsy types with fifty pounds of mismatched dumpstered tile?

The air powered nailer makes a big puff of insulation when it shoots a nail.

The wall is in pretty good shape still, which was a concern. From right to left is the blue painted wall (duh) then white drywall, then the anemic framing, then the door jam with some gray paint on top of darker wood.

(notice the stove!!)

Stained vs. Naked Wood

A close up of the funky lino. By the way...that sub floor's gonna be a pain...literally a pain...to take up.

Sheet Rock is completed in the Kitchen! I really never thought I would see the day!

petworth. the new georgetown.

We have our own tile saw now. It was cheaper to buy one than to rent one, and we're going to have a lot of tile to cut when we start working on the floor.

Hopefully this will keep the cats from making holes under the guest bed's boxspring.

We discovered this hole when we took the drawers out of the vanity cabinet. Yes, the hole was cut through the cabinet and into the wall. We wondered what might have been stashed there, but whatever it may have been, it is long gone. There were only spider webs when we checked it out.

The house even comes with an adorable piano that needs some love and repairs (just like the house!)

Front of house before the awning is installed.

We tore up some of the flooring to see what was underneath...more of our silly curiosity. The very bottom layer is the original lino...it's swirly and very cool.
