An idea for displaying my minifigs. Turns out the parts are quite cheap too, so I'll probably go ahead with this once I get a few more base plates.

A subtle touch, but it makes a big difference. This is a double-hinged, inset door, allowing it to get out of the way when it's TV time.

Holy Curiosity....Isn't that what every artist needs?

U.S. Bellows, Inc. designed a double hinged reinforced expansion joint for a 92" diameter pipe in a water treatment plant located in Canada. The bellows, root rings and collars are fabricated from 321 stainless steel. The weld ends and hinge hardware are fabricated from carbon steel. This expansion joint was designed for 100 PSIG at 300°F with 4° angular movement for each bellows. The bellows long seems and longitudinal pipe welds were 100% x-ray examined, and a hydro-test at 150 PSIG, along with a 100% dye penetrant test for all welds was performed prior to shipment.

In the first stroke of morning light,

a door creaks softly on its hinges.

The cool tiled mirror reflects

the last traces of sleep,

the mist of dreams upon the skin.

A bath – a beginning,

a cleansing of night and past.

The day's worn hands, aching back,

sweat from field, from factory, from human tide.

A shirt clings like a wax seal,

heavy with the weight of hours,

a witness to the body's toil.

But water falls,

like rain upon cracked earth,

washing away the city's pulse.

Each drop hums a quiet hymn:

"You have lived, you have fought,

now let go."

The bath before we step out,

before we don the mask of scent,

smooth palms,

tightened collar, softened cheek.

It is the threshold

from the intimate to the world,

from our raw, unguarded selves

to the shadow we cast in others' eyes.

Is it vanity –

or merely a gift of grace?

And then, the baths we share,

a child's laughter beneath the lathered hands,

a touch lifting

the small face,

pouring warmth over skin and skull

like a quiet blessing.

Lovers in mist and nearness,

low-lit glow,

words unspoken.

Water binding bodies

like a river

that never stops its journey.

But what is a bath?

A necessity, a luxury, a gesture?

In times when drops are counted,

when the earth sighs for rain,

water becomes a gift –

and we, the privileged,

let it slip through our fingers

without thought.

Yet in the stream of fleeting moments

the bath grants us

something rare:

a pause,

where the world dissolves,

and for a single breath,

we simply are.

Three Haikus

1.

Steam veils the mirror,

skin hums beneath falling streams—

a moment of hush.

2.

Laughter in warm waves,

tiny hands chasing the foam—

water holds us close.

3.

Day’s dust runs in swirls,

rivering back to the sea—

I am clean once more.

It seems there might be a tradeoff with the hinges--the first set is clean when unfolded, but messy when folded. The second set is the opposite. Which is preferable? Is there a way around this?

You could spend the entire day at the museum shooting just close-up shots. You will find details and rust that you just can't find most places. Make sure that you explore the outdoor lineup of steam engines. Take your time to explore the peeling paint and rusting mechanicals.Read the rest of the article about the Illinois Railway Museum at www.OutofChicago.com

The final part used to add strength to the door post area is a brace that bolts to the upper hinge “U” bracket and runs forward to the firewall.

This wee guy is very happy to be on the bottom of a VW Beetle accelerator pedal hinge.

A close up of the iron work on a big wooden door.

Profile cut plates are doubled together and welded up to build the posts. All this fabrication is good welding practice, of the type I need to get this build done.

I picked up a Yashica MAT LM at an antique flea market. Got a good deal, but it had one major flaw. On one side of the top, the cover hinge bracket had broken off making the cover almost fall off and not straight.

Here's my solution, I made a small steel bracket which I screwed onto the side of the frame. It is mostly hidden, seen only when the cover is open all the way.

The replacement was a perfect fit, and the cover opened and closed like new.

I really like these bronze cabinet hinges from Rejuvenation. The pins slide out.
