At one point, the road between Escalante and Boulder runs right along the top of a ridgeline, barely wide enough for a two-lane road. It's called the Hogsback - and it is a SENSATIONAL drive.

they have the best tomatoes. and everything else is very, very good.

Somehow, the turn toward the road that takes us there always comes too soon. We almost miss it, every time.

Glad we know how to get there, though.

After my soggy morning on the golf course, we had a fine late afternoon.

The second cottage bedroom has 2 single beds with electric blankets and down duvets. It looks out on the courtyard and the rose bush in the front with a glimpse down the valley.

Despite Mom's fall, we soldiered forward on our first real vacation in two years.

The Hogsback is so named because the ridge jutting into the canyon resembles the high hunched back of a wild boar.

Letchworth State Park is a popular destination to see fall color, and it did not disappoint. In fact, we couldn't see the entire park as rangers closed part of it as full in the afternoon!

This ain't no upwardly mobile freeway

Oh no, this is the road, this is the road, this is the road to hell

A view of the Hogsback Falls. The Hog's Back Falls, officially known as the Prince of Wales Falls, but rarely referred to by this name, are a series of artificial waterfalls on the Rideau River in Ottawa, Canada. The falls are located just north of Mooney's Bay and the point where the Rideau Canal splits from the Rideau River.vPrior to the construction of the Rideau Canal, these were a gentle set of rapids originally known as Three Rock Rapids. The name Hog's Back came into use shortly before canal construction. (Ottawa, Canada, June 2015)
