Home sweet home is what the miners called this "desert palace". Located 100 paces from the Colorado rivers edge it is across the river from Picahco State Park, CA.

The cabin still has its original saltbush thatched roof with a more recent layer applied by local caretakers to help preserve it in the howling winds this area receives.

The inside of the cabin is fully furnished with real artifacts of the period. If you go take a new register as the one there is full and the pen is dead.

The Muckleford home signal is seen at proceed as J549 heads back to Maldon for a special Maldon Folk Festival shuttle train.

The two cars still proved a challenge in the steep, slippery conditions throughout the day.

This is also my 399th photo. Woohoo.

Home on a Hill is a new seed part challenge created by Windy City LUG. The goal is to create a micro city on one of the 32x32 canyon baseplates.

This was my 5 year old's entry.

Lewis was with us today and he had quite a lot of home schooling to be done ~ thank goodness his Nana was here!! Anyway, as part of his schoolwork he was to make some kind of lunar model out of rubbish!!

This is his landing craft for Mars ... he's placing a camera on the top of the craft 😉

I love watching the concentration when he's doing this ~ beats a million pieces of LEGO lying all over the place!!

Before the CN took over the EJ&E, 703 spent almost all its time running the WRS1 between Waukegan and Spaulding. CN sent it away shortly after the merger, and 703 mainly wonders all over the Midwest now.

It's four years later, and the 703 has once again been assigned to the former WRS1! It looks right at home banging the diamonds at Leithton heading for its former home in Waukegan. Vernon Hills, IL

Update - I had reason to look at this and remembered what a fun shot it was.

Yesterday, Rumblemumbles moved into her own apartment.

No more renting

No more sharing

No more moving

She is now in bed with the bank, but at least it is her own (and the banks).

With some help and transport from one of her generous workmates, and me, we spent Friday doing the relocation, and today was spent sorting, cleaning and figuring out where it is all going to fit, with RM rolling out the "tough love" on some items and waving goodbye to them.

We took some timeout this morning to record the occasion.

I am not sure if this shows horror or pleasure, but by the late afternoon, it was looking more homely, and she was feeling tired but content.

As for me, I felt wasted from the effort, and it is hard to stay awake, so, sorry if I have been a bit absent lately.

sunday.

bring him home.

we went to watch the martian today at setia mall. this would be me watching for the second time in three days.

i had come to watch it alone two days ago the first time thinking that i would watch it first to see if the film is suitable for jie.

she had been kinda eager to see it for weeks after hearing the story line from me.

fortunately...it is ok for an eight year old but some parental guidance on the occasional swear words is required. so i did just that with jie before the movie.

i also warned her about the length of the movie and she said no problem i am able to hold my pee for two and a half hours. don't worry.

i also told her that if she was able to sit through. enjoy and understand the movie then she might be one of the youngest in malaysia to do just that.

'so they would give me an award and publish in the newspaper?' jie asked.

ha.

jie did enjoy the movie but only after her mother assured her that: yes they did succeed in bringing him home in the end.

sorry about the spoiler here.

at home after the movie...jie and i sat down in the front garden to sketch out the one takeaway image in our heads from the film.

bring him home.

august. raya break. twenty thirteen.

jie would sleep in. i would do some work at home. we would have late breakfast together after she got up. i would leave her to her own devices while i go change.

i would drop her off at popo's and get into office really really late...around noon.

that was the pattern during school holidays.

jie had coco crunch for breakfast today.

Here's a new wall arrangement. The old one was getting old for my liking.
