The photos of my home altar have, by far, been my most popular photos on Flickr, so I thought I might provide a few more! Here is the top of my home altar. I suggest you always keep your alter very clean, dust it every week and never pile junk on it. That way it is always a beautiful, serene place to catch your eye and to be open to prayer. Your comments on this photo would be greatly appreciated!

Here is an oddity and I don't know why a projection TV was still being stored for money when flat screens are so cheap. It's hard to believe what people think is valuable enough to store. I for one stashed a motor-driven Besseler color enlarger with dichroic head and blower assembly and I feared for the devaluation caused by the flood. What is any devaluation below zero? I did rescue the EL Nikkor enlarging lenses. To what end, I don't know. This is just down from the thatched chain link shot.
The flooding was due to leaving the gate on an irrigation ditch open above the Twin Peaks Golf Course uphill from here. Everything that would float, floated across the links and got caught in every possible snag. Clearly, a lot of weeds were scoured by the flood. I wonder how high the flood water got? This is undoubtedly from the ditch that flooded the golf course and housing and storage units. Too bad the ditch company didn't close the gate after 2-3 days of rain but it's good to know that no one is responsible. The righties preach against climate change so it can't be that even though Canada registered hundreds of glaciers shrinking with a lot of them disappearing but there are 4, count em, that are growing. As it worked out, clear weather developed today, so I bailed immediately. The branch line, behind me and in earlier posts, was an extension of the Denver, Longmont and Northwestern narrow gauge built by the Denver, Utah & Pacific. There were two quarry branches and the remaining cement plant spurs at Lyons.
Finally a home for all my magazines and my lovely Chris Ware, This American Life poster. Yippy! Oh, and my fun 1970's desk lamp I scored for $12, aw yeah!
Home Prayer Altar/Shrine, last rites box, sick call box. This shrine was commonly used for "house calls" by a priest at times of sickness or death to assist the priest in delivering the Sacrament. The box kept a spoon and plate for serving communion, sort of like a small sacristy. Was also a permanent fixture in many Catholic homes, intended for ongoing devotions and NOT just for times of illness or death.
So did you just move away from home to college, your job, just married, in the service or other reasons, well get your own home video telephone that you can see your Mom or Dad, maybe your Grandkids, a new born son or daughter every time you call to talk to them.
