Unfortunately the geometry of the hinge point means no additional struts can be added :( I wonder if the rules will alow clip-on parts for judging?

One could say this barn door is off its hinges....literally.

Looks like it lined up really good.

this is an old run down, falling in well house (?) in the neighborhood. i've always loved all the aged colors on it.

It popped loose right away, so that means it wasn't damaged in any way.

Just had to get some kid of shot of this door at Prussia Cove, and this close up turned out best. Enjoy.

This is my first attempt at leather hinges. This also features my first 'made' end sheet.

I have the 4-year complete-care warranty.

I made it clear to them that it was not accidental damage, that I hadn't dropped it, and that it was a structural defect that broke upon opening the laptop.

They sent someone to my house the next day, and they popped on a new screen backing, hinge, and the part where the touch media controls are, and I was all set. they didn't have to replace anything expensive...

If you did exactly what i did, I'd be careful opening and closing it with the broken hinge, I remember being afraid the screen would break if I wasn't exceptionally careful.
