The highest point on the Northern line? For this weekend anyway as a replacement Bus service is in operation which climbs to Hampstead Heath and passes (as here) 'Jack Straw's Castle'.

Highest peak on the left, 5,700 metres (18,700 ft)-Highest point in Colombia and less than 20 kilometers from the Caribbean Sea. We were standing on a ridge at 2400m, and could see the high peaks and the Caribbean at the same time! Most dramatic elevation rise on the planet! These mountains peaks are part of the Arhuaco reservation, and are sacred to them, and are off limits to non-natives without special permission. They have never been formally measured and estimates of their elevation are approximate.
Lt. Governor Janet Austin has bestowed the Order of British Columbia, the Province's highest form of recognition, upon fourteen exceptional civic leaders.
This year, 203 British Columbians were nominated for the order. More than half of the nominations came from the Lower Mainland, with the remaining coming from other regions throughout the province. Since its inception, 432 British Columbians have been appointed to the order from all regions of the province, and in numbers generally proportionate to a region’s population.

HAVANA (IPS) - Vilda Figueroa and her husband, José Lama, live in Marianao on the outskirts of Havana, where they share hundreds of recipes based on Cuban-grown foods and sun-drying, along with other ecological food preservation methods.
When comparing the world’s cities to one another, we often use defining characteristics—largest, greenest, most visited, highest-earning, the list goes on.
Yet elevation is often overlooked, even though thousands of cities across the globe are nestled in highlands, plateaus, and mountain ranges.

Access road to the parking area of Yough Lake at the dam. To the left a simple painting tells a big story. "4-2-93 Highest Pool Elevation 1460.88" The highest level reached by the dam.
The trail to the top of about the highest peak in the North Georgia mountains, and also one of the most well-traveled sections of the Appalachian Trail, leads the hiker thru the Blood Mountain Wilderness to the peak of this spectacular mountain. Just past the very top of the mountain is this granite outcrop that provides one of the most gorgeous panoramas in all of North Georgia. On a clear day, you really can see forever. This is a favorite stopping point for hikers and you often find them sitting and resting, eating or sleeping. We hiked to the top twice and it was worth all the effort!! This day we were lucky because there was virtually no haze to block the view.

Beinisvørð, the highest birdcliff in the island of Suðuroy in Faroe Islands and the second highest in the Faroes. This photo is taken from a boat trip with the old wessel Johanna TG 326. There is only one birdcliff in the Faroes, which is higher than Beinisvørð, it is called Enniberg.

London Bridge Tower, also known as the Shard, is a 72-storey mixed-use tower located beside London Bridge Station, one of the busiest in London with 200,000 users per day. Being completed, the project is in response to the Mayor's policy of promoting high-density development at key transport hubs. The slender pyramidal form is suited to the variety of uses intended; large floor plates for offices at the bottom, public areas and a hotel in the middle, apartments at the top. The final public floors, levels 68-72, accommodate a viewing gallery 240m above street level. Above, eight glass shards continue to 305m and define the shape and visual quality of the tower. That top is much more subtle than the simplistic high pyramid the building first appears.

Highest peak in background is Corcovado. in the flatlands below it is Red Beach (Praia Vermelha) with Morro da Babilônia on its left and Morro da Urca.
Sugarloaf (Pão de Açúcar) is the peak in the foregound on the right.
The highest water level ever on Danube river (more than 10 meters) holds concrete wall built for these purposes (around 4 or 5 years ago water would be on the street already..;-)
The Moreeb Dune is supposed to be the highest sand dune in the region if not in the world. The actual dune is taller than the end of the fencing seen in this pic. According to Google Earth the crest is about 210m though this would naturally vary with shifting sands. The gradient is pretty steep as we found out for ourselves while trying to climb up, holding the fence as support.

Blue Ridge Mountains view while hiking down Mount Mitchell. The trail starts at Black Mountain Campground and is 5.5 miles ascending around 3600 feet to the summit. Mt Mitchell is the highest peak east of the Mississippi river.

The Leadhills & Wanlockhead Railway is Britain's highest adhesion railway, reaching 1498 feet above sea level at Hillend summit, it was originally built in 1900 for the Caledonian Railway Company.
Clyde, Leadhills and Wanlockhead Locomotive No 6 was built by Hunslet Locomotives , Leeds in 1975, as locomotive number HE6347. This Locomotive has a six cylinder water cooled Perkins diesel engine producing sixty horse power to its four wheels via a torque converter and chain drive.
